Wood fired chimney. Fire wood can be bought. Pueblo is at the end of a road, very safe for children. The old villagers see everything!

Coast/Beach
The main beach at Salobrena is about one hour away. The Costa del Sol is a fairly well developed stretch of coastline, but there are a number of less well known bays along protected stretches of coast that we can point you towards.
Skiing
Skiing at Sierra Nevada, 1.5 hours by car. Serious walkers can scale the Mulhacen (3,482m) or Veleta (3,398m). Lots of beautiful walking trails to other pueblos. Medical services at Pitres, 24 hours, Medical Helicoptor to Granada and Motril Hospitals.

From Granada 1.5 hours. To The Cabo de Gata (Almeria Coast) for surfing. La Ronda (inland from Malaga and a spectacular drive from Granada. Sierra Nevada for skiing.

Travel
Granada is the closest airport at 1 hour 30 minutes drive and is served by Ryanair (from Stansted and Liverpool) and by Monarch (from Gatwick). Malaga is served by most other airlines and is about 2 hrs 20 minutes by car. You can reach us via public transport (Bus station in Malaga or Granada is very good) but car hire is highly recommended and very easy to arrange. We will be happy to give advice.
Distances
Coming from Malaga, Salobrena with its beautiful castle and beaches is one of the most beautiful villages to get to the Alpujarras. Orgiva 30 minutes from Granada is the closest town of significant size. Granada is 1.25 hours from Ferreirola.

Pitres is 6 km away from Ferreirola, has a bank, chemist, baker, supermarket, vegetarian restaurant, bars and a 24 hour health centre. Also Free Email service Council Offices. There is an outdoor swimming pool at the campsite. Serious walkers can scale the Mulhacen or Veleta. Local facilities to do excursions, mountain biking, horse-riding, and flamenco dance, photography classes, Alexander technique School, Flamenco school in Ferreirola.
