Villa Tros de Cel -we fell in love with this location, on a quiet hillside with extensive wooded views and the sea in the distance. Bell Lloc, situated midway between the hamlet of Romanyà and the village of Santa Cristina d'Aro, the proximity to a good choice of restaurants and several 18 hole golf courses, the beach at S'Agaró being only 10 mins away. Gerona Airport is 20 mins drive and Barcelona is reached in just over an hour's drive. We had the house built to our design, with a feeling of light and space exuding from the airy living room and well fitted kitchen at one end, whilst the large windows open onto a wrap around terrace overlooking the large swimming pool and ample garden beyond. The furnishings have been carefully chosen to be comfortable but yet practical for family use, and with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom at each side of the house, sharing families or groups of friends will retain their privacy. Ideal for relaxing family holidays and visiting Costa Brava/Barcelona.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week based in UK Pounds, for 14 day bookings. 5% premium for single week. Euro accepted and indicated figure based on current exchange rates. Prices include a welcome pack, linen, towels and cleaning once per week. We take a £300 deposit against damages which will be refunded less any deductions.
Pool heating is extra, pool £125 (€150) pw (May/June/Sept) £160 (€200)pw April/October

Changeover day
Changeover is a Saturday (from September 2007), though some flexibility in low season. Guests are expected to vacate the villa by 10am, and it will not be available until 4pm for new arrivals.

Notes on accommodation
Pool heating is available at a cost of €175/week (subject to oil price).
All bedrooms have cooling fans.
Additional "put up" bed available for additional child or cot.
Accessibility
Villa is single storey and all areas should be accessible. Garden is on two gently sloping levels, access to the lower level and pool will require some assistance to negotiate the short steps.
Outside
Large private pool 12m x 5m, with steps leading into shallow end. Large patio area covering two sides of the house and enjoying all day sun. Two large tables and barbecue on patio. 8 sun loungers and large landscaped gardens, mainly laid to lawn.
Garden has large range of shrubs and trees providing a very private garden which looks out over woodland.
Coast/Beach
Several beaches are within 15 minutes drive. Our own favourite is S'Agaro which is 6 miles away and typically a 10 minute drive. It is a large sandy beach with rock headlands and either end of the beach. Sailing/boat hire available at the beach and also lessons in the summer. Great for swimming and snorkeling with a variety of colorful fish. Also several friendly beach restaurants/bars.

There over 8 golf courses in the area, the nearest being one and a half miles away from the villa.

Travel
Gerona airport is 14 miles, a 20 minute drive. Barcelona Airport and Perpignon (France) are both approximately 75 minute drives. We would recommend Gerona which also benefits from cheap Ryanair flights if you book early!

Tennis - local courts (100m) are available free to guests. We have left some of our old racquets in the villa. Equestrian centre approx 0.5 miles, offers a range of options: sailing, dingy, wind surfer hire and water skiing available in S'Agaro and Platja D'Aro during summer. Power boat and yacht hire also available in Platja D'Aro/Palamos marinas. Cycling - bikes are available for hire in Santa Cristina with Creative Catalonia, who also organise cycling trips.
Area is also well known for its wals, with a large number of marked trails.
Number of interesting places to visit locally, Pals, Begur, Girona, La Bisbal, Tossa are within 30 minutes drive. Roses, Figueres, Barcelona are all within one hour's drive.

A 25% (min £500) deposit is required with booking, balance due 8 weeks before trip commences. Pool heating €150/week.

About the owner
We are a family with two boys, living in Bedfordshire.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought our Villa in Spain in 2000, when our two boys were 2 and 4. We have been enjoying holidays there since, normally with friends who also have children. It is particularly nice in May, June and September when the weather is great compared to the UK but avoids the peak season. We live in Bedfordshire and hence make regular use of the Ryanair flights to Gerona to go to the villa 4-5 times a year. Bought the villa after spending several weeks in Barcelona on business. Easy location to get to, on a good day when we only have carry on luggage we have done the trip door to door in 4 hours. We love sitting on the terrace in the morning looking over the wooded hills as the sun rises. It is tranquil and peaceful yet still close to the beaches and town.
Unique benefits of the property
When we were looking for a villa we spent some considerable time searching the area. We chose Bell Loch for the combination it gave us of:
A peaceful/tranquil garden with great views and privacy.
Yet still close to all the amenities.
Large flat plot with plenty of space for Children to play
As I am a keen swimmer we installed a large pool, not one you dive in and hit the other end!
The local town Santa Cristina is great for several good local restaurants/bars and good selection of shopping including a great supermarket.
It is only 20 mins from Gerona airport.
