Casa Merlot is a peaceful cottage set overlooking a small square in the village, it does have short term parking adjacent to the front door, but long term parking is near the bakery 50 mts away. The sun terrace looks out across the valley towards Mt Caballo 3000 mts high, with the gr7 path snaking round it. The terrace has a sheltered area which which is perfect for dining and barbeques.

Coast/Beach
25 mins in a car to the Costa Tropical, an unspoilt coastline which is very quiet with coves and quiet beaches. The nearest beach is Motril which has a golf course and very good bar adjoining, further along the coast(10 mins) is Salobrena, which is still unspoilt it has many tapas bars and resteraunts, 10 mins further is almunecar with many more bars and a water park.
Golf
There is a 18 hole golf course at Motril (25 mins) flat par 70.there is a new 18 hole par 72 (men) par 73 (ladies)approx 6575m, Country Club attached with pools, gym, jacuzzi, sauna, paddle courts, golf school and club hire, the owners will provide more info if required.
Skiing
Sol y Nieve is 1 hour in a car on very good roads, there are all types of activities there, dog sledging, skiing, snowboarding with all levels of skill catered for. Further up the mountain you can even hire a inner tube to mess around with (great for kids).
Special interest holidays
If you are a keen walker we have way marked walks starting in the village and they are easy (family-walks) to challenging (maps req). If you wish for something more difficult (high plains drifting) we can start you on Penon de Granada 1750m (way marked) or give advice on the 3000m plus mountains in the Sierra Nevada range. We can also advise you on the summer bus service into the mountains should you wish to take in the outstanding views and photo opportunities without any exertion.When it gets too hot you might fancy scuba diving we can arrange a taster dive for you the instructor who is fully qualified can offer a full range of diving opportunities. We can advise you on snorkeling in the Solabrena area. We also can now offer catamaran, canoe and windsurfer hire if you want to go a little faster jet skis are available.
Travel
Granada - Ryanair or Monarch - 30 mins in a car.
Malaga - Jet2 or bmibaby or Easyjet - 1hour 30mins in car.
airport collection and return should you not wish to hire a car can be arranged.
Distances
Granada and the Alhambra Palace is 30 mins away. Lanjaron the gateway to Orgiva (driving over lemons) and its mountain villages is just 15 mins drive. We now have a private car hire service available (prebooked), should you wish to go out in the evening and not be worried about drinking.
Further details
Our village has five bars two of these provide free tapas. There are two small supermarkets, a chemist and a bank with a cash machine (easy to use). In the surrounding villages there are many reasonably priced bars and restaurants. The beauty of the valley is you can chill out and relax or go walking (easy or challenging), painting, climbing, birdwatching, riding the list of activities is to vast to cover. There are good sized swimming pools nearby in local villages.
