The apartment is a few steps from the promenade (2nd line) which leads to the harbours and beach. It is on a small complex consisting of 24 apartments surrounding a swimming pool. It has a security gate and entrance-phone. The approach is from the road with steps leading to ground-floor level where the apartment is situated beside the pool. We do not recommend the apartment for families with toddlers or wheelchair users. Pets are not allowed. Villaricos is predominantly Spanish although lots of British people live and holiday here. It has two harbours. There are many places of interest locally including an aqua-park, mini Hollywood theme park, and the caves of Sorbas. There are several bars and restaurants, a beach-bar on the adjacent beach, and another in one of the harbour areas - both of which serve very good food. Some of the bars are English run and provide entertainment during the summer season. All of these are within easy walking distance of the apartment.

Notes on prices
Prices are for bookings of 1 week. Extra days can be added to make, say, a 10 day holiday.
Bookings for less than 1 week incur a supplement depending on the no. of days required.
Extra days, and when a booking spans 2 price bands: occupants will be charged proportionately.
10% non-refundable deposit on booking. Full amount to be paid if booked 8 weeks or less prior to holiday. Balance 8 weeks prior to arrival. Payment of this deposit confirms acceptance of our booking conditions.
Changeover day
Changeover days are flexible.
Normally arrival after 3 pm, departures before 10 am.
Where possible, we will do our best to accommodate earlier or later arrivals/departures.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Double room with 5ft wide bed, inbuilt wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table with mirror. Single room with 4ft wide bed, bedside cabinet, tallboy with hanging space and drawers beneath. Sofabed in the lounge, sleeps 1. |
| Bathrooms: | Full size bath with shower over, wc, bidet, sink with well-lit mirror above. Large bathrom cabinet for the miriad of toiletries and sun creams that we all need on holiday! |
| Kitchen: | Oven with ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, toaster, electric kettle and usual compliment of glasses, crockery and utensils. This is our second home, and we use it as such, so everything you could want for a comfortable holiday. |
| Living Rooms: | Large living room with dining table and chairs, corner sofabed (sleeps 1), 2 padded wicker chairs, pine coffee table, large pine glass doored cabinet, TV and DVD player (you are welcome to use DVDs stored in the TV cabinet). |
| Other: | There is a large cupboard in the lounge which contains beach chairs and brolly, cold box (for a picnic on the beach?), ironing board, iron. |

Sheets and towels are supplied. We do not provide beach towels. |
Notes on accommodation
For the summer there are two fans in the lounge and one in each bedroom. For those chilly evenings in the winter months there is an electric fire and an oil filled radiator which keeps the apartment comfortably warm.

Outside
There is an enclosed private patio area with table, chairs and brolly that leads directly out onto the pool and larger patio area. There is a shower for use before and after using the pool.
Coast/Beach
The promenade and small beach are a few steps from the apartment. There is a larger beach adjacent to the village which is a short walk along the promenade past one of the harbours. On this beach is a very good beach bar. Just right for a long lazy lunch or a drink to quench the thirst after a sunbathing session. There is also a bar in the harbour for a refreshing drink or snack on your way back from the beach.
Golf
Villaricos is a good base if you enjoy golf. There are 4 very good golf courses: Valle Del Este, Cortigo Grande, Marino de la Torre and Desert Springs all within 15 - 30 mins drive. Desert Springs was designed with a desert theme in mind. Well worth a visit even if you don't play golf as there are many facilities including the Day Spa, pool, restaurant, golf club.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada is Europe's most southerly ski resort. The resort is located 32 km from the centre of Granada and can be reached in approx. 2 1/2-3 hours drive. The drive itself is an experience and takes you through some of the best of Spain's contryside. The ski season normally lasts from December until the end of April. Artificial snow machines now mean that the resort can open for skiing even when there is no natural snow. It is quite possible to ski with beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures even in winter. If you get away early it is possible to ski during the day and be back for a well earned meal and drink in the evening. Alternatively why not book an overnight stay in the wonderful city of Granada?
Travel
Villaricos is approximately 1 hours drive from Almeria airport, 1 1/2 hours from Murcia, via a new toll road, and 2 hours from Alicante airport. We recommend that a car is hired for the drive from the airport and for use during the holiday as there are many interesting places to visit whilst here. The motorways and local roads are well signposted.
Distances
Places to visit locally are: Mojacar Playa, a large seaside resort approximately 20 minutes drive away. Mojacar Pueblo, sitting atop a steep hill with wonderful views of the surrounding terrain. Markets are held almost daily in one or other of the surrounding towns/villages. Fishing, bird-watching, walking and cycling are some of the past-times enjoyed in this area. There are also many secluded beaches and coves that can be found along the coast road.
Further details
5 minutes drive away is an Aqua Park with a wave machine, water shoots, flooms and pools suitable for all the family. You can visit the underground caves at Sorbas, approx. 45 mins drive, or experience a cowboy shoot-out at Mini Hollywood in Tabernos, approx. 50 mins drive away. Villaricos also has a scuba-diving club, VivaRiva Diving Sports. There is a fishing tackle shop, a newsagents/tobacconist, 2 mini-markets, 2 butcher’s shops and a shop selling fresh fish. There is an ATM machine at entrance to the village and banks in nearby Palomares. Villaricos holds a small market each Sunday selling local produce, clothes, linen etc. You can also buy a freshly cooked chicken for lunch!
For those interested in archaeology the area has an interesting history. The enclave of Baria built during the time of the Phoenecians has recently been discovered, now unfortunately covered over due to lack of funds to develop further. It is also said that Hannibal, complete with elephants, landed on a local beach before his unsuccessful attempt to conquer Rome.
