Our 2 bedroom apartment is reached via gently sloping steps or grass area. There are a few steps leading to a locked gate which opens onto a small garden area with citrus trees (which you are welcome to pick during the season). There are 7 more steps onto a recently renovated large tiled terrace (Feb 2012). The terrace has outstanding views of Nerja and the Mediterranean sea. You enter the Apartment through bi-fold doors, these can be fully opened to maximize the views. The kitchen/living area is on a split level. The living room has been newly furnished and is modern and airy. The kitchen has been fitted to a modern standard with all high spec appliances. San Juan is a complex with a large communal swimming pool, including a children's pool and play area. There are also cafes, bars, restaurants, and a small supermarket. These amenities are 200m from the apartment. Also from here runs a very reliable hourly bus service into the town. Our Spanish home, is just that, a second home.

Notes on accommodation

Accessibility
The apartment is not accessible to wheelchair due to initial steps to private garden gate, then from garden to terrace.
Outside
Entering through the private gate you have your own small walled garden, grassed area with flower beds and citrus trees. Approx half a dozen steps leads onto a partially covered, L shaped terrace, with Andalucian arch. Furnished with patio table, chairs, and sun loungers for your use.
Coast/Beach
Nerja is wonderful because to the west is the "laid back" safe Praisso beach,within the town there are a number of sandy coves, and to the east the "buzzy" Burriana beach where there is a diving school. All within a 10 minute drive, or 20 minute down hill walk.
Golf
Approximately 20 minute drive towards Malaga, there is a full size golf course.
Skiing
Skiing is available up in the Sierra Nevada, approximately 1hr 30 mins away.
How to get there
Malaga Airport is approx 60 km along an excellent motorway taking about 45 minutes. There is a half hourly shuttle bus from the airport to Malaga bus station and then connecting to the Nerja bus.(I am told by my sister that this is amazingly cheap and easy to do).
Distances
The centre of Nerja is about a 6 minutes drive or 25minutes walk. To taxi back is 7 euros.
Nerja caves at Maro are just 5 minutes away.
Frigilliana is a beautiful white village up in the mountains behind Nerja. About 10 minute drive.
Almunecar, of Laurie Lee fame, is a 20 minutes drive. With it's busy markets and beach restaurants.
Granada with the amazing Alhambra Palace is an hour and half drive away (nearly all motorway now).
Cordoba and Seville, each about two and a half drive.

Nerja is a beautiful Spanish town, with it's dramatic mountains behind, and the blue Mediterranean seas in front. Quaint alleyways, vibrant shopping streets, with bars, cafes and some excellent restaurants. Banks and supermarkets are all here. Or have a coffee on the Balcon de Europa, and just watch the world go by.
San Juan de Capistrano is built in the style of a white Moorish village. With it's attractive gardens and alleyways. The complex boasts a large communal pool (open March to October) with life guards in attendance, children's pool, bars and restaurants and a small supermarket.

About the owner
We live in Hampshire and have been going to southern Spain for a number of years,with the idea of one day buying a property. 6 years ago we discovered Nerja and had no need to look any further. Nerja was it. Last year we were in the fortunate position to be able to buy number 29. The complex of San Juan de Capistrano was in the perfect area with pools, restaurants, sea and mountain views. It needed some renovation and we have enjoyed making it our second home. We have grown up children and as we are heading towards retirement look forward to spending much more time there.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We bought this property primarily because of the stunning sea views. Our home is set in lovely peaceful gardens and benefits from being semi detached. San Juan is built in the style of an attractive Spanish white village.
Nerja is great whether it's a beach/pool type holiday, or for the cultural towns of Granada, Cordoba and Seville. Malaga airport being less than an hours easy drive.
We have been holidaying in the area for a month a year for 5 years now, falling in love with it because although it has all of the amenities you could want for a holiday, it still remains a small Spanish town. There are all of the tourist stuff ,however there are also smaller beaches and cobbled alleys away from the bustle.

We are about 200meters from the pools, bars and restaurants, and the parking area is approximately 50meters from the apartment, up a gently stepped and grassed slope.
