Finca Arboleda’s, idyllic holiday accommodation offers the option of our spacious one bedroom apartment and/or a two bedroom villa. Ideally located 10 minutes from the beaches of Costa Almeria and only 5 mins from Vera town. We have been established since 2004 with lots of regular visitors and are ranked No.1 on Trip Advisor for this type of accommodation in the Vera area, see the comments on our web site, linked at the end of this advert.
Our accommodation boasts a beautiful 10m x 5 m private pool, for use of the villa & apartment, sorry no young children in peak season, set in an orange grove with Fig trees and is ideal for those wanting a tranquil self-catering holiday. Although we offer peace and relaxation you also have access to a broadband WiFi internet service, iPod docking stations and freesat UK television. Plenty of books, board games, pool towels, washing machines and a shopping service for your arrival are all provided to help you lighten the load on the plane.

Notes on accommodation
Towels and linen are included and are changed weekly. Beach towels available on request. Properties are cleaned between rentals and are non-smoking. The central heating is provided for 8 hours a day, there is a charge for extra hours. We have Wi-Fi so you can log on with your own PC and check email etc.

Outside
Finca Arboleda is set on three terraces within over an acre of beautiful gardens.
Our house and the apartment are on the top terrace, which has 25 citrus trees as well as Apple, Apricot, Fig, Pomegranate and Plum. The inviting 10 metre salt purified pebble tec pool is set amongst the trees.
The middle terrace is an Olive grove of 40 trees.
The lower terrace has more Olive and Fig trees and this is where the old stables have been converted into a 2 bed roomed villa.
We have free-range chickens and are happy to sell you eggs, most guests enjoy feeding the girls!.
We also sell Extra Virgin Olive oil pressed from our own Olives. You are also welcome to pick any fruit that’s in season.
Both the apartment and the villa have their own garden furniture; BBQ's and sun lounges are also available.
Coast/Beach
The closest beach is Puerto Rey which is less than 10 mins drive from Vera town. It is very large and deserted for most of the year. There are literally dozens of other beaches along the coastline and they offer something for everyone from Mojacar with its English facilities and water sports and Vera playa with its Aqua park to numerous quiet sandy coves. The Cabo de Gata has fantastic unspoilt beaches with clear water, caves and great snorkeling, we can help you with maps and a guide book.
Golf
There are 5 golf courses within a 15/20 min drive making it the ideal base for a golfing break. The closest, 5 mins away, is the Valle del Este course which is an 18 hole par 71 course with fitness club on site. The Marina de la Torre is a par 72, 18 hole course split into two nine holes on either side of a hill, one overlooking the sea in Mojacar and the other overlooking the valley. A restaurant bar and golf shop are also on site. The best is the unique championship course of Desert Springs, near Cuevas. It is an 18-hole par 72 course with superb views. Desert Springs has a restaurant, bar and driving range and is worth a visit even if you do not play. The fourth is the 9-hole Cortijo Grande which can be played as 18 holes with dual tees for all holes. This is an established course situated in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Cabrera Mountains. The 5th and newest is in Mojacar. All have the usual course facilities.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada is about two and a half hours away. This is a very popular skiing resort for the Spanish.
Special interest holidays
Cycling, the area is great for cycling on and off road and we have 2 mountain bikes suitable for adults that you are welcome to use.
Olive picking, this takes 3 days around the 10th November and on the 4th day we take them to the press. If you have never sampled freshly pressed oil then this is a must do experience. You can even take some oil home for a truly original xmas present.
Travel
Almeria airport is 45 mins drive, Murcia is about 1h 25 mins and has lots of direct flights. Alicante is a bit less than 2 hours. Granada is about 2 hours. They are served by Ryanair, Easyjet, Flight, Monarch and others. fincaarboleda.com has lots of flight info, if you would like help or advice with finding flights just send us a mail. Distances
Vera town is 2km, Beach at Puerto Rey is about 6km.
Mojacar is 15km. Cabo de Gata is about 35mins. Huercal Overa and Albox are 20 mins.
Further details
Vera town has supermarkets, shops, banks, bars and restaurants. There is one very good restaurant a short country road drive away. Most of the towns and villages have market day once a week, Vera's market is very large and is on Saturdays. There are riding stables nearby and in the Sierra Cabrera. Garrucha, about 10-15 mins away is a working fishing town where you watch the days catch be auctioned, have a stroll along the excellent promenade and then enjoy dinner at one of the many open air seafood restaurants. A further 5 mins along the coast is Mojacar with the historic white washed old town perched on a hill overlooking the seafront with 100's of international and Spanish restaurants. Guests Comment: we'd just like to say we enjoyed the villa. Your garden was like an oasis of exotic fruit we felt sheltered and privileged to be in such an environment, utter delight. We have just returned from another holiday staying in the apartment and just love finca arboleda! Emma & Louise.
Our third stay with Mick & Pirkko not forgetting Stiggy. The accommodation is very very good. We have seen lots of improvements since our first visit in 2004 with central heating and a new kitchen. The cottage was not available at that time but the finished article is fab. The location is perfect.
The villa was the most relaxing and peaceful location we have ever stayed in. Eating lunch outside, squeezing oranges freshly picked from the trees every day, feeding the chickens, greeting the lovely Stig! What more could we want? Chris, Richard, Abigail & Sam.
A wonderful time. Almost a month of peace, fresh air and fun. I came to work - and it worked out. My toddler son loved the chickens and Stig, and I loved the internet connection. The perfect writer's retreat. Helen.

About the owner
Mick, Pirkko and Stig have lived here since January 2004 and have rented out since late that year. Our prority is making sure the accommodation is in perfect order and that guests have a good holiday. We're here if you need us and invisible if you don't! We do some part time work from home, for a UK research company, as and when needed.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We spent 18 months looking for a home that we could use as a business and just when we started to think it wasn't going to happen we found Finca Arboleda. You know when you find your dream, it was a warm, sunny day in November, not a cloud in the sky when we walked through the gates. I won't pretend it was perfect in fact it was a bit of a tip outside but a view of the dark blue Mediterranean in the distance, Orange and Olive trees laden with fruit made us both rub the "Goose bumps" on our arms! The estate agent was selling us the Stables that could be converted into a 2 bedroom bungalow, the separate housing that would make a fantastic apartment. Pinch me! We've found our dream! Finca Arboleda also ticks the location box, 10 mins from the coast, 5 mins to Vera and easy motorway access.
Unique benefits of the property
If you're after crowds and a busy nightlife you're probably reading the wrong advert. On the other hand if you enjoy being just a 10 minute drive from the coast or mountains, having a glass of wine and maybe a BBQ in the evening we're here, but also close enough to Vera or Mojacar if you fancy a night out The Old Stables is tucked away but only 50 metres from the pool. The apartment is closer to the pool and our house. We don't accept young children in peak season unless both units are rented by the same group to ensure peace and quiet for those wanting to chill. The fantastic pool is always a hit, it uses a salt purification system, so no harmful chemicals for you or your hair. We provide pool towels, hairdryers and loads of books which should help to keep the kilos down on the flight!
