'We had a fantastic view of the fiesta, the arrival of Carlos Quinto from the balconies. A great place to sit and watch the Spaniards go by, take the sun, and read my book.'
'The apartment was charming, and so well equipped.'
'We watched the Easter parade from the balconies, then decided to join in and follow the crowd.'
'Thanks for returning my daughter's jacket, we had such a lovely holiday, the position of the apartment was perfect, so close to the beach and the nightlife. The scenery in the north is so beautiful, breathtaking! We will definitely come back again.'
'We had a lovely holiday regardless of the weather. The countryside and scenery were wonderful. We enjoyed the apartment being central with plenty going on in and around the square. I have never seen such beautiful beaches as I did along that coast from Santander to Bilbao but Laredo must have one of the best I have ever seen. The food in the area was wonderful - lots of fresh sea food and tapas, good wine.'

Owner profile
About the owner
We got to know Laredo initially some 15 years ago through our Spanish au pair who is from here. We quickly fell in love with the whole area, the way of life and the amazing seafood and have made many friends here through her and her family. We have seen a lot of changes over the 15 years with the new airport in Santander, the building of the Guggenheim and the expansion of shopping centres in Bilbao, building of the new port in Laredo, however, the area still manages to keep it's warmth and charm. We love walking our beach and stopping off for coffee, we love walking in the mountains our favourite villages are the medieval Vega de Pas and Barcena Mayor. We often visit our lovely apartment and in the meantime Belen and her family look after the apartment for us.
Year purchased: 2008
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We moved from Ampuero in 2008 having had an apartment there for 3 years before. We found Ampuero a bit too quiet for us and our children and were lucky enough to be able to buy our property in Laredo after a long search. It is steeped in Cantabrian history and once belonged to a famous poet dating from the 14th century. We have modernised the apartment and love being in the centre of town watching the Spanish going about their daily lives.
Unique benefits of the property
Convenient for shops, individual fashions, shoes, gifts. Restaurants, our favourite is Guti's for it's fresh fish (fishermen often walk in with their latest catch) buses, and easy access to Bilbao and Santander (if we don't fancy driving) and everything you could wish to find in a seaside fishing town.
