Com Casa Nostra, is a spacious, well equipped, detached villa in one of the most sought after locations on the Costa Brava. Built in 2004, so now fully integrated with its surroundings, it sleeps up to 9 people comfortably in 4 bedrooms, all en suite. The villa has wonderful views over the surrounding hillside. It is approximately 5 minutes walk to the unspoilt, picturesque sandy bay of Sa Riera via hillside steps or road and just a couple of minutes by car. It is uphill on the way back so the less mobile would need to drive. Just 5 minutes drive to Begur, an exquisite, unspoilt medieval town with many restaurants. It is an easy drive to Pals, Palafrugell, Tamariu and Llafranc. Fly to Gerona, Perpignan or Barcelona with no frill airlines. Nearby attractions for adults and children include, waterparks, diving, snorkeling, boat hire, tennis, golf, cycling, horse riding, walking, skiing, museums and restaurants.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is very spacious and suitable for two families with either teenagers or younger children. Plenty of space, on three levels, to ensure a level of independence in a large group. Extremely well equipped property, used regularly by the owners to try and ensure that everything is available for a successful holiday. The villa's proximity to the beach makes it very desirable in the busy summer months as there is no need to drive. Ideal for older children who wish to make their own way to the beach. Very comfortable for a winter let as it has double glazing throughout, huge log burning stove and individual electric radiators with timers and thermostats.

Outside
The maturing garden with many oleanders, magnolia, cactus and fig and lemon tree offers an attractive outlook from the terrace which runs the entire width of the property on two levels. There is a covered dining area which a large table to seat 8-10 people comfortably. There is a good size barbecue and private pool (approx. 8m x 4m) with eight pool sun loungers with cushions plus chairs. The villa is situated in a private road serving just five properties so with little traffic and beautiful hillside views, a most peaceful and relaxing location. There is private off road parking for two cars.

Coast/Beach
Sa Riera, which is 5-10 mins walk, is one of the most picturesque beaches on the Costa Brava. It is a horseshoe, sandy bay, ideal for swimming and snorkelling, with three or four restaurants and a well stocked grocery shop (May-September). Other beaches at Pals (walkable from Sa Riera) and Sa Tuna under 10 mins by car and 15 minutes to Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc.

Golf
There are many golf courses nearby but the two courses at Pals and the Emporda course at Torroella are all approximately ten minutes drive and considered to be some of the best on the Costa Brava. Slightly further are the challenging course at Mas Nau and Golf Costa Brava at Girona.

Skiing
It is possible to spend the day skiing with the nearest slopes approximately 90 minutes.

Travel
The nearest airport is Gerona which is approximately 45 minutes drive. Barcelona and Perpignan are approximately 90 minutes. From Le Havre (750 miles) and Calais (900 miles) allow 12-14 hours drive. Car hire is highly recommended although there is a very good taxi service.

Distances
Gerona - 30 minutes. A lively, sophisticated city with tapas bars, museums, cathedral.
Barcelona - 75 minutes but a good train journey from Flaca station which is approximately 20 minutes.
Figueras - Dali museum, 60 mins.
Palafrugell - 15 minutes. Sunday market, fish market, cake shops, good quality clothes, linens, shoes and restaurants.
Medieval towns of Pals, Peratallada, Ullastret and the ruined fort at Torroella de Montgri.

Further details
A delightful area. Begur has retained its village atmosphere offering a range of small shops, restaurants and a weekly market and often outdoor entertainment in the main square in the summer. The views of the coastline and pine clad hills are breathtaking from Begur and the bay of Sa Riera resembles a picture postcard. Visitors to this area return year after year as it offers something for all age groups.

About the owner
We are a couple with three grown children of 25, 23 and 21. We live in Hampshire; my husband is co- owner of a small business and I work for a company selling oriental furniture.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We purchased the plot of land at Sa Riera in 2003 and had our house built the following year. I knew the area well having rented holiday accommodation since 1997. We love the peaceful atmosphere of Begur in the Autumn and Spring and the bustling, lively atmosphere in the Summer when the restaurants come alive and the square in Begur is busy with visitors. We really can't think what more you could want for a perfect family holiday location.

Unique benefits of the property
What is so wonderful about Com Casa Nostra (Catalan for Home from Home) is that it is in the most wonderfully tranquil setting yet only five minutes from Begur and the beach so you really don't have to travel far for anything. We designed the house, knowing our family was growing up, and that we would be inviting partners and friends. That meant creating both communal space and privacy - hence the airy, double height living area and four good sized bedrooms, all with en-suites.
