Laguneta is an architect designed villa, sleeping up to 13, built as a series of cottages and apartments around a central courtyard and pool. The villa is situated on a small side street, just below the castle. There are breathtaking views from the property to Gibraltar, the Mediterranean and Morocco. The village bars, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. The secure courtyard is shaded in the summer and is ideal for communal dining. The pool (8x4m) and 1-1.5m deep is overlooked by a large terrace, which is partly shaded by the ancient Carob tree. The 6 bedrooms all have en-suite shower/bathrooms and fitted wardrobes. The villa is heated throughout by low-energy ceramic electric panels. Laguneta can be booked exclusively by large groups (up to 13, or as self-contained apartments (for 2 or more)

Casa, is a self-contained cottage on 3 floors.
Sleeping 5 persons, in 2 bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities.
The property is entered from the courtyard, and on the ground floor is a triple bedded roCom and bathroom.
The first floor has a double bedroom with en-suite shower room.
The living area is situated on the second floor, and benefits from a fully fitted modern kitchen, together with a wood burning stove.
There are 2 terraces leading from the living area, both of which have spectacular views to the Mediterranean and N.Africa. The 1st terrace is for dining, and is shaded in the summer. The second terrace is a sunbathing terrace.
The property is heated throughout with electric panel radiators, for winter lets.

There are 3 apartments and 1 Casita at Laguneta. All are totally self-contained and have the same facilities.
The apartments all have double bedrooms, with en-suite shower rooms and the Casita is twin-bedded.
The living areas have fully fitted kitchens, and separate terraces.
The Casita, Ap.2 (first floor) and Ap.3 (second floor) have superb views from their terraces, whilst apartment 1, is on the ground floor, and has the benefit of a wood burning stove.
All have electric panel radiators. All windows and sliding doors to the terraces are double glazed.

The total villa is ideal for groups of friends, or extended families, who want to holiday together, whilst enjoying the privacy of their own apartment or cottage.
The communal courtyard is ideal for dining together alfresco, and the Casita and Apartment 1 are large enough for 13 people to dine together indoors.
The villa is entirely secure, as the only entrance is through the gated archway. This gate is lockable ensuring your maximum privacy.
The total villa is for 13 people, but we do provide cots and high chairs, so that extra babies can be accommodated, should you have any in your party.
The pool area is secured by another gate, so that toddlers cannot enter, except under adult supervision.

 

Notes on accommodation
There is ample car parking in the square at the top of the street. Laguneta is approached from the street, via an arched corridor with the main, wrought iron gate (fully lockable), being half way down this corridor. All the communal areas are well lit, with the entrance hall and communal staircases having timer switches. The apartments are accessed via a communal staircase to the right. They all have their own front door and are totally self-contained. The Casita and Casa are entered from the courtyard area, via their own traditional styled front doors. Steps lead up from the courtyard to the Pool and Terrace. The communal laundry is situated off the courtyard.

Outside
The Pool area is totally enclosed and is accessed from the courtyard. The pool is 6m X 4m and the depth is 1.00m to 1.5m.
There is a raised terrace above the pool, ideal for quiet snoozing, under the shade of the Carob Tree.
The courtyard is partially shaded during the summer months and is ideal for communal dining-alfresco. There are 2 barbecues in the courtyard area. A separate laundry room is also provided.
The total property is accessed through a gated archway from the quiet side street. This gate can be locked, giving you total privacy and security, when you book the whole villa.

Coast/Beach
The Mediterranean Coast is closest at Sabinillas, only 30 minutes away. Here there is a good public beach with ample parking, and safe swimming (there are beach showers every few hundred metres). Estepona Harbour area has some excellent bars and restaurants, with probably the best fish restaurant on the coast (at the back of the bar near the lighthouse-facing right onto the beach). Puerto Duquesa has a luxury harbour, with bars and restaurants, and the nearest golf course to Gaucin.

Golf
There are numerous Golf courses within 45 minutes drive of Laguneta. The nearest is Duquesa, 30 minutes away. Estepona, Sotogrande and Valderama are all between 30-45 minutes drive.

Special interest holidays
We can arrange Guided Walks, Horse riding and Yoga for any guests who would like to participate in these activities.

Travel
Gibraltar 1 hour: Malaga 1.5 hours: Jerez 2.5 hours: Car hire recommended (we can arrange this for you), although you can take the train from Granada/Ronda to Estacion de Gaucin (7.5kms away).

Distances
Ronda is 30 minutes drive away. Gibraltar and Marbella are an hour away. Malaga airport is 1.5 hours and Seville and Cordoba are 2.5 hours drive.

Further details
There are a number of bars and restaurants in Gaucin all within walking distance, including the Fructuosa where you can dine on the terrace overlooking the valley.
There are several small shops and 2 supermarkets in the village, again all within walking distance.
The Historic castle is just above Laguneta, and is clearly visible from the bedrooms of the apartments and the pool terrace.
The views over the orange and lemon trees to the coast and North Africa are truly breathtaking. All dwellings, except the ground floor apartment have excellent views. The pool terrace also shares the same spectacular views.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful, and of particular interest to those who enjoy walking and bird watching. This part of Spain is often referred to as ‘earthly paradise’. Eagles, falcons, buzzards, vultures, finches, bee-eaters and many other rare birds can be seen from the village.
