Detached villa in a quiet residential area 1.5km outside Estartit. It has a large garden with different areas for sitting, and a built-in BBQ area. There is a terrace, a large living/dining area, 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and kitchen. A large supermarket is 350m away. The swimming pool and leisure area is 250m from the house where there are extensive lawns for playing games or sunbathing, and a children’s' pool in addition to the main pool. Sunbeds are provided and there are extensive trees for shade. The nearest point on the beach is 5 minutes drive. The beach is extensive, sandy and very suitable for children with a variety of entertainments available for them. Estartit is full of bars, cafes and restaurants. Torroella de Montgri is also 5 minutes drive, a typical local small town with fascinating market A number of golf courses are available within 15 minutes drive. Additionally there are many marked walks in the area, and bikes can be hired.

Changeover day
On changeover day, guests leave at 10am and the house is available for new arrivals at 4pm. In high season changeover is usually Saturday but can be flexible at other times of the year.

Accessibility
There are a few steps up to the terrace, so the house may not be suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
Selection of garden chairs and tables which can be placed in a variety of areas either on the terrace or under trees. 2 large tables, 1 smaller table, 10 chairs of various kinds, 2 loungers and sun umbrellas provided. Plenty of space for car parking and children's games. Included large pool area 250 metres with shallow children’s pool, changing facilities and small gym - sunbathe under trees on the extensive lawns. A lifeguard is on duty. The area is never overcrowded.
Coast/Beach
The main beach is about 5 miles long with Estartit village at one end. It is a wide sandy beach and very suitable for children. The villa is about 5 minutes drive to the nearest point. The beach is busier nearer to Estartit and very quiet further away from it, and there are life guards on duty along it. There are a variety of smaller bays in the area - very pretty with rocky scenery about 20 minutes drive in either direction along the coast.
Golf
9 hole course - 7 minutes drive.
Full courses - 10/15 minutes drive.
Special interest holidays
Network of marked walks in the area which can be enjoyed straight from the house in the hills behind it.
Extensive diving is available to the Medas Isles just off Estartit, which is a protected area for marine life.
Mountain biking is very popular in the area and there are marked routes in the hills nearby. Bikes can be hired in nearly Torroella de Montgri.
Travel
Gerona airport is under 1 hour drive.
Barcelona Airport is about 1.75 hours drive.
To drive from Calais takes about 14 hours.
It is very useful to have a car at this house as it is a half hour walk into Estartit, though the supermarket is 10 minutes walk.

Estartit 5 minutes drive. Torroella de Montgri 5 minutes drive. Gerona town 45 minutes drive. Barcelona 1.5 hours drive. L'Escala 20 minutes drive.
Further details
There is a large supermarket with everything needed for self catering 350ms from the house. There are plenty of shops, banks, restaurants etc. in both Estartit and Torroella de Montgri. There are many restaurants in the countryside around and you will find details of these in the house.
There are many marked walks in the area. Climbing the hill behind the house gives you access to some of these, and a short drive will bring you to the start of more of them.
The Medas Isles off Estartit is a well known nature reserve, and there are opportunities to dive or snorkel there from Estartit.
Booking notes
A RETURNABLE deposit in sterling is taken in the UK to secure the booking and against serious damage. The rent can be paid in sterling six weeks before departure. Alternatively it can be paid in euros on arrival at the local agent. In either case the local agent will provide the key.

Owner profile
About the owner
We are a retired married couple living in Richmond, Surrey. We acquired the original land for this villa in the mid 1970s and throughout the years since we have had every school summer holiday at the house, as our children were growing. It is now a holiday home for our grandchildren!
We visit regularly throughout the year, particularly now in the spring and autumn, and still after all this time, love the area and all it has to offer.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We built our house in what was a vineyard. Gradually other detached houses were built in the area, but all are well spaced out with good gardens. The house has been extended and a new kitchen is being put in this winter.
We chose this area as it is a little away from the noise and bustle in Estartit itself, but it is just as easy to go into Torroella de Montgri, a small town with a very Spanish feel to it.
Unique benefits of the property
The large garden provides a variety of different areas in which to sit - sun or shade, and plenty of space for children to play.
The pool and lawns at the club are nearby, as is a large supermarket for all your self catering requirements.
