The house is situated on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada National Park a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and an area renowned for the richness of its flora and fauna and the quality of its air. It is the perfect place for writers, walkers, naturalists, artists, photographers and all lovers of nature. The property is surrounded by terraces of almond, olive, fig and walnut trees and from its altitude of 1150m there are breathtaking views over the Alpujarra valley, the local ‘white village’ of Cañar and south to the sea. Completely rebuilt in 2003, the house combines the traditional style of the original farmhouse with a cool, modern aesthetic and a high level of comfort and finish. It is designed to provide for all year round living, there is under-floor heating for the winter months and high levels of modern insulation to ensure exceptional comfort in the hot Andalucian summers. Water is supplied by its own spring, while solar and wind power generate plentiful electricity.

| Kitchen: | Spacious, open-plan kitchen and dining room. Fully equipped with cooker, fridge-freezer and washing machine and a comprehensive selection of cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and glasses. Adjoining sitting area with armchairs & small wood burning stove. |
| Living Rooms: | Large light sitting room overlooking the valley, with sofas TV and DVD/Video, mini Hi-Fi with Radio, Tape and CD player. There are bookshelves with reference books and also a large built in wood burner to take the chill off early spring & autumn evenings. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
All bed linen and towels are provided with the exception of beach/poolside towels. The property is cleaned and bed linen changed weekly. |
Notes on accommodation
Very efficient under-floor heating system provides ample winter warmth and the wood burning stove may be used for cool evenings during spring and autumn.
A shopping basket of basic supplies is provided upon arrival at no additional cost.

Outside
There are two terraces, one is shaded with table and chairs for lounging and eating out, the other has a filtered swimming pool (3 x 6m) for cooling off in the heat of summer.
Coast/Beach
Nearest beaches on the Costa Tropical are Playa Granada near Salobrena and at Torrenueva just east of Motril. Journey time about 35 mins.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada ski slopes at Pradollano are 1 1/4 hours away by car and are open until April in a good snow year.
Travel
The house is a comfortable two-hour drive from Malaga airport, the final 15 minutes of which is by way of a half metalled track up from the local spa town of Lanjaron. During the winter rains the track can become slippery and a 4WD vehicle is advisable. Ryan Air flies to Granada airport from Liverpool, East Midlands, and Stansted. Journey time from Granada airport to the house is only 1 hour! The are many flights to Malaga, of course, including Easyjet. Journey time is 2 hours.

Lanjaron: 15 minutes. Orgiva: 25 minutes. Granada: 45 minutes.
Further details
Pony trekking facilities are provided by a neighbour and may be pre-booked, as can visits to the Alhambra in Granada, a 45 min drive from the house. Nature walks, high altitude treks and other activities can also be arranged locally, please ask us. Lanjaron is well equipped with shops, chemists, banks and numerous bars and restaurants. The spa provides the opportunity for relaxing massage and hydrotherapy. The bustling Thursday street market in the neighbouring town of Orgiva is well worth a visit. Our English-speaking caretakers will meet you in Lanjaron and show you up to the house, they live nearby and will be on call throughout your stay to deal with any enquiries or problems that you may have.
New for 2007: We now have a broadband internet connection at the house for those who wish to bring their laptops with them. A telephone link can also be provided for long stays outside the main holiday periods. Please ask the owners for details.
Booking notes
A deposit of 25% is required at time of booking with the balance due at least one month before arrival.
Due to the nature of the terrain we regret that small children are not accepted.
