The renovation of the hundred and twenty year old flour mill was completed by award winning photographer David Waterman in 1997. Much of his work and images of his travels in Andalusia and Morocco decorate the walls of the mill. Keeping children (of all ages) occupied a games room is provided with table tennis, bar pool, bar football and a dart board, and of course a fridge for cool drinks. All bedrooms except two have en-suite facilities. The other two share one large bathroom. Wi-fi internet and satellite TV is on site. The pool is of natural stone within a mature garden with many shady areas for quiet contemplation. The large modern kitchen is a cook's dream. Many of the local “Pueblos Blanco” hold annual fiestas dates of which are provided. Malaga and Granada airports are both within an hours drive with cheap flights from most UK international airports.

Guest comments
It is always nice to be able to write to say thank you for a good holiday. However, I can say that in the case of Los Molinos it was exceptionally good holiday for us- we both felt it was one of the best.

Owner profile

David Waterman doubling as Harrison Ford

About the owner
The owner David Waterman is a retired award winning photojournalist who came to Spain in 1987 running photo workshops for photographers in Andalucia and Morocco. He bought and reformed Los Molinos a 120 year old mill in 1997. In 2005 he bought and renovated 65 Enciso as a second home.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
La Axarquia is a fabulous area of Andalucia, rich with the 600 year Moorish influence. Very green all the year round with the advantage of being close to the National Parks of the local Sierras. I was looking for a location to run my photo workshops which gave my clients many great landscape photo opportunities. I found that here in La Axarquia. The Mill had the extra feature of having a river running at the bottom of the garden all the year round, very rare here in Spain. Not far from the coast and international airports also close to a village which has a post office, a pharmacy, a health center, two banks with cash points, three supermarkets, and most importantly, good restaurants and bars.

Unique benefits of the property
With easy access, in a tranquil setting but not far from a village with all modern amenities. There is Wi-fi connection for those who wish to stay in touch. The games room and satellite TV will help overcome any boredom factor sometimes felt by teenagers on holiday with the family. There are many walks and villages of interest which we will itemize in our welcome package. This will also include local produce i.e. Virgin olive oil for which Periana is famous and two bottles our Los Molinos wine. Los Molinos is a holiday destination for "all seasons".
