Our cottage is located near to Iznajar just 1 hour's drive from Malaga or Granada airports. For a relaxing, simple holiday in uncomplicated surroundings, you can experience the best of living in rural Spain, surrounded by olive groves and stunning views. Our cottage is a comfortable, well equipped house with a private terrace and pool. It is only a 2 minute walk from the nearest village but its situation ensures that you feel part of rural life where the sun governs the day, from cock's crow to siesta and into the evening. You can sit and watch the sun set from the private terrace whilst enjoying a glass of wine or the local favorite, chilled fino sherry

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. Guests are asked not to arrive before 4pm and departure by 10.30am please, but times are negotiable.

Notes on accommodation
Our little house, Casita de la Cruz, has ceiling fans to keep you cool during the summer and is double glazed and centrally heated for those odd cooler nights.
Highchair and cot are available. We include gas, electricity and a welcome pack is provided on arrival.

Accessibility
There are steps to the house and terraces which are at various levels.
Inside the house are stairs and steps.
Our property is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with walking difficulties.

Outside
Outside the casita is a spacious, private and gated terrace with table, chairs, sun umbrella and barbecue.
There is a large, private pool (8m x 4m, depth from 1.1m to 1.8m) which we may use on occasion although we won’t disturb your privacy. The pool is fully fenced to provide security for small children and has steps down into the shallow end. The pool has tiled terraces which are lit at night and is equipped with sun loungers, chairs, large table, sun umbrellas and shower.
There is a spacious terrace overlooking the pool with a shade sail and an adjoining shower room and toilet with a fridge for your cold drinks.
We provide floats, lilos and games to use in the pool.
Coast/Beach
Local lakeside beach just a 10 minute drive away where you can walk, fly kites, play beach games and swim. Here is a beach restaurant with a shaded terrace and great views of the lake.
One hour drive (75 kilometres) to the coastal beaches of Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Torre del Mar with many attractions such as AquaPark and Sea Life Park.
Golf
30 minute drive to top class golf course at Antequera (18 hole, par 72) situated on mountainside with fantastic views of the surrounding area. Special rates apply at different times of year.
Skiing
Sierra Nevada ski resorts are just 1 3/4 hours away, catering for all levels of skiers different snow sports, and enjoying a long season. For lovers of extreme sports, a day snow boarding in the mountains can be arranged (prior booking necessary).
Travel
Flights to Malaga airport, 1 hour's drive to the house, or Granada airport 45 mins drive. Flights to Malaga: easyjet.com, flymonarch.com, bmibaby.com, britishairways.com, aerlingus.com. Flights to Granada: ryanair.com. Car hire is essential and owners can recommend good, cheap options.
Distances
Iznajar with its churches and moorish castle is 10 minutes drive. Situated on the cusp of Cordoba, Granada and Malaga provinces and just 15 mins from excellent motorways means that Antequera is a 20 minute drive, Granada is 45 mins by car, Cordoba is a 60 minute drive, and Seville is just 2 hours away. Priego de Cordoba, a stunning moorish and baroque town is just an hour's drive.
Spectacular Torcal Park and Flamingo Lake just 20 and 30 minutes away. Donkey and Wolf Sanctuaries nearby.
Further details
The local villages of Iznajar and Vva. de Tapia have plenty of shops, mini-supermarkets and banks with ATMs and there are plenty of country restaurants, the nearest being only 5 minutes away.
Our home is adjacent to the cottage allowing us to greet you and maintain and clean the cottage to our own high standards.
During the summer months, our professional managers are on hand to greet you, handle any problems and ensure that you have a point of contact for advice and queries.
We can assist with bookings for any of the following to make your stay even more memorable: massage, facial or pedicure, at the Casita or in a nearby village, vegetarian meals can be delivered, horse riding available 10 minutes away. Local guided walks to suit all abilities for a day or half day, including impressive El Torcal and Subbetica National Parks, specific bird watching guided walks can be arranged, for lovers of extreme sports you could enjoy a day out quad biking or even snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada, a painting day with a local artist, a day out with an expert in digital photography to make sure you take home the best images of your stay in Andalucia.

August 2011 La Casita is a perfect venue for that "get-away-from-it-all" break. The facilities it provides are of an excellent standard and everything is spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed for a perfect holiday and much more besides. The house was extremely well equipped, with a generous welcome pack of groceries - Keri's home-made fig jam and olives were particularly popular. Being able to use the washing machine was a great bonus and the Sky box meant that we could keep in touch with a little news when we felt the urge! Our daughter particularly enjoyed the use of the pool. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner on the patio, with the most glorious views over the local olive groves. Iznajar is a real gem of a location, ideal as a touring base - we had fabulous day trips to Granada, Ronda, Cordoba and El Chorro. We also enjoyed lots of walks in the local area. About the owner
We are a retired couple who moved to inland Andalucia for the clean air, drier atmosphere and of course, the sunshine!
We have fallen in love with the olive covered hills and the genuinely friendly local people. We spend some of the summer weeks in England and whilst we are away, nearby friends act as our managers and take care of our guests.
Our rescued Shitzu dog travels back and forth with us and is happy to have different people around the place when we are here.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted to buy a property inland, perfect for relaxation but not too isolated, to be near water but not on the coast, no more than 1 hour away from airports and the coast - quite a tall order!
However, we found all that with our house near Lake Iznajar. To create our 2 bedroomed Casita we converted outbuildings, using local workmen, building and furnishing it in the Andaluz style. Our guests can relax by the pool or on one of the terraces, walk by the lake or in the hills, visit and learn about the wonderful culture and history of Spain, eat in any number of local restaurants - and still be only an hour from the airport and coastal attractions.
Unique benefits of the property
The Casita provides all modern comforts with different terraces and a large pool where our guests can completely relax, especially with a cold drink in hand from the poolside fridge. Our guests find that when they shop, go for a drink in a bar or join in with the local fiestas, they experience Spain at it’s traditional best.
Out and about, you can easily reach the wonders of the Alhambra in Granada, the ancient areas of Cordoba, the castle in Antequera, the stupendous natural scenery or enjoy the excitement of the coastal attractions.
