There is a grove of aromatic olive trees on two tiers to explore, an elevated terraced area with brick barbeque and mosaic tables for alfresco dining with 360 degree breath taking views of the valley, mountains and the sea. There’s extensive outside terracing with a large pool, sitting areas and an elevated terrace area. The olive trees are on two terraces covering an area of 7,000 sqm. There are a number of places where you can eat; the dining room and the elevated terrace of course but there are areas with tables and chairs provided for breakfast overlooking the valley. The nearby town of Almunecar is within 20 minutes drive of the villa. It has an array of shopping areas, beaches and restaurants and bars to enjoy. The town functions for the entire year. Amazingly, within a two hour drive is a skiing resort on the mountain range of the Sierra Nevada. There’s also Granada, which offers the Alhambra and beautiful Bacerlona-esq streets for shopping and dining.

The minimum stay for this property is 7 nights.
Changeover day
The changeover day is Saturday. Guests are required to vacate the property by 11 am to enable the villa to be cleaned for the next party of visitors. The new guests may occupy the villa from 3pm onwards.
| Bedrooms: | Master bedroom with en-suite. Two further bedrooms are open planned with spiral staircase leading from one to the other. These two bedrooms share a downstairs bathroom. A further reception room has a sofa bed which folds out into a double bed. |
| Bathrooms: | One en-suite bathroom serves the master bedroom. The other bathroom is shared between the remaining two double bedrooms. Outside there is a shower with saloon doors and a separate WC. |
| Kitchen: | The large kitchen is fully fitted with a gas/electric hob and an electric fan oven. There is a washing machine, fridge freezer, kettle and toaster. There is ample crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils. |
| Utility Room: | Dining Room: There is an oak dining table with eight chairs. There is also a large oak dresser which is home to the crockery and glassware. |
| Living Rooms: | There are two comfortable settees – a three seater and a two seater. There is a CD player Hi-Fi with a collection of CD’s and also a portable DVD player. A large wood burning stove provides heat during the winter months. |
| Other: | Reading Room: This is accessed from the kitchen via a spiral staircase. There is a two seater sofa with two chairs. This quiet area is ideal for resting, relaxing and reading. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
We provide clean towels and bed linen, but we would recommend that you bring your own beach towels. The property will be cleaned before you arrive. We will provide a change of linen if you are staying for 14 days. |

Notes on accommodation
Although the area in front of the house and around the pool is bordered by balustrade as protection from the steep incline between terraces, parents will still have to remain diligent of young children’s enthusiasm for adventure!
The same can be said for the elevated terraced area. Although fenced off it isn’t an ideal play area for young children. Wheelchair users will find ease of access in and around the ground floor of the property and surrounding terraced area.
For your comfort there are two large fans provided for use in the summer months and two electric radiators for use in the evenings during the cooler months.
In view of the remote location of the Villa, guests will be met in Almunecar on arrival and escorted to the property. We regret that we cannot accept pets in the property.
Accessibility
As already mentioned a car is essential to fully enjoy your stay. The terraced areas are flat but there are steep slopes between the terraces. Mobile phone signals are good.
Outside
The design of the house allows for enjoyment of both the summer and winter periods Bedrooms remain cool during the summer period as they are exposed to the least amount of direct sunlight. During winter months the large wood burning stove can warm the house quickly. There are also two electric radiators which can be moved from room to room. There are large terraced areas around the pool, together with the elevated terraced area. These are ideal for sun bathing, alfresco dining, entertaining and reading. The pool is for your exclusive use and is cleaned/maintained frequently.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are in Alumunecar – about 20 minutes drive from the Villa. There are many other beaches accessible by car, along the coastline. Various water sports are available at some of these locations.
Golf
There are two golf courses within thirty minutes drive of the villa. One is at Salobrena (Los Moriscos) and the other is close to Nerja (La Baviera).
Skiing
Excellent skiing can be found at the resort Sol y Nieve close to Granada in the Sierra Nevada. This is between ninety minutes and two hours drive from the villa. Skiing and snowboarding equipment can be hired at the resort.
Special interest holidays
There are many walks available in the mountains surrounding the property. Also within a short drive up the mountain is Peña Escrita. This natural park in the hills behind La Herradura is a project originated and managed by the local municipal government to create a wildlife area and tourist venue. Being the highest accessible point in the area, it offers stunning views and good hiking opportunities.
Travel
We would recommend that you hire a car at the airport (Malaga or Granada). This will also enable you to visit many places of interest during your stay.
Distances
The town of Almunecar is around twenty minutes away by car. Here there are many shops and supermarkets for buying provisions during your stay. There are some shops closer to the villa for certain essential items.
Further details
The Villa is around one hour’s drive from Malaga airport and around an hour’s drive from the airport in Granada. A car is essential for travelling to and from the property as it is secluded. The Villa is accessed via a steep and winding concrete road. A car will also enable you to enjoy the surrounding areas.
Booking notes
We require a deposit of 25% at the time of booking. The balance of your invoice should be paid six weeks before your arrival. A refundable deposit of £200 is required at the start of your rental to cover any breakages. Payment is acceptable by either a UK or Spanish cheque or via a bank transfer.

About the owner
The villa is owned by a couple who are both doctors. The husband is a Consultant Cardiologist and the wife is a Consultant Occupational Health Physician.
We have two children, Rebecca and Philip. Philip is responsible for the villa rentals. We all live in Cambridgeshire.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted a property that offered different things at different times of the year. In the spring, summer and autumn the sun and sea can be enjoyed. In the winter months there are ample walks and good skiing is available within easy reach.
The property is extremely private and secluded. Rest and relaxation can be easily achieved.
Unique benefits of the property
The views from the villa are excellent. The property allows 360 degree views of the valley, mountains and sea.
The pool is much appreciated in the warmer weather, which is enjoyed for the majority of the year. The extensive terracing provides space for relaxing as well as entertaining.
