Owner profile

Kevin + Judith at home in Plymouth.

About the owner
Judith Scott is a retired teacher and lecturer. Kevin Williams is a semi-retired lawyer. They live in South Devon. We bought the house to renovate at the start of 2008 and finished it in 2009. 2011 was our first rental year and it proved very successful with July and August fully booked. We designed the layout to suit ourselves and our 5 adult children+ partners. We spend as much time as possible there so have furnished for comfort, cooking and to be spacious inside and out for good sized parties of people.

Year purchased: 2008

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We spent several years touring France, Spain and Italy before settling on the Lecrin. The beauty of inland Spain is the delight of historical towns and villages, the friendly and relaxed attitude of the Spanish and the cultural and nightlife which is abundant. We also enjoy the Costa Tropical beaches(30 mins) where you can find wonderful coves along the National Park and enjoy al fresco food at the beach restaurants. Behind the house rises the Sierra Nevada mountains(old Moorish villages)+Spa town Lanjaron(20mins) Our 5 adult children and partners assure us that the nightlife of Granada(30mins) is fantastic! Going to a late night concert or a meal in Granada feels completely safe -Spanish families will take their young children out in July or August til late at night without worry.

Unique benefits of the property
Acequias is a sleepy village(but working/rural Campo/donkeys etc. at bottom of garden). We have great views across valley and to mountains. We love the privacy it affords, you can just lock yourself or wander around the village and meet neighbours(Spanish+European) or take a quiet stroll along the valley to Niguelas. You can really relax here and might find it tempting to decide to give the car a rest. If you want to tour around there is plenty to see. Our property is well equipped-it is our home, not just a holiday rental. There is plenty of outdoor space for recreation, sunbathing, sitting by pool etc. +indoor sitting space. Can accommodate young/ old, able /less able and seperate families(upstairs/down). Secure side patio for bikes/etc. Good sized pool.
