Outside
There are three garden/terrace/balcony areas. The main terrace is huge with views out to the sea and down to the swimming pool. It houses a large table and six reclining chairs, two sun loungers, a drinks table and a built in BBQ. The upper garden and terrace area has views across La Herradura bay and houses a table with two chairs. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have access to a large balcony with views across the sea and La Herradura bay and also has a table and two chairs.
Coast/Beach
La Herradura beach is a five minute drive from the house along a quiet local road. Walking would take about 15 minutes downhill, the return journey would take slightly longer as its up hill!!
La Herradura beach has several beach restaurants with sun loungers and shades, there are also water sports and sailing available.
There are numerous other beaches in the area, including a naturist beach, all accessible by car.
Golf
An 18 hole golf course is located at Velez Malaga, a half hour drive from the house. There is also a 9 hole course at Solobrena, twenty minute drive from the house.
Skiing
Skiing in the Sierra Nevada, just above Granada, is an hours drive away.
Special interest holidays
La Herradura is well known for its scuba diving schools. There are two in the immediate area, with facilities for the novice and experienced diver alike. Walking in the Alpajarras and also the natural park immediately adjacent the house.
Travel
Malaga and Granada airports are an hours drive away. Car hire is essential.
Distances
The nearest village is La Herradura, a five minute drive away. The towns of Almunecar, Motril and Nerja are all approximately a twenty minute drive. The cities of Granada and Malaga are an hours drive away. Rhonda and Cordorba are also accessible within a one day tour.
Further details
La Herradura is a lively little fishing village which boasts an excellent selection of restaurants and bars and also has a daily fresh fish, meat and vegetable market. There are a choice of banks, supermarkets and local shops. The excellent road communications make access to the nearby towns of Almunecar, Motril or Nerja very easy, where you may wish to visit the local markets or famous Caves at Nerja.

To book simply contact the owner to check availability and proceed with booking. To confirm your reservation a non refundable deposit of 25% of the rental amount, plus a 200 euro refundable security damage deposit is required. Payment of the balance will be due seven days prior to arrival. Payment can be made by any major credit card, apart from American Express, or by cheque. All bookings will be confirmed in writing.

Hello,
We live near Dolgellau in Wales. We moved here from Kent in 1989 for business reasons - we own an hotel, Penmaenuchaf Hall, recently awarded AA Hotel of the Year, Wales, 2009/10.
We have two daughters and two young grandchildren.
We enjoy travelling, good food and wines, interior design, fishing, walking, mountain biking and road biking. We enter the Cape Argus Pic 'n Pay cycle tour in Cape Town, South Africa, each year, a 79 mile ride which we complete in 3.5 and 4 hours respectively. We have also done the London to Brighton bike race. We raise money for the Air Ambulance Wales and also a childrens charity is South Africa.
We consider ourselves young at heart and fun loving!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We adore this region in Spain.
We have been visiting La Herradura for the past 22 years, as other members of our family have owned property and it seemed a natural progression that we should buy a home there too.
The weather is a big plus point with temperatures staying warm enough for us to enjoy breakfast on the terrace even in January.
La Herradura is unique. It has retained a true local Spanish ambience. We like the fact that there are locals who don't speak English (although there is always help at hand if necessary). The municipal market always has wonderful fresh fruit, fish and meat and the local bakery produce an abundance of breads and pastries.
It's a great place to chill or be active, there's always activities on offer or sunloungers to bask in the sun!

It is easy to access from both Malaga and Granada airports, the journey taking 1hour and 1 and a quarter hours respectively.
The area is stunningly beautiful with mountains falling in to the sea! The house is adjacent a natural park where there are wonderful walks with spectacular coastal views and inquisitive mountain deer.
We love the light and airiness the house offers, it is certainly more spacious that the average house in the area and with cool marble floors throughout, it's a perfect retreat after a day in the sun.
The terrace and garden areas are more than ample, there is always somewhere to hide quietly with a good book or socialize around table and chairs with a glass of wine
