Notes on accommodation
All the bedrooms have ceiling fans and shutters. No pets except for Guide Dogs.
For families with small children there is a high chair, cot and playpen available on request. Baby-sitting can be arranged.
There is a gate at the top of the stairs that lead to the pool.
Accessibility
This house is not good for wheelchairs as there are too many stairs.

1 hour 25 mins to Tarifa and Atlantic Ocean (also 30 mins SuperCat to Tangier).
Golf
Valderama (Sotogrande) - 40 minutes drive
Guadalmina (San Pedro del Alcantara) - 45 minutes drive
There are other golf courses situated on the coast around Estepona which is also 40 minutes drive.
Skiing
There is a direct train from Gaucin Estacion to Granada approx. 3.5 hrs where you can get a coach to the Sierra Nevada ski resort which takes about 3 hrs 50 minutes. Alternatively you can take the motorway to Malaga (1.5 hrs)and then inland from there to Granada which takes another 1.5hrs. Door to door to the Ski Resort is 3hrs 40 mins. If you leave at 7am you will be on the slopes by 10am and return home at 4pm from Sierra Blanca. There is a Granada ski weather telephone number you can all the night before to check snow conditions.
Travel
Malaga Airport: 1.5 hours. Gibraltar Airport: 1 hour. Seville Airport: 2.5 hours. Jerez Airport: 1.45 hours. Car hire is easily available at all airports.

Gaucin is a large, thriving village with 6 restaurants and many tapas bars. There are 3 supermarkets plus many small shops, chemist with trained homeopath and herbalist, 2 banks with cash machines, medical centre providing 24 hr shared cover with neighbouring village. Large municipal outside pool with restaurant and tennis courts, plus horse riding available locally. There are lots of places to visit nearby; Ronda with Spain's oldest bullring, famous Neolithic caves in Montejaque. For surfers, 1 hr drive to Atlantic beaches at Tarifa.
Booking notes
A deposit of 50% is required on booking the property, the balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.
NB. Cancellations: the property will be re-advertised as a special offer on Owners Direct web site and, if a booking is taken up, the deposit will be refunded. Should you cancel after paying the balance, the same procedure will be taken and if the advert is successful the full amount will be refunded. Lucinda Norreys was bought up between Southern Spain and Chelsea, London. She manages the two family homes and makes sure that everything is perfect for the guest's arrival.
Lucinda has lived in Spain on and off for 30 years and know about everything you might need to know on holiday or as a resident as she raised her two sons in Spain and knows what makes a good holiday and comfortable living accommodations for all the family.
She will put together a personal itinerary on request to make sure you can do what you like to do on holiday and visit places you find interesting. So please do not hesitate to contact her if you have any further questions.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
My family were the first Foreign family to buy in Gaucin 30 years ago. Each house has been designed and chosen with the views and comfort in mind. Warm in Winter and cool in Summer, with privacy.
They first rented a property in the village and took their time before buying the right houses to renovate it.

Food baskets are placed in the homes so the newly arrived guests have a nice welcome package to start the holiday off in the right frame of mind.
Family members live next door with a 24 hour caretaker/ handy man so if anything breaks it will be mended immediately. Personalized information of what to do and see can be tailor made to fit around your interests to make your stay even more comfortable and interesting.
WiFi has just been installed in both houses in October 2010. We have a special winter rental package from November to May for £1000.00 per month. This is for the gusts that might want to lock up their property back in the UK and retire for the winter in Spain.
We have central heating, which very few houses in Gaucin have so it is super comfortable and ceiling fans for coolness
