About the area
There are 3 main beaches in L'Escala, all large with clean golden sand which are all safe for children. La Platja de Riells is within a 15 minute walk. Pedestrianised promenade overlooks the beach. There are many restaurants and shops overlooking the beach. Cala Montgo, a beach in an enclosed rocky bay, is a 5 minute drive away. Restaurants and bars are also there. Water sports are available. Empuries, with Greek and Roman ruins, and a fine beach, is 10 minutes drive away.

Ski station at Vallter 2000, within 2 hours drive.
How to get there
Nearest airports: Girona, 40 minutes drive. Ryanair have regular services from many European countries.Barcelona, served by BA, Iberia, Easyjet, Monarch and Ryanair, is a 90 minute drive. Perpignan, although in France, is a 70 minute drive and is served by Ryanair. All major car hire companies operate from these airports. Driving by car from Calais is a 13 hour + drive, but is autoroute apart from the final 12 miles from Figueras.
Figueras is the nearest major town, being a 20 minute drive away. The Dali museum is situated there. Girona is a 30 minute drive, with Barcelona being 80 minutes drive away. Perpignan, in France, can be reached in 1 hour. The nearest Pyrenean ski resort is under a 2 hour drive.
A bar that also has a bakery, is 250m away. A bike rental shop is also nearby. Go-carting, horse riding, scuba diving, tennis, jet ski hire, dinghy hire are all within reach.

Just back from a fantastic 12 days at your villa and we had a wonderful time. Your villa is lovely, very clean and spacious and so well equipped! Every room had everything we could possibly need - plenty of storage in all the bedrooms and bathrooms, lovely comfortable king size beds and air-conditioning, well equipped kitchen including drinks fridge and utility room. But most impressive was the outside space, plenty of sun beds (with cushions), lots of chairs and seating areas, which can be shaded if necessary, the brilliant bbq area and outside fridge and the table tennis table, also a big hit with children and adults alike! The pool was perfect, we all had lots of fun and the diving end was appreciated very much for diving practice by our youngsters. The area around the villa is very peaceful and only a shortish walk to the beaches and restaurants. The main promenade has plenty of restaurants and is bustling without being overly busy. The beaches are beautiful, well worth taking the car to find the quieter ones too. All in all, it was by far our BEST holiday ever and we will definitely be coming back again!!
Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers and families with young children
We had a great time, thank you. Everyone felt at home and the villa had everything we needed and more. We found plenty to do nearby but also enjoyed our time "at home" playing table tennis, relaxing round the pool and reading some of the books provided. The kitchen was full of all sorts of useful gadgets (including the cava stopper which came in handy for the local, lovely and inexpensive bubbles!) and plenty of crockery and cutlery. The bedrooms were comfortable and well furnished and the three bath/shower rooms meant that six adults were able to cohabit easily for the duration of the holiday and there were no arguments over who had which room.
We have nothing but good things to say about your villa , everything that one could need was provided for and all bedrooms/bathrooms were very comfortable. The availability of satellite tv was a real plus , enabling us to keep up-to-date with Wimbledon ( and all the soaps of course).
