Cortijo Los Almendros is surrounded by views of extensive olive groves, mountains and open countryside providing a beautiful location for a relaxing away from it all holiday. Here you can soak up the sun by the pool, from where it is only a few steps away to refill your glass from our poolside bar. Ideal for walkers, photographers, artists and mountain bikers. Also perfectly situated to experience one of Europes most beauiful and historic regions with easy access to Granada, Cordoba, Sevilla and Ronda. Alternatively for the more adventurous we can arrange numerous activities including horse riding, quad biking and off road trail biking. We are within easy walking distance of Estacion de Salinas, where you will find all the amenities necessary for your holiday including a small supermarket, tobacconist, pharmacy, bakery, butchers, bank and of course 5 excellent tapas bars and restaurants.

Notes on prices
Prices are per week in UK Pounds. And we are happy to accomodate any length of stay from 3 days (7 days in peak periods) onwards. Discounts will be given for lets of more than 2 weeks. Major discounts will be given for long term off peak lets.
Changeover day
This year we are willing to consider any change over day to take advantage of cheap midweek flights. We ask that arrival be after 4.00 p.m giving us time to prepare your accommodation. We would be grateful if you could vacate the apartment by 10.00am.

Notes on accommodation
Cortijo Los Almendros is suitable for both couples and families of all ages who just want to relax or explore the surrounding areas. Nearby there are five good bars/restaurants all of which come highly recommended for there great range of tapas and home cooking and are visited by both tourists and locals from miles around. Estacion de Salinas, Cafe Bar Mejias, and Restaurant Manolo all have a menu del dia as well as an al la carte menu to suit all budgets. For those extra special occasions why not book a table at the 5 star Bobadilla hotel 3 km away. If you prefer to stay at home we don't have any silly rules about no inflatables in the pool and the children can make as much noise as they like. Cortijo Los Almendros is a familiy home to two children aged 9 and 11 so we know what children want. Happy children means happy and relaxed parents. Babysitting can also be arranged for those wishing to explore alone or have a special night out.
Accessibility
People with disabilities are welcome and the apartment is all on one level. There is only a small step at the entrance to the apartment, however the gravelled outside areas and the four steps leading to the pool would make wheelchair access difficult.
Outside
Los Almendros is set in 1.5 acres of old almond trees and now also include plum, peach, pomegranate, figs, and membrillo (quince apple). We have three terraces. Your private courtyard with BBQ area leading to the pool terrace. The pool area is gated for safety and there are steps built into the 8 x 5m pool. There is a pool bar and ample space for sunbathing. Finally we have the top terrace primarily used by the main house or for catered dining. From sun rise to sun set you can always find a sun trap by the pool or shade in the courtyard under the tree. Children are welcome to play on the trampoline or help build the tree house! Alternatively, for dog lovers, you can adopt one of our three dogs for the week I am sure they would love the extra attention. Or how about feeding our resident Macaw CJ who will give you a warm 'Hola' and ask for a walnut. Please note that we do not permit smoking inside our apartment however ash trays are provided for smoking outside.
Coast/Beach
We are within 40 minutes of all the beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol including gems such as El Palo and Arana beaches. We are also only 10 minutes away from Lake Iznajar a favourite spot for locals at weekends and we often frequent 'the beach front' restaurant. Also we are within 40 minutes of the stunning Lake El Chorro.
Golf
There is a challenging Golf course at Antequera only 20 minutes away. The course consists of 18 holes par 72 with 10 lakes and amazing views over El Torcal.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada ski resort is 1 hour 15 mins from here. The season usually starts in December through to April. It is suitable for all levels of skiing and has 80km of piste. So why not ski one day and sit by the pool and recover the next!
Travel
Granada is our nearest airport only 35 minutes away however Malaga, which offers a greater choice of flight times is only 45 minutes away. Salinas is easily found off the Malaga to Granada motorway and close to the towns of Archidona, Loja and Rio Frio. Although all amenities are within walking distance we would strongly recommend hiring a car to take full advantage of the surrounding area. Should you prefer we can arrange collection from either airport.
Distances
We are well situated for easy access to explore Archidona (10mins) and its Plaza Ochavada, Rio Frio (8 mins) with its trout farm and numerous fish restaurants, Antequera (25mins)for numerous shops, bars, restaurants, architecture and bull ring, Granada with it's Moroccan quarter and magnificent Alhambra Palace (45mins), Seville (90mins), Malaga(45mins) Cordoba, Jerez, Cadiz, Jaen and Gibralta all within easy driving distance.

Los Almendros is situated in the most beautiful region of Spain. In 2007 we came on our first ever 'inland' Spanish holiday. We fell in love with the region so much that four months later we moved and set up our home here in Cortijo Los Almendros. We now want to share our experience with you and hope that we have thought of everything to make your holiday an enjoyable experience.
For children you can take a guided tour of Lobos Park and listen to the night howl of the packs, or climb/walk over El Torcal and be amazed at the beautiful rock formations and spot eagles flying high above you. Visit the amazing Isla Magical theme park in Seville which comes highly recommended by our two children. There is also the donkey sanctuary and flamingo lake only 25 mins away. The water park at Torremolinos is only 50 mins away as are Tivolli world theme park, sea life centre and dolphin safaris.
For the adventurous we can arrange numerous activities including horse riding and pony trekking, trail biking, quad biking, kayaking, paragliding, archery, and climbing, some of which may have to be arranged before your arrival to ensure availability.
For the ultimate relaxation holiday spa days can also be arranged.
If that is not enough then throughout the summer months a local fiesta is not far away where you can sample true Spanish life. Everyone takes part from the youngest to the oldest with women and children dressed in traditional costume and the men in their finery on horseback. There will be eating, drinking, music and dancing until the early hours. And on hot afternoons the water/foam parties are not to be missed!

Bookings can be made either by telephone or email. A 20% non refundable deposit will be required at the time of booking and the balance is due 8 weeks prior to your arrival.
