Beautifully furnished air-conditioned apartment with marble floors, leather sofas and contemporary furniture. The lower terrace is perfect for breakfast in the morning sun, and you can also dine on the large upper terrace too where you'll also find sun-beds, rattan sofas and a Mexican-style brick BBQ. The terraces overlook the gardens and pools (inc toddler pool) and the Sierra Bermeja mountain range is a fabulous backdrop. The 'real' Spain is literally on your door step with some great beach bars (chirringuitos) and both traditional and modern Spanish eateries (ventas). The rural setting of many ventas is really beautiful, and most have outdoor terraces. Alternatively, try Sabinillas beach front, or harbour-side at Puerto Duquesa for a more international feel; all are relaxed and family-friendly. Within walking distance are the bars/restaurants of Casares Golf Club, 5* Finca Cortesin Golf and Spa (with ice room) and Casares/Manilva beach.

Change-over days are flexible to help you get the best flight deals. Arrival/departure times are also flexible depending on availabilty; earlies/lates must be agreed at time of booking.

Accessibility
First floor apartment; one flight of steps to apartment, plus another flight to the roof-top solarium.
Outside
The penthouse has upper and lower terraces: the lower terrace is east facing with garden/pool views and is in the shade from early afternoon. Breakfast is super here and the table seats four. There's seating for 6 on the extensive roof-top solarium, plus cushioned rattan sofas, sun loungers, and a charcoal Mexican-style brick BBQ. The shared pools, with sun-loungers & parasols, sit in spacious tropical gardens and a qualified life-guard attends the large pool during opening times in the mid/high season. The small pool is open year-round.
Coast/Beach
There are many blue-flag beaches in the area, Casares beach is under 1km away (with parking), and continues on to Sabinillas town, and Estepona in the opposite direction. All beaches have their coves and rock pools for children who like to explore and several have sports equipment hire. Activities can be arranged locally, eg water-skiing, scuba diving, banana boats, fishing, dolphin/whale watching trips. Puerto Duquesa, 5 mins away also has full marine facilities. All have beach bars/cafes.
Golf
Too many to mention - this is Costa Del Golf! There are 20 championship courses within a 30 minute drive; those close by include: El Finca Cortesin Golf Resort & Spa - within 15 mins walking distance and home to the Volvo World Match Play. Casares Golf Club is just across the road and includes The Brasserie restaurant and terrace bar - 5 min walk away. Dona Julia 1km. Estepona Golf 3km, Duquesa Golf and Country Club 3km. Sotogrande Golf and Country Club 10km. Valderrama 12km.

Skiing
Ski resorts are 2 hours drive away in the Alpujarra mountains.
Travel
To really enjoy the area we strongly recommend hiring a car, and the roads are very good to drive on. Tolls roads are quiet and well sign-posted - the average cost from Malaga airport (50 mins away) in the high season is around 8 euros. Gibraltar airport is closer but flights are less frequent, and you'll probably experience some congestion on the outskirts. Car pick-up/drop-off at Malaga airport couldn't be easier - ask for details.
Distances
Trips to Seville, Cordoba and Granada are achievable in a day. The ancient mountain-top town of Ronda is a must especially via the mountains/pine forest route, stopping at vista points to watch vultures and eagles circle above! If you're going to Gibraltar to see the famous caves and Barbary Apes don't forget your passports. Andalucian towns and cities: Sabinillas: 5 minute drive. Estepona 10 min. Marbella / Puerto Banus: 25 min. Sotogrande: 15 min. Seville and Granada 2 hours. Ronda: 1.25 hrs.
Further details
The nearest quality supermarkets - SuperSol in Sabinillas & Mercadona towards Estepona are within a 5 minute drive. A petrol station (with small shop for basic stuff) and taxi rank are located at the bottom of the road, 1km away (opposite the beach). The nearest banks, chemists & local shops are also in Sabinillas. All the towns have their market days, mainly in the summer months, and are usually awash with shoes, handbags, jewellery, arts & crafts, and local produce like olives and spices etc. More information in the apartment including maps & useful telephone numbers. A general information pack will be sent with booking confirmation.
Booking notes
A £150 non-refundable deposit is payable with booking. The remaining balance is due 2 months prior to departure. Cancellations: 4-8 weeks before departure - 50% refund. Within 4 weeks of departure - nil refund. A £100 returnable security deposit is also required at the time of booking and will be refunded within approx 14 days, once the apartment has been checked and keys/electronic gate fobs returned. Payment by bank transfer or cheque.

About the owner
We bought our penthouse apartment here in Casares simply because the area is so beautiful and diverse.
The location is peaceful and spacious, and there’s plenty to do nearby if you want to be active - beach/golf/walking/cycling/bird watching etc.
If you do just want to chill – it’s fab!
If you're into great food, there's so much choice from casual beach-side, international in Duquesa, Marbella and Puerto Banus, and rural ventas -traditional Spanish, including some fantastic conversions.
It’s our second home so have furnished it really well; hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
