Notes on accommodation
The air-conditioning to all rooms doubles as winter heating, and is included in your rental. A child's cot can be supplied on request, at £25 per week or £5 per day.
Accessibility
The apartment is on the ground floor with no internal steps, and has wide doorways and so is perfect for those with limited mobility. Access from outside need not involve steps. For those with young children, a wide open space exists in front of the private terrace, so that it is possible for them to play beyond the confines of the apartment, still under your eye. Choice of secure underground parking accessed with electronic key or on site parking nearby. All keys to be returned as advised.
Outside
The apartment terrace has uninterrupted views out across the grounds to a large communal circular pool, with a lovely separate children's pool alongside. The pool is open throughout the year, and has showers and a toilet block with changing area. Communal sunloungers and parasols are provided free of charge on the immaculate pool terraces. Please bring your own pool towels. The apartment terrace has a dining table and 4 chairs for outdoor dining. Ideal for families with small children, as they are not confined to the terrace for play, since spacious open gardens and grassed areas lie just beyond the low wall, with the pools beyond. A careful eye can be kept on them whilst parents relax on the terrace and enjoy the blissful setting. The Sierra Bermeja mountains rise majestically in the one direction, and there are views across sweeping grounds planted with colourful gardens to the sparkling Mediterranean in the other.
Coast/Beach
The local beach has a Blue Flag award and is within walking distance, or a brief drive, at under 1km away. Free parking. Wonderful sandy beaches also at Estepona, Sabinillas and Sottogrande, all just a short drive of 5 - 15 minutes. Further west are the wind surfing beaches of Tarifa, beyond Gibraltar.
The marinas at La Duquesa and Puerto Banus offer a wide selection of water sports, sailing, exotic yachts and people watching. There is also a ruined castle lookout to explore on the local beach.
Golf
This stretch of the Costa del Sol, west of Marbella, is not known as the Costa del Golf for nothing! The area abounds in prestigious and challenging golf courses, with the 5 star Finca el Cortesin right next to our site, and the 9 / 18 hole Casares Golf opposite our gates. Within a 5-15 minute drive are Dona Julia, Manilva Golf, La Duquesa Golf, Sottogrande, El Roque and Valderrama in one direction, and Estepona Golf, Monte Mayor, El Paraiso and the Marbella courses in the other. A wide choice for enthusiasts of all levels. Numerous deals to be had.
Skiing
Sierra Nevada 2 - 2 1/2 hours away by autoroute. Snowmakers ensure that the Granada resort of Pradallano, is open from December to May.This is the highest resort in Europe, with 22 lifts and 70 pistes. Accessible as a day trip.
Travel
Malaga airport is approx 1 hour's drive, by coast road or autoroute; Gibraltar airport approx 20 minutes. Jerez is about 11/2 hours by new fast road. It is fascinating to drive up into the mountains to explore the Pueblos Blancos (white towns) such as Casares and Gaucin, clinging precariously to the mountainsides. Or else to venture up the winding road to stunning Ronda, straddling the Targo Gorge. Marbella with its exotic shops is about 1/2 hour, Estepona 15 minutes. Car is highly recommended.
Distances
Sabinillas - local town for all daily needs, restaurants, etc: 2 minutes by car. Puerto La Duquesa - marina and old town with lots of restaurants: 5 minutes. Estepona with lovely beaches, squares and old Spanish quarter for tapas bars: 15 mins. Marbella for designer shops, quaint old town with Orange Square, exotic Alameda Park with amazing Dali bronzes : 30 mins. Puerto Banus for mingling with the jet set: 25 mins. Gibraltar for duty free shopping, exploring the Rock, apes and tunnels: 25 mins.
Further details
The area is noted for the numerous fiestas and street celebrations, with traditional costumes, fireworks, and authentic fun, joined in by old and young alike. Visitors welcome! Experience the gourmet restaurants of Benahavis, about 30 mins up a stunning valley, or try the Argentinean steakhouses of Estepona and Sabinillas. Excellent selection of fresh fish and meat at the local supermarket; Carrefour is 10 minutes by car for a really wide choice. For families with children there are numerous attractions in the area. Selwo Safari Park is close by and very popular. Gibraltar has the famous apes running free on the rock, and there are fascinating tunnels there used in the war. Puerto de la Duquesa has dolphin watching trips, jet ski hire and water skiing. Sabinillas has a lovely children's playground. A 15 minute drive up into the mountains brings you to Casares town, a must for twitchers. Eagles, peregrine falcons and kestrels soar above you, rising on the thermals above the rocky crags. The town itself is a perfect example of a medieval Andalucian town, virtually untouched by tourism, and built as a defence against the Moors. Casares pueblo is now recognized as a centre of Historical Artistic Excellence, and as such should remain preserved as a memorial to the "real Spain" for generations to come. Of course, Ronda, 1/2 hour further into the mountains, is another fascinating and very famous example of a town whose history has changed as it became occupied by different races who won their place in history there in bloody battles. The only fighting nowadays in in the famous bull ring, with its fascinating museum.
Booking notes
Bookings may be made over the phone or by email, and reservations require a deposit of £100 per week. Balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to your holiday. A damages deposit of £200 is requested, refundable on return of the keys provided no major damage has been incurred. Payment may be made by cheque or b.a.c.s. Payment may also be made in euros into my Spanish bank account at an agreed rate of exchange.

I have been letting holiday homes for many years, beginning with three properties at my UK home over 20 years ago. I have always been fascinated by Spain and long dreamt of having my own home out there, which I could also share with other like minded people. I bought my first property in Spain in 2000.
I love creating a comfortable and welcoming base for visitors to return to each day after enjoying a little slice of something different. There should be a wide choice of things to do, to stimulate the mind or tickle the taste buds. Equally important is the opportunity to find the peace and seclusion of a restful haunt. Enjoy!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Once in Spain, I soon discovered that Estepona and the surrounding area retains much of its authentic character, with visitors mingling with the locals rather than overwhelming them. Tapas bars, restaurants and cafes are full of Spainsh seeking out their regular haunts for something good to eat or drink whilst socialising with friends and family.
There is always something happening on this part of the coast, be it fishing boats coming in, yachts in the marinas, local fiestas and long processions, or the lure of Marbella. I never tire of it.
There is an endless choice of cheap flights to Malaga from all UK airports, and most major European ones. The airport is about an hour away. Gibraltar is now expanding and is under half an hour. Flights are about 2 1/2 hours from the UK. Easy!
Unique benefits of the property
I love the setting for my apartment, on a low rise above the coast, so that the mountains and sea seem to swirl and sweep around me. I love to gaze at the huge circular pool with the Med sparkling beyond. Wow!
It is only a couple of minutes from the small Spanish town of Sabinillas, where I always feel welcome, be it at the fresh fish counter of Mercadona, the bread shop in the square, or the wonderful Argentinean steak restaurant on the beach. The main coast road is only a couple of minutes away, unheard and unseen from my apartment, yet an invaluable link to all that this stretch of Andalucia has to offer.
I have the best of both worlds. Peace and tranquility in the most glorious of settings on the one hand. A main artery into the action on the other. Estupendo!
