This lovely house has all the facilities of a typical villa with the enormous advantage of being located in the centre of this enchanting small town, most villas are located way outside of any towns. Perfect base to explore, if you don't feel comfortable don't hire a car, you're only a short cab ride to Sitges with it's main line train station but buses run direct to Sitges, Vilanova and Barcelona (not worth the stress parking and driving). It's a practical and well-distributed house, rebuilt in the original style of the Spanish town house, behind an old facade. Experience how it is to really live in Spain,St Pere is a real Catalan town with local shops, restaurants and characters. If you want a more touristy town we are just 10 mins from Sitges, where you can find fantastic beaches, boutique shops and fine dining or better still, Vilanova. Back in St Pere you can walk to shops, local supermarkets, bakers, bus stop and typical local restaurants. A large market is held every Friday.

Offers available for long stays and two week bookings. Flights are at their cheapest earlier on in the year, so I'd advise booking flights sooner than later. Low cost airlines start increasing their flight prices very quickly, a small rise can make a big difference.

Further details
Sitges, for those who don’t know it, is a Spanish resort with a difference and a far cry from the noisy typical resorts of the Costas. It has been fashionable since the 1890s, when it became an avant-garde, art world, hang-out attracting writers, painters, intellectuals and artists as a home and inspiration for their work. Nowadays Sitges appeals to everyone from jet setters to young travellers, honeymooners to weekending families, Barcelona night owls to an international gay crowd. It benefits from a micro climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. There are 17 beautiful sandy beaches, there’s a lively nightlife if you like to party and there are lots of groovy boutiques if you need to spruce up your wardrobe as well as an impressive range of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Sitges is also renowned for it’s many Fiestas and firework displays.
Barcelona being just a short commute away from St Pere the monbus runs every 20 mins (trains leave every 10 minutes from Sitges). Sitges is a beautiful fishing village just outside of St Pere. Separated from Barcelona by the mountains of the Garraf, it is traditionally known as the Costa Dorada (golden coast). Now famous for its relaxed and liberal attitudes, it was once the haunt of the Surrealists. Picasso, Dali both had homes here, and the small town became famous for its light and colour. Now the haunt of the rich and famous of Barcelona (it styles it self as the Spanish St Tropez). The beautiful Paseo is the central promenade along the 7 beautiful beaches and through the town. Wide and spacious, and now beautifully restored the Paseo is a popular site. Close to the National Park of the Garraf for mountain biking, mountain climbing and other adventurous pursuits, St Pere is also just 45 minutes from the centre of Barcelona and Roman Tarragona. Universal Studios Port Aventura is 1 hour by car, and the Terramar Hotel offer an 18 hole professional golf course.

Owner profile
Enjoying life in Sitges
About the owner
In 2000 my husband announced he wanted to give up work, sell up and change our lifestyle. He had worked for 20 years in Media and we lived in the Cotswolds, he had always said that he spent all his spare time mowing the lawn. So we sold up and moved with our 2 children aged 8 and 12 to St Pere de Ribes. We were told in a local campsite the year before if we wanted real Spain or Catalonia we should look at St Pere. We drove in past the old casino and over the hill passing the castle and into the square and I knew this was where I wanted to live. Firstly we bought in the hills outside the town where many ex pats live however we soon realised that it is very isolated and we became taxi drivers for our children. We wanted to live in Spain but definitely not in the ex pat community.
Year purchased: 2006
Why the owner chose a home in this location
So 6 years ago we sold our villa and bought my dream house. Calle del Pi is one of the oldest streets in the town and where I always wanted to live. A house with an ordinary facade but people always goes wow when they come in. We are very lucky to have a fantastic garden and pool very rare for town centre houses. Here in St Pere our children walked into the local town, played in the plaza, learnt Spanish by buying ice creams and playing with the local children. We even spent the first years taking our empty water bottles to the local wine shops where they fill them with local red, white or sweet wine for a few euros. You can even go to the vineyard at the top of Calle del Pi. We love to sit in the square in the evening enjoying tapas and a cold beer. We can truly say we have built a life.
Unique benefits of the property
We shop in the local shops, eat locally grown vegetables and eggs and are told about the meat we are eating and most importantly the wine we are drinking. St Pere is a very friendly Spanish market town. The number one advantage this property has is that it is in the centre of town. Many villas offered are spotted in "housing estates" in the hills around the area. However you could be staying anywhere and many have few or no local amenities. You can't live in a view. There is something magical about walking down to the square for your morning cafe con leche and picking up freshly baked bread not the awful pan ingles (English bread) sold in the supermarket. However you can still get English/international newspapers in the village, You do need some home comforts.
