Stunning 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment (en-suites), with 2 double sofa beds in lounge/dining room. Large private terrace overlooking the sea (35sq.m). Two shared pools, pool attendant, padded sun loungers, changing rooms, toilet and shower facilities. Beautiful kitchen and utility room. Prestigious district of Isla de la Llum, with all local shops and amenities (including the Diagonal Mar shopping centre) and just a 15-20 minute stroll to Port Olympic with it's famous seafood restaurants, bars and night clubs. The tram link, crossing the city is a 10 minute walk away near the Forum area. The Metro (local stop-Selva de Mar) is 2 blocks away, taking you into the heart of the city in 10 minutes, local bus across the road, taxis are also plentiful, taking less than 10 minutes to the city centre. The tour bus stops right outside the apartment building in peak season and a block away out of season, and offers open top tours around the city's many famous landmarks on 3 tours.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per night. Cleaning fee is £75 (up to 4 guests- an extra £5 a head over this number). A damages deposit of €200 is required locally at check in, fully refundable at the end of the stay if reasonably maintained, rubbish disposed of and all is left as found. Failure to do so will mean a reduced amount refunded. Discount for lets over 7 days,or last minute bookings. Xmas/N Year, Easter,Grand Prix weekend(20-22 May 2012) £140 per night.
Changeover day
Mid-week breaks, long weekends and longer durations. Check ins after 4pm. Local out of hours check in fee 25 euros after 8pm, and 40 euros after 11pm. Left luggage lockers are available at BCN Sants and Nord stations and the airport .

Notes on accommodation
We welcome families and adult couples over 26 years. A cot and a highchair are available for guests with children at no extra charge(and no cleaning fee for children under 3). As the apartment is in a residential block we are unable to accept bookings from large single sex parties for obvious reasons. The apartment sleeps 4, possibly 6 adults,as it has 2 bedrooms, with the extra sleeping arrangements on two double sofa beds in the lounge. Ideally these extra sleeping facilities are suitable for families with children.
We do expect our guests to respect our neighbours with regards the quiet hours stipulated in our House Rules,and to maintain the apartment to a reasonable standard during the rental period,including disposal of their rubbish during this time and again when they vacate. Failure to do this will regretfully result in compensation for extra cleaning etc which will be taken out of the damages deposit upon check out. Our guests cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Accessibility
The apartment is located on the 2nd floor and is well served with several elevators. Public transport in the locality is fast and efficient into the city centre, and taxis are plentiful and readily available. A taxi rank is only a block away and they pass the building frequently. The local metro station is Selva de Mar, just 2 blocks away, and the number 41 bus stops in the next road to us (Passeig del Taulat), going straight to Placa Catalunya at the top of Las Ramblas in the city centre.
Outside
There are 2 permanent terrace sun loungers (orange ones), but we offer 2 portable green sun loungers and portable chair for use on the beach and pool areas. A pool attendant and permanent sun loungers are available in the summer months . The terrace also has a large dining table with 6 chairs. There are 2 large semi- heated pools and showering and changing facilities,a well equipped gym, short tennis and recreation grounds attached to the property. A secure parking space in the basement is also available upon request. There are several public parks close by and a running/rollerblading/cycling track along the beachfront opposite for the health conscious. Cycle hire is available locally and there is a sports centre 200m along the beachfront.
Coast/Beach
Platja Nova Marbella one of Barcelona's finest beaches, is opposite the apartment and viewed from all rooms- overlooked by our large terrace. The beach is clean, sandy and dotted with bars, all the way up to Port Olympic a 15-20 minutes walk away. There are plentiful shops, bars and restaurants in the locality, with the Diagonal Mar shopping centre two blocks away, opposite the CCIB in the Forum area,where a newly built marina has just opened. There is also a sports centre 200m along the front.
Travel
Situated 35 minutes from Barcelona airport by taxi, by the RENFE overground train it is 32 mins to Passeig de Gracia, then a 5/10 minute taxi ride or Metro ride to Selva de Mar. Trains run every 30 minutes from 6.00 to 22.39. By Aerobus (running every 5 minutes),it is approximately 45 minutes to Plaza Catalunya then take the local bus 41 from there stopping in Passeig del Taulat , the road behind our apartment, or metro to Selva de Mar. Car hire avaiable at the airport or locally and bike hire.
Distances
Port Olympic is a 20 minute walk along the seafront with many bars, restaurants and nightclubs open till the early hours.A 10 minute walk further along is Port Vell, at the foot of the world famous La Rambla (also well worth a visit). It is Barcelona's main marina. Here you may sample the specialist seafood restaurants, whilst looking out on the many yachts and boats moored, there or visit the vast new shopping centre next to the Imax cinema, or check out one of the largest aquariums in Europe.
Further details
The Rambla has the famous Boqueria food market, many tapas bars, street mime artists and stalls, leading up to the beautiful Plaza Catalunya with its fountains and the main tourist office where tickets for the theatre and other attractions may be purchased.Gaudi's unfinished cathedral the Sagrada Familia is a spectacular masterpiece of architecture rising high above the Eixample. This can be seen as far away as Montjuic castle (sited on the hill of Montjuic next to the Olympic stadium), which itself has panoramic views of the city and port.
There are many impressive art galleries and museums all over the city to wander around, one of particular interest is the Museo Picasso, named after Barcelona's famous patron in the Gothic Quarter
Close to the apartment there are two banks and ATM machines, a local bakers and small supermarket for your convenience.
A chemist is directly opposite.
Barcelona's main conference centre the CCIB is 3 blocks away, opposite new Diagonal Mar shopping centre.
With regards to eating out, we recommend Els Peixaters de la Mediterranean seafood restaurant, if you want to try some local Catalonian dishes (2 blocks along the seafront from the apartment next to the Piano bar. Try their exquisite speciality lobster paella, and their freshly caught grilled sardines.
The Diagonal Mar shopping centre is 5 minutes away and has a vast array of shops-H &M, Mango, Zara, Primark, to name but a few, plus a huge Alcampo supermarket. The square in the centre also has very reasonably priced restaurants and cafes to choose from.The nearest free WiF is at the Red Meeting Point bar on the complex.A file with other useful information, including some on places of interest and local amenities,plus a selection of guide books for our guests' use, is left in the apartment.There is also a selection of DVDs,books and games.There are many local parks, a running/cycling/rollerblading track, local Sport Centre along the beachfront, and cycle hire available.
Booking notes
We'll reply by email within 24 hours to confirm your reservation (min 3 nights) and request an advance payment of £150 paid by internet bank transfer. A booking will be confirmed by email when received. The balance is to be paid 10 weeks before the start of your holiday. This amount will include the £75 cleaning fee (up to standard 4 persons- £5 per person extra). A damages deposit of 200 euros cash is to be paid locally at check in, and will be fully refunded at check out if all left as found.

We had a wonderful time.The apartment is very well appointed (and situated), it suited us perfectly- a really great family holiday.Have recommended to friends and family and would love to come again sometime to see the city at a different time of year.The pool and gym were brilliant, as was the direct access to the promenade all the way to Port Vell. Really enjoyed the atmosphere of the city. Went on several excursions by foot,metro and bus- decided to save more for another visit (!) and hang out on the beach some of the time too-beach and sea great, really clean & great facilities, not too crowded either and no Brits! About the owner
We live in Surrey where Bob is a joint director of his own company, with his sister Diane-a family business started 50 years ago by their late father. I work part-time and manage the rentals of our apartment. We have 3 daughters aged 23, 21 and 16 and a 4 year old black labrador Archie.
Having talked about buying a place in Spain as a holiday home and investment for our retirement, we visited Barcelona 5 years ago and fell in love with the city and it's friendly people. When we were looking, we were bowled over by the position of the apartment and nothing else we saw came close. The view from our terrace of the sea sold it to us.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We visited in August 2006 and fell in love with the laid back lifestyle and the health conscious outlook of the Catalonians. Having enjoyed the wonderful "buzz" of the city and it's amazing culture-from the stunning art galleries to the seafood and tapas bars, we wanted to find somewhere where we could relax from the hustle and bustle whilst still being able to access it easily -in other words-to have the best of all worlds. We found this fabulous apartment overlooking the sea, but so close to Port Olympic, we could walk to it within minutes.
The centre of the city being only 10 minutes away on the metro, means that all the sites are within easy reach but the apartment is a safe haven.
Unique benefits of the property
The apartment is close to the CCIB (business conference centre) near the Forum area of Barcelona and the new Diagonal Mar Shopping Centre. It has all the amenities you could possibly need, from chemists, ATM's/banks, to tapas bars cafes and restaurants. The open top Tourist Bus stops across the road from the apartment and we are a short stroll from the seafood restaurants and nightlife of Port Olympic, and Port Vell (at the foot of Las Ramblas). We have a doorman (portero) in this safe and prestigious newly designed area-only 3 blocks from the Hilton and Princess hotels, with a secure underground car park. We have 2 pools, a gym, recreation grounds, a games room and short tennis courts. There are many parks, a sports hall 200m along the beach and bike and car hire locally. We have it all.
