Notes on accommodation
Suitable for children and the elderly.
The owners also have other accommodation available for larger groups (sleeps up to 15) with private swimming pool and mountainside only 10 minutes on foot from the apartment - please ask.

Accessibility
This is a brand new building with two lifts and is totally adapted to wheelchair users and the elderly with mobility problems.

Outside
There are 3 large sunny terraces with wonderful views of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east, south and north. Outdoor furniture is provided.

Coast/Beach
Granada has always been known in Spain for the possibility of skiing in the morning and sunbathing in the afternoon and since the stunning new highway connecting Granada and Motril opened in 2009 this has taken on a whole new meaning. With the ski resort a 30 minute drive from the village and beach resorts such as Salobreña and Playa Granada only 45 minutes, this really is an option on a sunny January day.

Golf
Santa Clara golf course only 15 minutes driving distance.

Skiing
Sierra Nevada ski station is only 30 minutes away via the separate Monachil road. There is no need to return to Granada to pick up the main ski resort road thus avoiding much of the Granada city traffic.

Special interest holidays
Monachil has a wealth of outdoor activities on offer, from mountain biking, rock climbing and hang gliding to flamenco lessons and donkey rides (not the beach variety!) almost anything can be organized. The city of Granada is only 10 or 15 minutes away and visits to the Alhambra, Albayzin and flamenco caves of Sacromonte are a must.

Travel
Granada airport is a 20 minutes drive and Malaga airport 90 minutes. Car hire is recommended for those who wish to explore further afield. However, the apartment is within 5 minutes easy walking distance from the bus stop where you can catch the hourly bus to the city.

Further details
The village has several small and interesting shops and restaurants and of course Granada has an endless list of places to visit. The villa contains a guidebook with information and recomendations on all local shops, restaurants and supermarkets.

Please contact the owner to confirm availability and cost, we usually reply within a few hours maximum. Once availability has been confirmed and the deposit payment of 25% made full travel directions plus a detailed villa information pack is sent via email.

Guest comments
The apartment was absolutely perfect – just what we had hoped for to celebrate Christmas. Laura was right there to meet us, and between her English and our gesticulations, we understood each other perfectly. The apartment had everything we needed, and we really appreciated the little Christmas tree in the corner, as well as the books and maps (and the olive oil, salt, etc – it’s so nice not to have to buy that stuff that you’ll use only a little of). We loved Granada, and I think our youngest will be writing her own version of “Tales of the Alhambra” very soon. All of your directions were very clear (found the supermercando, etc,) and we really had just a wonderful time.

I'm happy to report we had a great week in Monachil.4 days skiing,1 day in the city and 2 days at the beach.Weather was fab and ski conditions were near perfect.The apartment really served us well and with a large family we found it v clean,spacious,comfortable and v well equipped.

About the owner
I initially moved to Spain in September of 1996 with the intention of immersing myself in the language and culture. After spending a year studying and managing to get my Spanish up to a reasonable level I was offered a job with a small multinational IT company and consequently moved to Barcelona, where I lived for the next five years. I then returned to Granada where I currently live with my wife Sari and our two small boys Nico and Kian.
