The grounds are well maintained by the management company and the property has an outdoor terrace with shade and sun. There is a shaded gated parking space. The large communal pool has a sizeable sunbathing area, a small child's pool, (both unheated).

Changeover day
Flexible, times of departure/arrival flexible within reason. Key pick up and drop off is handled by a local company, this is a 24 hour service by virtue of a key box. The company also offer a 24 hour emergency helpline.

Notes on accommodation
There is one shaded parking space behind gates adjacent to the front door. Other and visitor parking is located by the main gate to the community (50 metres away). Each floor has its own air-conditioning controls.
Accessibility
No special access facilities, bedrooms are all upstairs, so if this is a problem unfortunately this property will not be for you, sorry.
Outside
There is a small unfenced (but secluded) grassed garden next to the covered terrace. From here the views to the magnificent Mijas Hills can be enjoyed. There is an outside dining table (6 chairs) and charcoal barbecue. There are two easy chairs.
Coast/Beach
La Cala village, on the coast, is a 10 minute drive (approx 6km), and has beaches, restaurants, supermarkets and many other facilities.
Golf
There are 3 golf courses at La Cala (America, Asia, Europa) all very enjoyable and different. The Asia course runs parallel to the garden of the house. The club house is less than a 5 minute walk away. Special rates for golf are often available direct from La Cala resort.
Santana is a 10 minute drive away and there are numerous courses within 30 minutes drive, many of which offer special arrangements, competitions etc.
Travel
Malaga is about 30 minutes by car, around 30km. Gibraltar is around 1 hour 30 minute drive. Car hire is recommended. (Special deal with Yellow Car at Malaga or in La Cala village).
Distances
Marbella, Puerto Banus, Mijas, Fuengirola are all within 30 minutes drive and boast everything one needs in terms of eating, shopping, watersports, golf and general entertainments.
Further details
La Cala hotel has restaurant facilities and a Spa and two tennis courts. There is a good local restaurant (Jinete) approx 2km from the house. The golf club house is less than 5 minutes away and serves food and drinks all day. Local shops are in the village (car needed). Horse riding is often run nearby from the local restaurant mentioned above.
Booking notes
Deposit of 20% to secure the booking, with the final 80% to be paid a minimum of one month beforehand. No refunds, sorry.

About the owner
We are a family of 5 who like to holiday, to relax, to eat and drink, to take in some golf and swimming, and have some fun.
Our UK home is in Warnham, near Horsham, so travel to Malaga via Gatwick is easy.
My wife, youngest daughter and myself are currently living and working in Oman, so we cannot go to La Cala as often as in recent years. Up to now we have only let the property to family and friends, but have decided to more widely market it from October 2009.
We hope our visitors will enjoy it (and look after it for us).

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We took possession of the new townhouse in July 2001 after signing contracts the year before, following two great holidays at La Cala. Being in the hills, away from the coast, makes the location quieter, and the group of 34 properties is secluded and private. The community is rarely crowded, but there is always life around, a good balance for us.
We have been there each summer since, with friends often renting another property in the community. We have also been at New Year, Easter, and for many extended weekends.
A holiday here can be as busy or relaxed as you like, plenty to do within 30 minutes drive, golf within a very short walk (realistically this is the best position at La Cala for that). There are also plenty of food and drink places for a lifetime within a short drive.
