Finca Alboran is built in traditional Andalucian style and nestles amongst olives, almonds and carobs on 4 acres of private ground. Just 1km from the village of Gaucin, its sheltered location combines peace and privacy with stunning views to the distant mountains of North Africa. The house is wonderfully spacious, yet intimate in feel. At its heart is a large living/dining room and well equipped open-plan kitchen which lead to a lovely vine-shaded terrace with barbecue and sunbathing areas. Gaucin is a typical, unspoilt white village, with many food shops, a chemist, banks, bars and several restaurants. Overlooking the village are the ruins of a Moorish castle giving incomparable views over to the Mediterranean coast, North Africa and Gibraltar. Inland you see the state-owned cork forests which are a nature reserve. The village has a public tennis courts, a couple of riding schools are also found in the vicinity. Throughout the year Gaucin has many fascinating fiestas.

Changeover day
changeover day is Friday, flexible in low season, arrival 3-4pm. departure 10-11am. The maid arrives at 10am.

Notes on accommodation
Next to the main house is a charming, small, stone built hideaway (perfect for a quiet siesta or extra guests) and the beautiful large pool which is cleverly terraced to provide both natural shade and full sun all day long. Bright and sunny in the summer with central heating and a wood burning stove for winter, it is an ideal base for all year round holidays in the country, as well as a perfect winter hideaway for anyone who needs real peace and quiet. Central heating, electricity and water are provided. WiFi internet access, Telephone (international calls to be paid separately). Cot and high chair are included. Babysitting can be arranged. Finca Alboran is accredited by the Andalucian tourist board: "Vivienda Turística de Alojamiento Rural" VTAR/MA/00620
Outside
Large pool (5m x 12m) depth 1.1m/2.5m with underwater lighting (a great feature for kids of all ages). Poolside terrace with plenty of deckchairs, hammock and a lower terrace with table tennis and a further hammock. Plenty of sunny spots or shaded areas, barbecue, alfresco dining on the shaded terrace by the main house. The land surrounding the property is an adventure playground. The Wifi hotspot is 100 metres from the main house under a olive tree. This area is a gateway to many amazing walks. Bird-watchers will find plenty to see too.
Coast/Beach
Beaches are a 30 minute drive.
A few kilometres down the Valley is the river Genal, a good spot for fishing, swimming and exploring. The Mediterranean beaches are half an hours drive away, while Tarifa on the Atlantic coast with its fine white sand and famous wind surfing is one and a half hours drive.
Golf
The nearest golf course is a 30 minute drive.

We're able to organise the following activities (a free service, prices for the activities/pick-up service on request): Guided walks, Guided rides and/or riding lessons. Babysitting. Catering. Massage Aromatherapy, bird-watching.
Painting lessons taught by local artists. Pick-up/drop off service from the airport, trips to Tangiers.
Travel
Malaga airport is 90 mins, Gibraltar airport is 1 hour and Jerez airport 2hrs. Car hire is recommended and can be arranged.
We also let our beautiful apartment in the historical part of Jerez. You may want to consider a combined holiday. Jerez is a great place to enjoy flamenco, visits to the Sherry bodegas, the horses and cultural trips to Seville, Puerto Santa Maria and Cadiz.

Gaucin is a spectacular, unspoilt white village with many food shops, a chemist, bank, bars, several acclaimed restaurants both Spanish and English run, and 2 tennis courts. Overlooking the village are the ruins of a wonderful Moorish castle which gives incomparable views towards the Mediterranean coast, North Africa and Gibraltar.
It is an ideal base for day trips to places like Ronda, Jerez, Cadiz, Seville and the Atlantic Coast. This part of Andalucia is a paradise for walking, exploring, riding and birdwatching. The tennis courts in Gaucin are free and available on a first come first served basis.

30% deposit on booking this property, the balance payment is due 6 weeks prior to departure. A security deposit may apply. The balance payment can be paid either by bank transfer into our Spanish account or via PayPal which will add a 3.5% commission charge.

About the owner
We came to Gaucin in 1982 in search of "Arcadia". We're still here as we have not found anywhere better, more beautiful and scenic. We still feel that we have all we need here in Gaucin. It has become such a cosmopolitain place!
Why the owner chose a home in this location
The finca is lovely, peaceful and secluded yet near to the village. Gaucin is the finest of the white villages we have come across our travels in Andalucia.
Unique benefits of the property
Space, peace, freedom of the outdoors with the birds, fauna and wildlife that changes all year around. The pool is fantastic with its size and depth. So much more to list, you have to see if for yourselves.
Some visitors go nowhere during their stay whilst others explore daily. Walking is another great past-time of ours.
