Special interest holidays

Gaucin is one of Andalusia’s classic hilltop “pueblo blanco” (white village), surrounded by the beautiful wilderness of the Alcornocales national park on the edge of the Serrania de Ronda. The centre of the village is a tangle of narrow, twisting streets & was once a haven for brandy & tobacco smugglers who once travelled through the surrounding hills so horse riding is of a special interest.
For further information please contact the owner & we can assist you to organise you perfect holiday whether it be walking, horse riding or bird watching.

Guest comments
"If only we could have bottled the feeling we had when we arrived & saw not only that the house appeared even better than we hoped, but was immaculately presented. The welcoming bottle of wine etc was much appreciated & fresh cut flowers was a lovely touch. As we settled in effortlessly, it became obvious just how much care & attention you put into the renovation. It seemed clear the consequence of every decision was considered carefully. The selection & nature of the fittings & decorations creates a sympathetic & welcoming environment, but other maybe less obvious details were also appreciated: use of glass for the terrace balcony for instance; the lighting design; even the termination of the curtain poles! Very rare is it that I don't find myself thinking "why on earth didn't they..." when staying away from home, this was one such rare occasion when my inner anorak remained silent.....Our principle of never returning to a place already visited may sorely be tested!" About the owner
Over five years we have renovated this property to a very high spec using original features & modern materials to include central heating & a private pool. Having lived & worked in Spain we try to escape regularly to the wonderful climate the area has to offer, we love it here & are sure you will too.
Year purchased: 2004
Why the owner chose a home in this location
The house is in the heart of Gaucin village which is truly one of the most beautiful "Pueblos Blancos" in Andalucia. Gaucin lies 600 meters up in the "Serrania de Ronda" mountains & when we first visited here we were immediately struck by the wonderful clear light, the vivid colours, the smell of the orange blossom & stunning views.
The accessibility to the village is a big advantage too as Gaucin can be reached easily from 5 regional airports!
In all this magical place enthralled & captured us enough to spend 5 years renovating this spectacular property. It has been hard work but at the same time a pleasure & a privilege.
Unique benefits of the property
Within a 30 min drive you can lie on the Mediterranean beaches, the Atlantic beaches in an hour, go skiing, visit Gibraltar or Portugal, go to Granada and the Alhambra Palace. At Easter you might see bulls running down the street below the house as Gaucin is the only other place in Spain, other than Pamplona, where they have running of the bulls albeit smaller ones than Pamplona!Gaucin is surrounded by the stunning scenery of the 'Parque de Los Alcornacales' and the area is highly recommended for those interested in bird watching, walking or mountain biking. Alternatively you can just relax by the pool & take in the stunning views with a good glass of wine & a plate of jamon serrano! Buen provecho! (Bon apetite!)
