Winding along the road between Restábal and Pinos del Valle, with its picturesque views, you will find the track to Casa Viñas de Vera, a country house nestling in the hillside. The property is surrounded by its own olive and citrus trees with stunning views across the valley. The house has been lovingly rebuilt from an old ruin and still retains some of the original features. That said, the property is light and spacious, with an open plan living area downstairs, a large, spiral staircase leading up to two of the four bedrooms and a huge roof terrace for enjoying a sun-downer or two while taking in those amazing views. The house is comfortably and tastefully furnished and has everything required for a relaxing and enjoyable stay all year round. With plenty of outdoor terraces, sun loungers and large swimming pool you will hardly need to leave the property, however the area is ideal for walkers, cyclists and sightseers. The beaches, Granada and the Alhambra are all within 30 mins.

Notes on accommodation
Underfloor heating to all rooms. Internet access is now available at the house. NB. Due to the nature of the property it is not really suitable for small children. We do not wish to discourage people from coming to enjoy the house but you do so at your own risk. Cots and high chairs can be provided on request.

Accessibility
The open plan arrangement of the house is ideal for people with mobility problems and there are 2 downstairs bedrooms and a downstairs, walk in shower room, however the change of levels around the property may prove difficult. There is a slope up from the parking area to the house but it is quite steep for negotiating with a wheelchair.

Outside
Large, private swimming pool (10 x 5m) with terracing around it and sun loungers. Large roof terrace with table and chairs. Terrace off living room with square table and 8 chairs. Separate terrace with table and 4 chairs. Small BBQ provided, however this is not to be used during the summer months due to high fire risk in the countryside.

Coast/Beach
Costa Tropical beaches are an easy 20-30 min drive away, Salobrena being the most easily accessible. Further along to the west are La Herradura, Almunecar and about 45 mins away is Nerja. In the other direction are beaches all the way to Cabo de Gata and Almeria.

Golf
Under 30 minutes away either at Santa Clara, Granada or at Motril, on the coast.

Skiing
Sierra Nevada ski resort, Sol y Nieve, is approx 45 minutes away with full range of pistes for all abilities. Long ski season from Nov-Apr.

Travel
Malaga is approximately 1.5 hours drive, getting shorter all the time with the building of the new coastal motorway.
Granada Airport is only 30 mins' drive although at the moment there are no flights from the UK.

Distances
Nearest village, Restabal, approx 1km. Nearest town, Durcal, approx 10mins. Granada 20 mins. Alpujarras 30-40 mins. Sol y Nieve, Sierra Nevada Ski 45-50mins. Coast 20 mins.

Booking notes
Our house is managed by our agents in Spain who organise payments, laundry, cleaning, key collection etc. They can also arrange tours, tickets for the Alhambra, horse riding and bike hire and they are a mine of information on the local area. Please note that they do charge a fee for late arrivals and Sundays for key collection.

About the owner
I live in England with my husband and two teenage children. My husband and I run our own company here but spend as much time as possible out in Spain where we have fallen in love with our village and its inhabitants. We have some great friends out there and can't wait for a time when we can up sticks and live there permanently.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We discovered the Lecrin Valley almost by accident when we went on a fact-finding mission in 2003. We had decided we wanted to live 1/2 way between Granada and the coast as it would give us the best of both worlds - beautiful mountain views, easy access to beaches and the cultural city of Granada, plus there was the bonus of being only 45 minutes from the Sierra Nevada for skiing in the winter. The valley is off the beaten track and still quite undiscovered. It is the chance to see Spain as it has been for hundreds of years. Many of the locals still set off in the morning on their mules to farm their land and the pace of life is somewhat slower than elsewhere in the country. The natural beauty and the open, friendly people have won our hearts and keep us coming back for more.

Unique benefits of the property
We have rebuilt the house from an old ruin and have included everything we feel is necessary for a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The house is just 1km from the village so it is peaceful and remote but within easy access of all the local amenities. Restabal is home to Bar Jovi and Meson Despensa, considered by most to be the best restaurant in the valley but if you prefer to eat in there are two good shops in the village plus we can give details of caterers who will deliver dinner to your door! The stunning views are central to the appeal of our house and the large pool is fantastic for cooling off in summer. The house generates its own power, however the system is set up to cope with the normal use of a large family and is therefore often more reliable than the mains!
