This luxury corner apartment is furnished to a high standard. The lounge has a very large sofa part of which converts into a double bed. The dining area has an extending table seating 6. There is internet access. The large covered L-shaped balcony has a stylish table with 6 chairs an electric BBQ and 4 sunbeds which can be taken to the swimming pools. There is 24hr security. The 18 hole par 72 golf course opened in June 2008 and is one of the longest/best golf courses designed by the Nicklaus team. Full driving range, putting green and pro shop. All guests have the advantage of reduced green fees and a courtesy bus for all the Polaris World Resorts. Enjoy the Nicklaus golf trail which includes La Torre & El Valle. Nearby Mar Menor with stunning beaches, offers warm temperatures most of the year due to the shallow water ideal for children. Sucina is 5 minutes away for local shopping bars and restaurants. The ancient cities of Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca are worth a visit.

Notes on accommodation
There are manual remote controls for the air-conditioning in the lounge/dining room and both the bedrooms. The telephone is for on-site calls.There have been young children staying in the apartment. The balcony has suitable railings. There is a camping cot provided. The resort caters well for children with children's pools next to the swimming pools and plenty of play areas. There is English food available - an English restaurant in Sucina.
Accessibility
The resort and apartment are suitable for infirm and certain disabilities as there is underground parking with lift access to the first floor. There are no steps in the apartment but there is a step over to the balcony which may need assistance.
Wheel chair access could be possible to the balcony with assistance. The bathroom may be tight for a wheelchair.
Outside
The corner apartment has a large L shaped covered balcony which has a stylish table with 6 chairs, 4 sunbeds and a table with electric BBQ. Sun for part of the day. The resort has wide open spaces, 24 hour security, numerous swimming pools with children's pools also Jacuzzis, tennis courts, outdoor gym, car hire, bike hire, restaurant, bar/cafe, supermarket, internet cafe, full driving range, putting green, pro shop and children's playgrounds and walks.
Coast/Beach
The nearby Mar Menor is 15/20 minutes drive away. It offers warm temperatures most of the year due to the shallow water, ideal for children; whilst the sandy beaches are amongst the most stunning in Spain. Santiago de la Ribera is the most local beach with long promenades, bars restaurants and water sports. There are many other beautiful sandy beaches on the Mar Menor.
Golf
The apartment is situated in the middle of Hacienda Riquelme golf course overlooking the 16th green and 17th tee. The 18 hole par 72 with a distance of 6,356 metres off the white tee opened in June 2008 and is one of the longest/best golf courses designed by the Jack Nicklaus team. All guests have the advantage of reduced green fees and a courtesy bus for the other Polaris resorts which are approximately 15 minutes drive away. Enjoy the Nicklaus golf trail which also includes La Torre and El Valle. Two more golf courses will be available once completed - Conado de Alhama and Las Terrazas de la Torre.
Adjacent to Hacienda Riquelme is Pareljagolf where there are no concessions as it is not part of Polaris World. Hacienda Riquelme has a driving range with bunkers, putting green, pro shop and a bar with food.
Travel
The nearest airport is Murcia/San Javier 18km- 15/20 minute drive. Alicante is 50 minutes drive away. EasyJet, Monarch, BMI and Ryan Air fly to Murcia or Alicante. Car hire is essential.
Distances
Sucina, a typically Spanish village, is located 5 minutes drive away. Local shopping, supermarkets, hardware, banks, bars and restaurants. Santiago de la Ribera is 15 minutes drive away having all the large shops and supermarkets, banks, bars and restaurants. The capital city of the region, Murcia is 20 minutes drive away. Cartagena an ancient port of many cultures is 40 minutes away.
Lorca and ancient frontier town is 45 minutes away.
Further details
Sports available include golf, tennis, water sports, horse riding, fishing. Great for walking holidays, rural/countryside retreats, beach or lakeside relaxation, a winter sun break, cycling holidays. Sucina being only a 5 minute drive away is very convenient for eating out as it has some good tapas/wine bars, English and Indian restaurants. In the area there is a Chinese chain of restaurants called Wok Buffet which is very good value for money! It is good to explore as there is a lot of choice for restaurants in the whole area. Murcia is a 20 minute car drive through the mountains. It was once a port for both the Phoenicians and the Romans before becoming a Byzantine province. In 831 Mursiya was built, a walled and strategic citadel to the banks of the Segura river. To-day this is a city with its cathedral and interesting shops to be enjoyed. Cartegena a port of different cultures with over 2,500 years of history. It was a Roman town, a port occupied by the Phoenicians, the Byzantines and Carthaginians. To-day the city provides a wide range of services, shops and restaurants. A port city overlooking the Mediterranean sea, it conserves a significant Navy presence, as seen in its castles and coastal defences dating from the XIX century. Lorca still has the air of the medieval and the baroque, in its castles, its palaces & noble houses. A frontier town with many monuments often referred to as the city of the hundred heralds. Today Lorca is also a lively city. This city is one of the most important historic centres of Eastern Spain.

The golf course is superb and is a good test of golf and will be a good location for top quality tournaments. We had a lovely relaxing holiday in a beautiful apartment with every thing one could need. About the owner
Ken and Melanie Holland are retired with 4 children, 6 grand children and one on the way. They have a handsome black Labrador/Alsation and 2 pretty cats. Much time is spent with the grandchildren aged from 6 years to 3 months who are full of fun and great to be with.
They live in a 17th century thatched cottage in a pretty Warwickshire village near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Ken is a Morris man playing the melodian for the dancers. He also plays in the folk club. Melanie used to dance but now goes to folk club and some festivals with Ken.
They have a Canadian Canoe and belong to a local canoe club.
They enjoy entertaining, walking, cycling, caravanning and visiting their apartment in Spain where Ken plays golf on one of the best Polaris World Golf Courses.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
When we visited Spain to consider purchasing an apartment we fell in love with the area where Hacienda Riquelme Golf Course was going to be developed. The old Hacienda building which was going to be retained & developed as part of the resort centre.
All that we could see was the mountains behind & the fields leading up to the Hacienda. This was away from the condensed building which can be seen in Spain but still only 20 minutes drive from the airport & the Mar Menor beaches promenades, bars & restaurants; 15 minutes drive from Murcia; 5 minutes drive from Sucina, the local village, with shops, restaurants & bars where the Sangria is great.
The Resort itself promised wide open spaces, lakes, gardens. views of the mountains, many swimming pools plus all the facilities one would expect.
Unique benefits of the property
The obvious benefit when staying in the apartment is the wonderful weather. That coupled with sitting on the balcony, which is very large L shaped, with a lake in main view with beautiful bull rushes and the sound of the wild life, the back drop of the mountains - such a tranquil setting. This view has the added interest of the golfing activity with the 16th green and 17th tee in full view.
The new light and airy apartment has everything one could wish for easy living. We especially like sitting on the balcony cooking on the grill for supper supping wine.
There are 2 swimming pools very close to the apartment - 1 minute walk. There is a childrens pool & a Jaccuzzi We decided not to overlook the pool with all the obvious noise.
The Resort shop, Sucina & the Mar Menor are so close.
