"El Nido" (The Nest) is a private detached villa in Los Pinos, Almunecar. The Villa has stunning panoramic views of the sea and the mountains. The Villa is very quiet and yet just minutes away from a year round bustling town. The villa is split into various levels as it is on the side of the headland hill known as "Los Pinos". All the levels are connected by outside stairs. The top floor of the house has two generous double bedrooms, one en-suite, a family shower room, the kitchen and the sitting/dining room. There are also two terraces. The main one is spacious and has a dining table for 6. The other one is in front of the main bedroom and quite private from the rest of the house. The bottom floor can be an independent 1or 2 bedroom apartment, bath/shower room,sitting/dining/kitchen and a large terrace in front. The owners use the house as their own. The house, terraces, pool and gardens are lovingly looked after.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds and Euros.
Please ask for prices for renting only the upper floor or the lower floor of the Villa.
The Owner's car is available for guests' use. The only cost to be covered is the insurance. There will be a €150 car deposit refunded when the car is returned to the airport unscathed. The car is a Subaru Outback.
There is a refundable deposit of €300 payable prior to arrival.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday although I will normally be able to offer some flexibility on this. Arrival is normally after 4pm and departure is before 10am. Again, I may be able to offer some flexibility. Please ask.

Bedrooms: Upstairs the main bedroom has a king size bed or two single beds. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed or 2 single beds. Downstairs, the main bedroom has a king size bed or 2 singles. There is also a double sofa bed in the sitting room for occasional use.
Bathrooms: Upstairs: En-suite shower room to main bedroom and a further family shower room just opposite bedroom 2. Downstair the bathroom has a bath, a separate shower, a WC, basin with under cabinet and a bidet.
Kitchen: The upstairs kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances (oven, electric hob, dishwasher, microwave,washing machine, kettle, etc) and kitchen utensils.The downstairs kitchen is also fully equipped but it's smaller and it does not have an oven.
Utility Room: Available to the apartment there is an array of garden furniture, pool loungers, dining tables and chairs etc.
Living Rooms: The upstairs living room is open plan with a dining table and a comfortable sofa. The sitting room opens to the terrace and the panoramic views. There is a flat screen TV and a DVD player. The downstairs sitting room is open plan with the kitchen/dining.
Other: All the bedrooms and bathrooms are strategically situated to provide maximum privacy from each other. This house is perfect for a large family or sharing families, friends sharing or a couple seeking a private luxury spot all to themselves.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Bed linen is included with a weekly change. Towels can be arranged, please ask. The terraces and pool will be cleaned and maintained on a weekly basis. The villa is self-catering. End of stay cleaning charged at £70/€90. A daily cleaner can be arranged.

Notes on accommodation
Two of the bedrooms have air-conditioning, as well as the sitting room upstairs. Special conditions apply for its use. A cot can be used for a small extra charge. Please contact me with your requirements. The house is terraced and on a hill and therefore suitable for very small children (babies) and for children over the age of 8. Although it must be noted that there are high drops from one terrace to another and so children must be attended at all times. Children of all ages have stayed in the house and there have never been any problems but parents are made aware that there are stairs and terraces and so the children must not be left unattended at any time. WIFI available.

Accessibility
This house is not suitable for wheelchairs or anyone who has difficulties with stairs.

Outside
The Villa is surrounded by its own garden which is mainly laid to terraces and potted plants. There are palm trees in the pool area which provide the perfect shade in the summer. All the terraces have tables and chairs. There are loungers available to use around the pool. The swimming pool has proper steps which make it very easy to get in and out of. There is a shower by the pool which must be used before and after using the pool. The filtration system of the pool is almost chemical free.

Coast/Beach
Almunecar has many beaches. The closest beach to the house is 900 meters away (only 300 meters as the crow flies!) and you could either walk to it or drive to it. There are some naturist beaches near Almunecar but you will need to drive to them as they are somewhat hidden away. The water is crystal clear throughout the year and most people consider sea swimming season to run from April/May until late September/October. There is scuba diving, paragliding, surfing, etc available at various points.

Golf
There are many golf courses around the area.
The closest golf course is half and hour's drive.

Skiing
Sierra Nevada is 1 hour's drive from the house.

Travel
Renting a car is advised although Almunecar can easily be reached by public transport from Malaga. There are buses every hour from Malaga to Almuecar in the summer and every 2 hours in the winter. The Malaga and the Granada Airports are both 1 hour (easy drive all on a dual carriage way) away from the house. Almeria's Airport is 1 and a half hour away on a good National road but it is not dual carriage way all the way.

Distances
Almunecar Town centre is about a kilometer from the house. There are many white villages near Almunecar and there are also the Alpujarras which are as near as 35km from the house. The mountains above Almunecar (easy to access by car) offer unlimited walking/hiking/mountain biking. There are picturesque rivers (one can swim in them) in breathtaking countryside.

Further details
Almunecar has 4 major supermarkets and countless good restaurants, tapas bars, wine bars and a couple of night clubs. For the children there is an Aqua Park (Aqua Tropic) just 1.5 kilometers away from the house.
La Herradura beach has a scuba dive centre, a windsurfing school and hire centre, kite surfing, etc. "La Marina del Este", the local sports marina offers a yatch chartering service and there is also a speed boat hire centre in "Velilla" just minutes away from the house.

Guest comments
All my guests have been very happy with their stays. Most have commented on the house being even better than expected.
Families have commented on the fact that the house is perfect for kids and I should not warn parents about it being dangerous for children. I prefer to be on the safe side!

About the owner
We, Ana and Russell, live in Oxford and we bought our house in Almunecar in 2003. We are both into many different things which can often be contradictory, i.e. we love the beach and the mountains/rivers, we love the sun and the snow (skiing), we love peace and tranquility and hustle and bustle, plenty of exercise and relaxing times.....Finding a holiday place in Europe that could provide us with all these things nearby was not easy. We looked in may countries and places. Ana is originally from Spain and wanted to buy a house in some other country, but when we got to Almunecar, we knew we had found the right place! Our house and its location just gets better and better every time we go. We are both surprised by this as we thought we would get bored of going back to the same place.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose Almunecar because of many reasons. Here are a few: - It is a busy town all year around - It is very easy to get to from a variety of airports, i.e. Malaga, Granada and Almeria. There are many daily available flights and the road infrastructure is fantastic - The beaches in and around Almunecar are amongst the cleanest and most beautiful in Europe - Almunecar is surrounded by beautiful countryside and mountain ranges,i.e. Sierra Nevada, the Almpujarras, etc - Almunecar has plenty of everything, specially good restaurants serving both, traditional and world cuisine - Almunecar has the right proportion of Spanish and foreign population (mainly permanent residents) - In the winter, it is one of the warmest places in Europe and in the summer, it never gets too hot (max.35C)

Unique benefits of the property
Our house is in the best part of town. It is very, very quiet but very near the town centre (1Km). It is in the residential area of "Los Pinos" and has far reaching views of the sea and mountains. As it is on the South East facing part of the "los Pinos" headland, it does not get any road or town noise. Our private pool is just the right size for a swim and a game if we don't feel like going to the sea. It is very private and it has easy access steps. We spend a the house a week every month as we can work from home and Ana's parents live in the neighbouring house almost on a permanent basis.This means that the house is permanently looked after and any problems that may happen can be dealt with as soon as they happen. We also have a good team of people we can rely on when needed.
