Casa Colmenar, dating from the 18th century, is situated at the edge of a small Spanish village nestling in the mountains, its south facing position and thick walls designed to keep it cool even in the hottest weather. This well appointed, spacious family home is beautifully furnished in traditional Castilian style and comfortably sleeps six in three double bedrooms. The interesting terraced garden with its many sunny and shady seating areas for relaxing or entertaining has wonderful views of the surrounding mountains with their groves of lemons and almonds as does the house and pool. La Llosa de Camacho is a small village of 200 inhabitants famous for its almonds, lemons and honey. There is a small Wednesday street market, a weekly fish van, a daily bread van and further shopping can be done in the nearby towns of Pedreguer, Alcalali and Jalon, all within five or ten minutes drive. The area is well known for its walks, its cycling and is rural Spain at its best.

The villas is in a perfect setting, so private and with beautiful mountain views. The villa has excellent facitilies and is clean and very well maintained. The agent was very friendly, helpful and available if we needed ant infirmation or assistance. We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Colmenar. Jeff July 2011
Casa Colmenar was very well presented, and one of the best villas we have rented in Spain. It was clean, tidy and had everything we required - home from home. We would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. Nick June 2011

Celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary
About the owner
We were married the weekend of the Woodstock Festival, in the year that man first walked on the moon, the Beatles performed their last gig on the roof of the Apple building, Harold Wilson was Prime Minister and a gallon of petrol cost the equivalent of 31 pence! It was 1969. Our first visit to Spain in 1992 was to visit James' aunt but the sea, sun and mountains worked their magic and we kept coming back. Having both grown up abroad it was always likely that we would eventually move somewhere other than England and when we retired Spain seemed the natural choice. Letting our home for the summer is our treat as we pack up our VW Camper and head off to explore Europe for six weeks with the dog and no worries.
Year purchased: 2004
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We’d always planned to have a house overlooking the sea but fell in love with the mountains and in the end bought an old farmhouse on the edge of a small village facing a beautiful mountain. The site of the house was well chosen by the original builders, some 200 years ago, facing south to catch the sun but sheltered from the winds with uninterrupted views of the mountains and built of stone with one metre thick walls to keep cool inside. We lived in a small East Sussex village before moving to Spain and this influenced our decision when we found La Llosa de Camacho, it’s a place where families of all ages and nationalities live all the year round so there is real sense of community. Although most of the residents are Spanish we have been made very welcome and feel at home.
