Dear Thelma, a belated thank you for having us stay in your lovely apartment. We had a wonderful time - though it now seems like a distant dream having been back to work for two weeks. Loved the lush green countryside. Swam in the sea. And did a little bit of touring around Galicia. We did climb up to
the iron age village. Spectacular. Also made full use of the DVD card! I'm afraid I nudged one of the pictures and the hook came loose. It didn't fall, I managed to catch it and left it propped against the wall. Otherwise we left everything intact! I hope we'll be able to return in future. All best wishes, Chris and Johnny.
Thelma, thanks for a lovely fortnight. You were right people here are so friendly and helpful. The fiestas were amazing with all the drums and fireworks. It was wonderful to be able to sit and star gaze outside and wake to see the fishing boats coming back to port with our lunch! Your son was very helpful.
House swap
This is a possibility in August depending on the destination
Owner profile
About the owner
I am the headmistress of a Drama school in Ourense, a small city in the inland mountain area of Galicia. I have lived in here for 23 years and my family has always spent the summer in La Guardia to escape the heat of the mountains inland. My husband was half Portuguese and half Spanish and we loved being so close to both countries. My children loved the swimming, canoeing, hill walks and wild horses in this area whilst I love the wine and fresh seafood and especially the friendly, easy going nature of the villagers here. I always feel very safe and at home in this area.
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I bought this property 3 years ago having been on the lookout for a long time. I wanted a new flat in the old town with a a large terrace with sea views, something almost impossible to find. The problem here is that the old flats are quite dark and have small balconies and I wanted a modern bathroom and kitchen but I love the old fishing village where planning and conservation laws make new properties almost impossible to find. When I saw this flat it was just being built in the old church square in the best part of the village and when I saw the views i didn't think twice. Luckily as it was still being built I could make changes and improvements to the design. Being in the church square we are at the cultural centre of the village and yet we are only 200 yds away from the marine walk way.
