Gorgeous unique space. Two double bedrooms, balconies & private roof terrace. Super comfy bedding, towels & robes. WIFI internet connection. This special little house has grown lots of character over the last 130 years. Guests are welcome to relax & enjoy this little refuge & intimate location in the traditional heart of Barceloneta, the city’s original fishing quarter on the marina in Barcelona’s old town centre. The house is a lovely classic building spread over 4 floors including a light & airy terrace full of plants on top of the house. Chill, sunbathe & drink cocktails by Mediterranean sea on the popular city centre beach just moments away. The neighbourhood has a friendly + traditional atmosphere - with a wild side if you want to find it! The old town of Barcelona is famous for it's classic Gothic church, maze of narrow winding streets & the many workshops, studios & bars mixing contemporary & traditional design & craft. Get off the beaten track & experience the real Barcelona :)

Notes on accommodation
The house is being lovingly restored and redesigned by its owner using creative, social, local and environmental ideas and practice. Colours – especially Mediterranean blue and white – have been used throughout the house to create a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. The house is tall and narrow - each floor is 16 square metres, inter-connected by stairs. Enjoy staying in one of the few houses in Barcelona - that extra bit of independence, compared with being in a flat or apartment. Your contribution to the house will help make this restoration and design project grow. The working idea at the moment is a “creative refuge”, which in the future will connect with mind-body resources to offer short courses and deep relax breaks. Tourism in Barcelona is very intense & has some negative impacts on the city. Staying in this house gives you a chance to bypass the commercial tourist industry & be in a community space. Equally, it's important to respect the neighbourhood (eg noise & photos).

Accessibility
There are three flights of stairs in the house so maybe it's not great for people with mobility issues. Having said that you enter the house on the ground floor directly from the street and there is a bedroom on the first floor so it more convenient than flats above the first floor with no lift.

Roof terrace garden. A lovely space to relax, doze in the hammock, listen to the birds, romance your partner, read the many books in the house, eat meals cooked with fresh produce from the local market or even take a shower! Two balconies (off each bedroom).
Coast/Beach
3 minutes to Mediterranean sea and the popular Barcelona city beach - the Barceloneta.
Travel
Barcelona (Prat) - quick train journey from airport to Francia station (much better than airport bus). Bus from Girona airport stops at Nord Station which is a short taxi/bus journey away or even a nice walk of about 10 mins via the Arc de Triomf and Parc de la Ciutadella.

You are located in Barcelona city centre. It's close to everything whilst escaping the mad crowds.

Everything about this house & its owner made our stay in Barcelona magical. The warmth & insider knowledge of the friendly owner of this wonderful traditional Catalan home was invaluable & breakfast on the roof terrace with pastries from the local bakery is a must. Can't wait to come back with friends!
Great location & has everything you need.
Barceloneta definitely won us over. The house is well located v close to the beach & just round the corner from a fine range of tiny local shops, hidden supermarkets, cafes, restaurants. To get to the house from Barcelona airport is also v easy - just get the train & even with rolling luggage its an easy walk from Francia station.
It was fantastic to be in such a well-equipped house. That's the advantage of staying in a house which is also someone's home: kitchen had everything we needed & there was lots of useful information to help us enjoy Barcelona. We highly recommend.
