This light, spacious first floor apartment is situated in La Cala Hills; a beautiful residential resort within landscaped gardens, with two shared swimming pools, gated entry and underground parking. Located a short drive from the coastal town of La Cala, close to many exclusive golf courses, yet only 25 mins from Malaga Airport. The spacious living area opens to a large terrace overlooking the peaceful gardens and swimming and toddler pools. A master bedroom with en-suite leads onto the terrace. There are two twin bedrooms, a family bathroom, fully equipped contemporary kitchen and utility area. Children are fully welcomed and a cot, highchair and small selection of children's toys are provided. La Cala is an authentic Spanish seaside town within the Mijas region of Andalucia; renowned for its ancient and beautiful hill-towns of Ronda, Antequera and Mijas Pueblo. Marbella and Puerto Banus are close by to the west. The apartment offers air-conditioning/heating, Sky TV and Broadband.

Rental start and end dates are negotiable. Please telephone us to confirm your requirements. Guests may arrive no earlier than 3pm and must vacate the property by 10am of the day of departure to allow for cleaning unless agreed otherwise.

Kitchen: Contemporary stainless steel and oak with granite counter tops. Kitchen leads to utility room. Appliances include electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker. A varied range of cooking and kitchen utensils.
Utility Room: Equipment includes washing machine, clothes airer, iron and ironing board, beach parasols, beach toys and cool boxes, highchair.
Living Rooms: Spacious open plan lounge/dining area opening to large terrace for outside dining. Includes a dining table and chairs to seat six. Large 'L' shaped comfortable sofa. Coffee table. Wide screen TV, Satellite TV, DVD player, music system.
Other: Large outside terrace with access to and from master bedroom and lounge, receives late afternoon sun. Overlooks the tropical gardens and swimming pools. Outdoor dining table and chairs to seat 6. Outdoor candles provided. Outside lights.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All linen and towels included. Please bring own beach/pool towels. For weekly stays the apartment is cleaned at the beginning and end of stay. For two weekly stays or more additional cleaning and linen changes can be negotiated at an extra charge.

 

Notes on accommodation
The apartment has air conditioning and heating. The apartment is very well set up for children and babies. We understand that travelling with children can be stressful so we help make things easier by providing: a travel cot, bed guard, highchair, change mat, baby food blender, bibs, microwave, plastic utensils, plates and bowls, a small selection of children's toys, books and DVDs and beach toys (buckets, spades, balls etc). There is also a lift to the first floor which is helpful with buggies and small children. The tropical gardens are gated and secure, perfect for letting children play. There is a large toddler pool for splashing and fun (children should always be supervised around water). The pools and gardens are overlooked by the apartment.

Accessibility
This is a first floor apartment with a lift from the underground garage to all floors. The lift stops just outside of the apartment front door. There is also a ramp from the main entrance up to interior entrance at ground floor, useful for both wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Outside
The lounge area opens to a large terrace enjoying sun in the late afternoons. There is a large dining table and chairs for outside dining seating 6. This terrace overlooks the La Cala Hills private tropical gardens and the two pools. A front terrace has views over the Mijas mountains. The pools are shared by other residents. They are large and clean. The smaller pool is shallow for children and toddlers. There are sunloungers and parasols available. Changing rooms, toilet and showers are at the poolside. There are a couple of places to eat and drink on the complex. The closest spot is ‘Someplace Else’, a cafe bar serving an English menu, breakfast, light lunches and snacks. Lots of useful golf and local advice can be got here. It makes a convenient lunch stop when lazing by the pool for the day. There is also a pub/bar on site; 'The Phoenix Lounge' which serves tapas from 1pm. An Indian restaurant is soon to be opened on the complex.

Coast/Beach
The long sandy blue flag beach, Las Dorados, is the closest beach to the apartment in the small coastal town of La Cala (Mijas Costa), a 10 minute drive away. It has a non-commercial feel. Variety of rustic beach bars ‘chiringuitos’ line the beach. 15 mins drive towards Marbella will take you to Puerto Cabopino. This small harbour and marina has a lovely sheltered beach, Playa de Artola, where the water is calm and ideal for families. There are good facilities with sunbeds and parasols to hire.

Golf
The Costa Del Sol area is a golfer's paradise with many excellent courses to choose from. Within the direct vicinity, a few minutes drive can be found the very popular courses of 'Mijas Golf' and 'Alhaurin Golf'. Within an easy distance of our apartment you will also find 'La Cala Golf'. This is the biggest golf complex in Spain and incorporates three of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol. The 'Marbella Club' was designed by Dave Thomas and measuring 6,247 metres in length the Marbella Golf Club consists of carefully contoured fairways, beautiful water cascades, lakes and strategically placed bunkers as well as perfectly conditioned undulating greens. 'Santana Golf and Country Club' is situated between La Cala de Mijas and Fuengirola and has breathtaking views of the Mijas mountains, close to the Mediterranean sea. 'Cabopino Golf Marbella' was inaugurated in April 2001. It has 18 holes with a par of 71. It is a very scenic course with views to the Mijas mountains and sea.

Skiing
Just a mere 2 hour easy and beautiful drive away from Mijas is the most southern ski resort in Europe, the Sierra Nevada National Park boasting mainland Spain’s highest mountains at 3200 metres. The season runs from late November to May.

Travel
Malaga Airport is a 25 minute drive away (28km). Car hire is recommended for your stay as the mountain areas of Mijas are well worth exploring. There are bus links between the coastal resorts but they are not that extensive. A train service from the airport runs as far as Fuengirola.

Distances
La Cala de Mijas the nearest coastal town is 10 minutes drive.
Fuengirola with its shopping, nightlife and watersports is 15 minutes drive. Mijas Pueblo one of the most beautiful of the traditional white villages is a 20 minute picturesque drive through the mountain pine groves and olive plantations. Puerto Cabopino marina and beach is 15 minutes west towards Marbella. Historic Ronda - birthplace of the bullfight is 1 hrs drive away. Antequera has great churches and architecture -1 hr drive.

Further details
There is an excellent supermarket just 2 mins walk away. It has a bakery and sells great fresh bread, cakes etc as well as fresh milk, fruit, veg and UK newspapers. In La Cala town you will find two bigger supermarkets, a post office, health centre (the new Costa del Sol Hospital is no more than 15 minutes towards Marbella), banks, chemists and a tourist information point in the Watch Tower Museum overlooking the sea. The closest spot to eat is on the La Cala Hills complex itself. ‘Someplace Else’ is a cafe bar serving an English menu. An Indian restaurant is soon to be opened on the complex. La Cala town has many good restaurants. Restaurant prices are very low in this part of Spain when compared with the cities of Northern Europe but the standard is very high. As you would expect there is some fantastic seafood to be eaten in the town and a surprising variety of restaurants and bars are to be found both on the seafront and tucked away in the narrow streets behind the beach. Nestled amongst the mountains directly above the Mijas coast is the traditional white village of Mijas Pueblo. This lovely village displays a typical Andalusian charm; immaculate whitewashed buildings, hilly cobbled streets, beautiful churches and wrought iron balconies with flower pots of cascading red geraniums. Don't miss the unique square shape bullring at the Plaza del Torros, the Donkey Taxis ‘Burro Taxi’, Mijas Sanctuary of Virgen de la Pena and Major Church and Gardens of the Wall. Sports and activities in the Mijas coastal region include : watersports at Fuengirola beach, mini-cruises and dolphin spotting from Marbella Port and Puerto Banus, horse riding, horse racing at the Hipodromo Costa del Sol, just outside La Cala. For children: Selwo Safari Park - Estepona, Fuengirola Zoo, Sea-Life centre - Benalmedena, Crocodile Park at Torremolinos Wolf Sanctuary -Antequera, Donkey Sanctuary - Malaga, Water Parks – AquaLand at Torremolinos and Parque Acuatico, Tivoli World Amusement Park.

Rental start and end dates are negotiable, we will try to work with you on your preferred travel dates. Please contact us by telephone to discuss your requirements and to confirm availability. A £100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to hold required rental dates. The balance for full payment is payable 6 weeks prior to departure. A damage and key loss deposit of £100/130 euro is also required by our keyholder in Spain on arrival, who will meet you at the apartment.

'...The weather was absolutely beautiful...the appartment is superb- kids loved the pool and didn't want to go anywhere , they enjoyed the Garden and pool so much - we even went for " nightswims"...the appartment is better fitted out than our own house and most of all we enjoyed being lazy and not having to go anywhere ...
