Villa in Calpe, Costa Blanca, Spain
About the area
The main resort of Calpe can be reached in five minutes by car, where there are two main beaches Which both carry a blue flag. The beaches boast long flat walks flanked by bars and restaurants and are separated by a bustling marina with the restaurants there specializing in fresh fish and seafood.
Golf Courses can be found in nearby Benissa (Golf Ifach), Javea and Altea and several more further afield.
Special Interest Holidays
Cycling and mountaineering are renowned in the Costa Blanca with a coastline offering all levels of difficulty and ability.
How to get there
The villa is an easy 1hour drive north from Alicante airport or 1.5hour drive south from Valencia. Both airports are well served by both budget and regular airlines. Car hire offices are located at both airports and booking can be easily make from the UK with payment on arrival. There are also car hire offices in the town. Taxis are available from both airports and in the town. There is a train station in Calpe and buses run from Alicante airport with links to Calpe. Car hire is recommended.
Nearby is picturesque Moraira, a chic town with great shops, harbour side restaurants, a marina, lovely ice cream parlors, as well as the charm of a Spanish fishing village.
Boat trips are a lovely way to visit Javea and Denia along the coast.
Benidorm, with it's theme parks of Aqualandia, Mundomar Terra Natura and Terra Mitica is just a 25 minute drive along the coast. A short drive inland will let you escape to the real Spain and some very quaint villages.
The Penon de Ifach (Calpe Rock), one of the main landmarks of the Costa Blanca, separates the two large beaches of Calpe. It is 332m high and 1km set into the sea. It is possible to climb the rock and (we are told!) The views from the summit are breathtaking. The port of Calpe is to the side of the Rock. From here you can take boat trips along the coast, watch the fishing boats return with their catch and try any one of many fish restaurants. The Old Town of Calpe is a maze of narrow streets, Harboring museums, churches, bars and, even more, restaurants. Calpe has its own website calpe.es and there are several Tourist Information Offices in and around the town.

About the Owner
The Owners. Susan and David Chapman have been married since 1972 and work together every day in the Insurance Brokers, where David has been a partner for almost thirty years. We have three grown children and two grandchildren (who love Calpe even more than we do - if that is possible!). We bought the villa in 2003 and have done all we could afford to make the house the home we love and will continue to do more whenever possible. We are happy to help with any questions or advice and will be pleased to hear from you anytime.

Why this location?
The Area. Calpe is big, but intimate, friendly, and has a homely feel about it and, we think our house - Sol y Sombra - has the same feel about it. Welcoming. We came to Calpe to visit friends who already had a house there. We felt so at home and, immediately realised why they had chosen the area. It took us no time to find any means of getting our own home there.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
The villa is perfect for two families or the 2/3 generation family, having two separate accommodations, each with a large living/dining area, fitted kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Everyone can get together to enjoy what either apartment has to offer, or have your own space, as you choose. However, it seems that often just a couple alone, or a small family like to have the whole house to themselves and enjoy it all. Occupying its own large plot, with gates to the front and the rear of the property and no passing traffic, makes it perfect for those seeking privacy and peace.
