Get away from it all in this spacious country home with its unforgettable sea and mountain views which can be enjoyed day or night from the dining or pool terraces or the infinity pool. Carefully restored to retain original features but with full comfort and all mod cons, the house is set on the edge of the tumbledown rural hamlet El Albarico ('rich sunrise'). Enjoy all the advantages of a rustic location but with convenient access to the beach in Mojacar (30-40 mins) and the traditional white Andalucian village of Bedar (15 mins) with its amenities including bars, restaurants and shops. With 360 views of the surrounding countryside and incredible sunrises and sunsets, this property inspires relaxation. And yet there is excellent mobile phone reception for when you do need to check in with the rest of the world.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday, but we can be flexible depending on the time of year. We ask that guests vacate the property by 10am on changeover day. Check-in time is anytime from 4pm.

Kitchen: Well-equipped kitchen with high-end cooking equipment, tableware and utensils, a gas cooker, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, as well as a large farmhouse dining table with chairs and a bench. The dining table easily seats eight people.
Utility Room: Washing machine, large fridge/freezer, ironing board, iron. Outside washing line. Cleaning products.
Living Rooms: Sitting room with three couches comfortably seats 8, plus a kids' beanbag. UK freeview TV, DVD and VHS players and guest book and DVD library. Bose SoundDock for iPods. Double doors out to pool and terrace. A woodburning stove is warm and cozy in winter.
Other: House has central heating and a woodburning stove for winter guests.

Comfortable bed linen and plenty of towels are provided, as well as large pool towels. The villa is cleaned on changeover. Additional cleaning during your stay can be arranged for an additional fee. Tea, coffee, herbs, local olive oil provided.

Notes on accommodation
This is a beautiful rural mountain location with a windy mountain road up to the house. The road is tarmac apart from the last short section but a normal car has no trouble getting up to it.
The stairs are open which should be considered if booking with young children. There is a stairgate fitted at the top. Two travel cots are available and a wooden high chair for small children.
While this property can sleep 10, we prefer to rent to smaller groups as we believe they will have more enjoyment from the house and the different spaces created in the house. This is an ideal house for family groups, people who like to enjoy local produce, cook and relax. And the pool is so inviting!

Accessibility
We regret that this property is not suitable for wheelchair users. There is a downstairs bedroom but it does have some steps leading to it. The downstairs ensuite bathroom has a shower over the bath, not a walk-in shower. Please contact us to discuss your mobility needs and we will do what we can to accommodate your needs.

Beautiful, uncrowded and unspoilt beaches of Mojacar and the Cabo de Gata National Park within short driving distance (30-45 minutes).

Lots of golf within 30 mins of the property, including Valle del Este (with its Spa) and Desert Springs.

Skiing
Skiing is a 2-hour drive to Granada at the resort of Pradallano/Solynieve.

Special interest holidays
Through the Bedar Arts Centre, we can arrange mosaic, ceramics and painting classes. Other art courses may be arranged. Please contact us for more details.

Travel
The house is 15 minutes from the nearest town (Bedar) so car hire or use of a car is essential. Flights can be booked to Almeria Airport (one hour), Murcia San Javier (two hours), Alicante (two and a half hours).

Distances
The typical sugar cube Moorish 'pueblo blanco' (white village) of Mojacar with its winding streets and panoramic views and Mojacar beach (30 mins). Cabo de Gato National Park - beaches, birdwatching and walking (50 mins). Aqua park (30 mins). Mini Hollywood (now Oasys) where famous Westerns and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed (40 mins). The historic city of Granada and its world heritage site, the Alhambra Palace is a 2 hour drive through the Sierra Nevada. Almeria for shopping (1 hour).

Further details
This property set on top of a hill has stunning sea and mountain views and is a peaceful haven, popular with walkers, mountain bikers and nature lovers. It caters to those who like to relax by the pool, curl up with a book or whip up a storm in the kitchen but also those who prefer to engage in more active pursuits. There are many walks and bike trails in the area. On a good day, you might spot a Spanish ibex or wild boar. The goat herd passes near the village and while some English-speaking people have made their homes in the area, there are many more Spanish villagers living a traditional Andalusian life with their animals, crops and olive and lemon trees. The ruined houses in the village and photos in the local bars give us an idea of what life was like before when this was a mining area, with many more inhabitants than there are today.

Booking notes
We ask for a 25% deposit to secure the booking and the remaining payment six weeks before the start of the rental. Rates are for renting the villa for 7 nights, for up to 10 people. Animals and smoking are not permitted.
