Casa Limon a recently converted cottage adjoining our own Cortijo (with own private entrance + terrace) situated in a delightful rural setting with beautiful views over surrounding olive clad hills, with the tiny village of La Parrilla lying in the valley below. Nearby is the historic town of Iznajar with ancient Moorish castle high on a rocky outcrop overlooking its breathtaking 32km lake known as The Lake of Andalucia surrounded by hills and mountains. The charming town of Antequera with many buildings of architectural interest and the nearby stunning El Torcal parque natural lie approx. 30/40 mins away. For those interested in outdoor leisure pursuits, the Lake offers excellent fishing, birdwatching and watersports such as swimming, sailing, canoeing & pedaloes from its beach in the summer whilst this is the perfect walking & mountain biking country. Ideally situated for exploring the Andalucian cities of Granada, Cordoba & Seville. 18 hole Golf course 30 mins.

Changeover day
Saturday preferred but flexible. Please ask.
Normally we ask guests to arrive after 2.30pm to allow for cleaning and to leave by 10.30am on the day of departure.

Bathrooms: Fully tiled bathroom. Bath with shower, wc, wash hand basin, window. Heated towel rail for cooler seasons. Extractor fan.
Kitchen: Fitted kitchen area (to one need of Living room) moroccan style units, equipped with microwave, 4 ring gas hob, fridge with freezer section, toaster, kettle and all necessary utensils, crockery and equipment.
Living Rooms: Living room with kitchen area to one end. Sofa, chairs, table, Sky satellite TV (free to air channels), DVD stereo CD/radio, dining table & chairs, front door to patio, spiral staircase to first floor. Outside steps also lead to first floor & terrace.
Other: 1 lower patio with gas barbecue table with parasol & directors chairs. Upper patio with table and chairs sheltered from the direct sun All exterior furniture is made from bamboo.

Notes on accommodation
Highchair and cot available upon request (subject to small charge). Central heating is supplied via radiators and for cool periods, mobile elecric heaters for winter lets if needed to boost central heating. Electric blankets are also included. Casa Limon has Ceiling fans in both bedrooms.
Although Casa Limon adjoins our Cortijo it enjoys a good deal of privacy with its own private entrance and terraces.
Rental is inclusive of gas and electricity and an essentials welcome pack is provided on arrival. We also offer Sunday Brunch served on the Cortijo patio or inside the Cortijo should the weather not permit al fresco dining. Please advise when booking should you wish to partake of brunch, we also cater for guests in the Spanish style.

Accessibility
There are just two small steps up from ground level to the ground floor of the apartment. As well as a spiral staircase to the first floor there is an exterior set of steps to the top terrace and first floor entrance. Parking is very close by.

Outside
Casa Limon has access from the first floor to a private sun terraces where you can sunbathe or enjoy the shade under the olive trees in the owners olive grove. Table, chairs, sun loungers and sun parasols included. There is also an enclosed terrace to the front again supplied with chairs, table and parasol as well as a gas BBQ. A short distance away from the property is the 8x4m swimming pool with Roman steps to one end & tiled terrace set in the olive grove from where lovely open views can be enjoyed. The pool is normally available April-October inclusive or longer subject to weather. Pool terrace lighting for evening swims. Sun loungers, chairs, tables, large bamboo pergola for shade and parasols supplied.

Coast/Beach
At Lake Iznajar (approx. 15/20 mins) there is a large beach where you can swim, sail, canoe or windsurf from in the summer months. Pedaloes also for hire. Beachside cafe/restaurant.
The Costa del Sol lies approx 1 hour away offering a huge choice of beaches if required. Here there are many coastal/coastal attractions ideal for children such as Water parks at Velez-Malaga, Mijas, Torremolinos, Selwo marina/dolphinarium and Safari park, Tivoli theme park with rides, Fuengirola Zoo,Crocodile Park

Golf
An impressive 18 hole par 72 Golf course at Antequera set amidst superb scenery. Situated at about 650 metres above sea level and with 10 lakes there are spectacular views of the mountains of El Torcal and over the Antequera plains. The course lies approx. 35 mins away whilst there is a large choice of courses along the Costa del Sol within one to one and a half hours drive.

Skiing
We are approx. 1 and 1/2 hours away from the Sierra Nevada mountain range and ski resort, situated close to Granada.
The resort enjoys a longer than average season and offers excellent skiing for all different levels of ability. You could even ski in the morning and lie by the pool in the afternoon! Dedicated snowboarding area. Husky dog sleigh rides & snowbikes for hire. Ski eqipment hire.

Special interest holidays
Bird guiding half days or full days around the lake and surrounding area can be arranged with a local experienced birder subject to notice. Guided walking tours arranged in and around the local area subject to notice.
The tour to visit the Vultures in their natuaral habitat is well worth the visit. We now offer catering at the main house and Sunday Brunch is now available.
Roger is a certified whisky taster and runs a quality whisky masterclass.
Dinner dance locally can be arranged and are very enjoyable.
There are also off road quad bike tours available with trips from 1 hour to a full day, prices are based on your requirement, please note that you will need a full driving licence in order to participate.
For the culture vultures amongst you the cities of Cordoba and Granada are about 1 hour away, please note that a visit to Alhambra will require pre-booking during the peak season and in particular the main religous festivals. Easter here need sto be experienced to be believed.

Malaga airport approx 1 hr, Granada airport 45 mins, Cordoba 1hr, Seville 1hr 45 mins, Granada 1hr, Antequera 30 mins and Iznajar 15-20 mins.

Distances
The local village of La Parrilla is just an easy 5 minute walk whilst the small town of Villanueva de Algaidas can be reached in approx 10/15 mins by car.
The town of Iznajar is approx.15/20 minutes.
Well situated for easy motorway access to Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Malaga.
The charming town of Antequera is approx. 30kms with interesting attractive Baroque architecture, many impressive churches, Moorish castle with gardens above town, ancient bull ring & excellent shopping facilities.

Set in the heart of rural unspoilt Spain close to the borders of Malaga, Cordoba and Granada Provinces, Casa Limon is the ideal retreat for those wanting a get away from it all holiday whilst being perfectly situated for easy touring access of all the main cultural centres of the region.
La Parrilla village has a typical Andalucian bar (serves tapas), play area with swings/slides, hardcourt for football/tennis, olive mill & ancient chapel.
Visit Villanueva de Algaidas with its restaurants, tapas bars and shops including small supermarkets.
Iznajar with its fascinating winding narrow streets, Moorish castle & church offers many little bars, restaurants & dozens of small shops. The property is situated within an unspoilt typically rural location which produces some of Spain's finest olive oil & you may experience some agricultural noise from time to time. The olive harvesting period runs from approx December to March.

Walking: There are many local walks of varying degrees of difficulty, with tracks and trails around the nearby lake with stunning views & for more serious walkers the GR7 (Gran Recorrido) footpath which crosses Andalucia passes very close by & into Cordoba province through the beautiful & dramatic Sierras Subetica Parque natural.
The El Torcal- Parque natural with remarkable limestone rock formations, abundant flora & fauna, walking trails & incredible views towards the Mediterranean lies south of Antequera. Approx 50 mins.
Fuente de Piedra with huge lagoon & nature reserve is famous for hundreds of flamingo and at least 30 species of aquatic birds -approx 40 mins.
Washington Irving Route: Follow the route taken by the 19th century traveller/writer from Seville & the Alhambra, Granada described in 'The Tales of the Alhambra'.
See Montefrio & Alhama de Granada with their Moorish castles in stunning locations. For children, Science Park at Granada, Donkey Sanctuary at Fuente de Piedre, Wolf Park near Antequera,lake beach and local horse riding.

August 2007 We came hoping for a week of relaxation to get away from it all and we were thrilled to have found La Casita A lovely apartment with fantastic views We did the Whisky tasting for fun, (as we really didn't like it, but guess what, we are now converted) highly recommended, as are the meals cooked by Roger & Elizabeth, traditional Spanish but with fantastic presentation and lots of taste. We do thank you both for helping us have a fantastic holiday.
