Beautiful and well equipped semi-detached villa in an enchanting setting. Nice south/south-west terrace under an old cork-tree for meals, and for full-moon amateurs. Four house levels + lower garden levels, large pool (11 x 5m), barbecue, WI-FI internet access, satellite TV, CD and DVD players. Tamariu is a charming small fishing port without high rise apartments nor complexes with a small sandy "croissant" bay and promenade containing excellent Spanish bars and restaurants. Palafrugell with its daily market and supermarkets is 6km from the villa. Gerona (and its airport) lies at 1 hour drive (Barcelona-French border autopista), Barcelona at 125km. The region offers a large range of activities all year round: sports, culture, history, gastronomy, shopping and relaxation. The climate is very nice all year round. The (nearest) excellent tennis club with 19 courts is at 3km. There are 3-4 golf courses within a 30 min. drive, and 7-8 golf courses all together within one hour drive.

Prices are for the property per week in euros. Long winter lets (minimum 3 weeks) can be discussed for a special price. Weekly extra-cost for possible heating.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday in the high season, there is flexibility in other seasons. One should leave the villa at 10 am, and it can be entered at 4 pm. You will be met on arrival to show you how everything works. Welcome package to be discussed.

En-suite shower with wc for the bedroom 1.
Bathroom with bath & shower over, two wash-bowls, wc to share between bedroom 2 and 3.

Kitchen: Cooker, hob, fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee-maker, toaster, mixer, water-boiler.

All linen (also beach towels) is provided and changed weekly. Light cleaning at the villa on Saturdays (as the final cleaning, too). Extra change of linen and cleaning at extra cost. Changeover day is Saturday.

Notes on accommodation
There are lots of stairs in the house, so it depends on children's abilities and their curiosity whether it is safe for them. The pool is not surrounded by fences, but there are iron gates preventing small children's access to the pool area. For people with difficulties in walking up and down stairs, the villa is not ideal.

Outside
In the entrance there is a beautiful old olive tree. Stairs go down from the street to the main entrance and terrace under the cork-tree. Stunning views to the sea. There is a wooden dining-table and chairs for 8 people. Barbecue. On a lower level, large private pool (11 x 5m). On this level there are 5 wooden sunbeds with cushions, 3 plastic ones. The garden and the pool are serviced. An automatic watering system for the lawn. The garden lights are on a timer.

Coast/Beach
Tamariu beach is 1,5km from the villa, and so is the Aiguablava beach. As the villa is on a hill, it depends whether people are willing to walk. There are several beautiful beaches nearby, but definitely by car. Pals (there is also a nudist section), Llafranch, Calella etc. You can rent a boat or a kayak in Tamariu, there is also a scuba diving club here as well as in Llafranch.

Golf
There are eight golf-courses nearby, three of them at approx 20km from the villa. We usually give their web-sites upon request. Golf is played year round. You also have the possibility to purchase a half-board package corresponding to your needs.

Skiing
Vallter 2000 is the nearest ski resort at roughly 1 h 40 mins drive.

Travel
Nearest airport is in Girona (Ryanair), one-hour-drive. Barcelona airport is within a two-hour-drive (140km). It is necessary to rent a car.

Distances
Tamariu 1,5 km; Palafrugell and Begur 6km; La Bisbal d'Emporda (pottery town) and Palamos (fishing port) approx. 20km; El Far (lighthouse) de San Sebastian with fantastic views, 4 km; Playa de Aro - good shopping - 30km; Girona with its historical quarters, 50km; Figueras with Dali Museum, 70km; Salvador Dali House-Museum in Port Lligat and the his House Museum Gala Castle also nearby. Roca Village, a huge outlet, one hour drive.

Further details
Botanical Gardens of Cap Roig uphill from Calella de Palafrugell with panoramic views and high-quality music festival in July-August. Several enchanting medieval stone villages inland (30km). In summer the nearest supermarket is at 1,5km, otherwise several ones at 6km, in Palafrugell, a small town with about 23.000 inhabitants.

Bookings can be arranged directly by telephone or email. A 20% non-returnable deposit is required to confirm the booking. Full payment to be made no less than 6 weeks before arrival. Please note that cancellation dead-line is three weeks prior to arrival. A 300 euros per week security deposit required at arrival; it will be returned on the day of departure or within 4 weeks of departure if the villa is left in a satisfactory condition.

About the owner
Born in Finland, I left the country with my Catalan husband and two daughters for Lausanne, Switzerland, where we lived for 18 years. As a widow I moved to Barcelona in 2001, and bought the villa in 2003. I thoroughly enjoyed making important transformations and improvements to it, and love spending time there with family and friends. Sharing good things is one of life's greatest pleasures!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We totally fell in love with Tamariu back in 1978 when we found it by accident, and have been spending all our summer holidays there ever since. And never have had the feeling of 'now we have seen all it has to offer'. It was therefore a godsend to find this wonderful villa for sale in the hills over Tamariu. Tamariu is one of several idyllic villages that grace the coastline, and is called the 'Pearl of the Costa Brava'. The region, with its fantastic climate, offers everything one could hope for year-round from history to cultural events, fine dining, golf, swimming, hiking, and so on.

Unique benefits of the property
There is a pervasive good feeling – or good waves – about the property. The villa seems to have been built according to Feng Shui recommendations: the back of the house (North) is protected by a rocky mountain, and the front (South) faces the Mediterranean. The villa boasts a beautiful terrace with expansive views of the sea and is an ideal setting for a picture-perfect sunset dinner. Gorgeous! Barcelona is less than two hours' drive away, and interesting smaller cities like Gerona and Figueras - home of the Dali museum - are even closer. We provide beach towels, hair dryers, etc. so you can travel light. Upon request we can also do some 'arrival shopping' for you, and general guidance as well as cooking can be arranged.
