Extensive ground floor furnished terrace - perfect for sunbathing, eating or simply children playing! Private parking for two cars with secure electronic gate. Two upstairs furnished terraces overlooking pool and sea. Plentiful sun and natural shade with refreshing gentle breeze making it a pleasure to sunbathe! The property is perfectly located near to numerous picturesque beaches: Aiguablava, Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Llafranc, Calella (providing some of the best diving in Spain) and near to the medieval villages of Pals and Peratallada. Three excellent 18 hole golf courses nearby: Golf Emporda, Golf Playa de Pals, Golf Serres de Pals.

Changeover day
Normally we rent from Saturday to Saturday but can be flexible.
Notes on accommodation
All apartments has gas central heating if needed in colder months. Owners have very young children therefore have secured all accesses to terraces and pool. Gates to the road are lockable and there is a remote controlled driveway gate. Terraces and a separate BBQ area perfect for relaxed outdoor enjoyment.
Accessibility
Ground floor apartments (A and B) are suitable for people with mobility restrictions as there are no level changes.
Outside
Casa McGurk is built on the side of a hill in a scenic naturally wooded low density area. It has very attractive views in a tranquil setting. There is a south facing private pool (7m x 4m) with attached baby pool surrounded by wooden decking. The pool is serviced twice weekly and the pool area is equipped with sun loungers. Barbecue and utensils are supplied on a terrace situated below pool level. All terraces have patio furniture.
Coast/Beach
There are countless coves and beaches within 7 minutes drive. Sa Riera is the nearest beach to Casa McGurk which has been recently refurbished and landscaped and offers numerous beach-side restaurants and tapas bars. Other attractive beaches are Calella, Llafranc and Aiguablava (last year voted one of the top beaches in the world by the Sunday Times). Snorkeling and scuba diving are popular at these beaches.
Golf
Within 8 minutes drive there are three excellent 18 hole golf courses: Golf Emporda, Golf Playa de Pals and Golf Serres de Pals. There are several pitch and putts around Pals and a driving range at Gualta (less than 10 minutes drive away).
Skiing
Skiing is available at La Molina which is approx 2.5 hours from Begur.
It is also possible to travel to Andorra for skiing.
Travel
There are several budget airlines that fly to Costa Brava such as Aer Lingus, Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2.com and BMI Baby. Girona (45 minutes), Barcelona (90 minutes) and Perpignan (90 minutes). Car hire is recommended.
Distances
Casa McGurk is 1.5km from the centre of Begur, 40km from Girona and 120km from Barcelona. Aquadiver (an excellent water park) is only 20 minutes away in Platja d'aro. The roman ruins of Empuries is 30 minutes drive away. Figueres, Cadaques and Castel de Pubol form the 'Dali triangle' of the homes and museums of Salvador Dali are easy day trips.
Further details
The area is well served by supermarkets selling absolutely everything. In Begur village there are many smaller shops, bakeries, butchers and lovely boutiques whilst the nearby town of Palafrugell offers larger hypermarkets. The Grau winery located 2km from Begur houses a million bottles of wines from local wineries and all over the world! A whole range of activities are available in the Cap de Begur area including mountain biking, trekking, horse riding, go carting and of course water sports including sailing, water skiing, sea kayaking, diving and snorkeling. There are beautiful medieval towns nearby such as Pals and Peratalleda (a moated village with cobbled streets, tapas bars and antique shops). The area has become a popular setting for weddings.
Booking notes
If you are interested in renting, please contact us by e-mail or telephone. 20 % deposit on booking and the full balance paid 8 weeks before the arrival date. A security deposit of £100 is payable with outstanding balance which will be refunded within a week of your departure. No extra charge for a final clean unless the apartment is left in an unreasonable state. Keys held with local managing agent who will also be able to deal with any queries.

These three units are owned by three Irish brothers and their wives. We are all professional people, with young families of our own.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Anthony and Mary had decided to invest in a Spanish property in 2005, as they were planning to retire over the next year. Having spent previous years holidaying in campsites in the Costa Brava region, they decided to begin the search around this area. Our villa came on the market, Colm (an Architect) flew out to view the property, and it was a done deal! We built the pool and decking in 2006, and have spent every spare minute travelling out to Begur since. We all have fallen in love with the village; it's restaurants and boutiques; the weekly markets and traditional Sardana dances in the square; the fabulous beaches and scenery in the Emporda region; authentic genuine Spain, steeped in history and culture. There is huge excitement in our family when we set off for Begur!
Unique benefits of the property
This property has its own pool, newly built in 2006, with surrounding wooden decking. There is a toddler splash pool attached to the big pool. The pool has direct sunlight from morning to night. Importantly, the pool has a gated access for peace of mind if small children are staying. There are beautiful views of the sea, and aspects to Begur castel and the surrounding countryside. The villa is located in a residential area, which is quiet,safe and peaceful. As we have spent a good deal of time in Begur with our families since acquiring the villa, it was important to us that it became home from home. We have made the apartments comfortable, with all the necessary items for an enjoyable holiday. We rented in 2010 and thankfully, we have had very positive reviews from our visitors.
