Our delightful 2 bedroom cottage, called 'Casa Tio Agustin', after one of its' original residents, many years ago, has a super modern kitchen, leading through an archway to a dual aspect dining room, with views across the 'rambla'. The large lounge with open plan staircase, has access to the rear covered patio barbecue area. Upstairs there are 2 large double bedrooms, one with double doors leading on to a terrace with stunning views over the mountains. The modern bathroom is situated between the two bedrooms. Most rooms contain the original beams. Lying on a reclining sunbed on the south facing marble 'beach' by the 10 x 5 metre pool, you will have the most wonderful view of the Sierra Cabrera mountains over the olive and almond groves. Cariatiz is a valley completely surrounded by mountains consisting of four small hamlets and many thousands of olive and almond trees - indeed in January and February the almond blossom is absolutely breathtaking!

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Long winter lets of 1 month minimum available at £495 per month, electricity and water included.
Special rate for July ONLY 2012 is 395 pounds, based on pool being shared with owner's adjoining house.
Special low rate also for October and November as pool shared with owner's adjoining house.

Changeover day
Changeover days are flexible. On same day changeovers we request guests to depart by 10.00 am and arrive after 2.00 pm to allow us time to clean and prepare the property.
We can offer meal with a bottle of wine for late arrivals - please ask for details.

Outside
The terrace area to the rear of the house, casa Tio Agustin, has a stainless steel multi hob gas barbecue and a large pergola for protection against the sun with patio table and chairs. To the side of the house is the sun deck. At the front of the house the stone path leads you to the terrace with shower and on to the gorgeous 10x5 swimming pool with it's pure white beach and rustic straw sun shade and reclining sun beds. Secure private parking through double gates.
Coast/Beach
The local beaches of Mojacar are about twenty five minutes by car and do not get very crowded, even in the Summer. There are chiringuitos (beach bars) along the beaches and a big selection of bars and restaurants along the front.
Golf
Valle del Este, Desert Springs and Cortijo Grande Golf Courses are located approximately twenty minutes away by car.
Travel
Almeria Airport is situated to the south and is about 45 minutes from Cariatiz, whilst Murcia (San Javier) Airport is to the north and about 90 minutes by car. The journey from both airports is very easy, both using quiet motorways.
Alicante airport is about a 2 hour drive as is Malaga airport. We can arrange pick ups at the airport if desired
Distances
The centre of the village is about a ten minute walk. Sorbas is the nearest town at about 10 minutes by car, whilst the larger town of Turre is about 20 minutes away by car. Mojacar, Garrucha and Vera are all about twenty five minutes away by car.
Further details
The nearest shop is to be found in the centre of the village. This is a small supermarket and whilst it does not have a huge choice it makes a more than adequate local shop. The centre of the village also has two bars (one serves basic but good food) and nearby is a public swimming pool with another bar/snack bar. La Mela, fifteen minutes away by car, has a very nice bar/restaurant offering a good menu of the day. The nearby towns of Sorbas, Turre, Mojacar, Garrucha and Vera all have a good selection of major supermarkets, restaurants, bars, banks etc. The historical town of Sorbas is only ten minutes away by car and has a 24 hour emergency clinic. The Caves of Sorbas are well worth a visit. This part of Almeria is one of the best known areas for walking in Spain, with tracks starting right outside the house you can walk into the mountains. The National Park of Cabo de Gata, famous for its bird life (especially in Spring and Autumn) is less than thirty minutes drive and the world famous Cazorla National Park is about and hour and a half away. If you fancy a mini holiday within a holiday Granada and The Alhambra Palace is a must to visit at only two hours distance by motorway. You can take diving lessons at Mojacar Beach and can hire quads or go on a jeep safari. When you book your holiday with us you will find all these details in our information booklet.
Booking notes
We will require a 10% deposit by bank transfer on booking and the balance on arrival. We do not require a breakages deposit but we would ask that you replace any broken items on a one-for-one basis and that you take good care of your holiday accommodation.

About the owner
We have lived in Spain for 23 years with our two children. We are now retired and our children have left home and are now working here in Spain. We bought our home here in Cariatiz as a total ruin and have spent the last few years restoring it to its current high standard. We enjoy walking in the surrounding hills, eating out with friends and visiting other areas of Spain. And of course we have the best climate in Europe in this area - who could ask for more?

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
We wanted a project and could not resist the location of the, then, ruin with its 360 degree views and tranquil position. We set to work and two years later ended up with our dream house. The beach is only twenty minutes away and we feel that we have the best of both worlds - country and coast.
