Set in a quiet corner with French doors opening onto a private terrace and the well maintained gardens, including two communal pools that surround this secure complex, all adjoining Isla Canela golf course. Close to a wide 7km long white sand beach, the ocean and the traditional Spanish fishing town of Ayamonte with its cobbled streets, beautiful shaded squares and a host of tapas bars, cafes and quality restaurants. Portugal lines the other side of the Rio Guardiana and is a short ferry ride away, an ideal way to spend a day, take lunch and savour the different culture and flavours of the East Algarve and Vila Real de Santo Antonio. Isla Canela is a natural island set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a haven for wildlife, birds and flora with Donana National Park nearby. For the more adventurous the marina offers boat trips, fishing trips and water sports with karting and an adventure water park at El Rompido. An ideal location to relax or adventure.

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. Departure time is 10am and arrival time after 4pm. We can be flexible on the arrival time but during busy times the full clean may not be complete until the afternoon.

Notes on accommodation
This is an all year round destination as heating and air-conditioning is provided in bedrooms and lounge/dining room. As the apartment is on the ground floor and one level we consider it suitable for children. New for 2010, hairdryer and small cool box with freezer blocks are now provided as airlines continue to charge more for luggage.

Outside
The terrace is accessed through large french doors from the lounge/dining room. It has a pull over awning for extra shade during the summer months and table and chairs are provided for alfresco dining. Large, immaculate gardens surround the whole complex and there are two large communal pools surrounded by manicured lawns and toddlers pools plus two tennis courts. From the terrace there are far reaching views over the golf course and beyond. The course is not just for golf you may walk the many tranquil footpaths. There is an allocated parking space just outside and there are electronic gates at the entrance for extra security.

Coast/Beach
The beach is less a five minute drive away, there are also regular local buses or the tourist train, to the very wide 7km white sand beach where even in the height of the season you will be able to find your own spot to just relax or swim in the warm blue ocean. On the beach there are a few bars and cafes on the beach so you can soak up the sand, sea and sun. For cyclists there is a dedicated, level cyle path from the complex and all alongside the beach and bicyles can be hired nearby.

Golf
Adjoining the complex is the Isla Canela Golf Course, a couple of minutes walk away, set in beautiful surroundings with natural water channels and mature trees, an 18 hole Par 72 course. There is a good Clubhouse with a large shady terrace, overlooking the 2 lawn bowling greens and swimming pool, where you can enjoy lunch or a cool drink and a good restaurant and bar. The Club also provides a Golf Shop together with a driving range and putting green. In nearby Portugal there are many good Golf Courses within a half hour drive, Castro Marim, Monte Rei, Benamor and many more.

Travel
Faro airport is an easy motorway drive we give directions from the airport to our rendezvous point just off the motorway where we meet you and guide you to the apartment. We can recommend with confidence car hire with a 5% discount or door to door transfer that are economic and reliable, please just ask.

Distances
Nearest town is beautiful, unspoilt Ayamonte a 10 minute drive away. Portugal 10 minutes drive across the bridge. Historic Sevillle is about 1¼ hour drive along the Motorway. There are many small whitewashed villages within a short drive to explore. From Vila Real de Santo Antônio, Portugal there is a day cruise, up the Guardiana River to Foz de Odeileite, which includes lunch at a typical Quinta.

Further details
There is a modern shopping mall on the outskirts of Ayamonte providing large supermarket, small shops, food hall and cinema. For those who prefer something more typical Ayamonte provides everything you expect of a fishing town. The whole town is very well kept with large shady swaures boastin tiled seats, water fountains and a riot of coloured flowers. The cobbled streets are lined with typical buildings with romantic balconies and lead to the many tapas bars, cafes and restaurants where the local fish is always on offer. The shops are small and varied with something to please everbody. There is a daily local market where fresh fish,local fruit and vegetables can be bought. By the Marina there are also many bars, cafes and restaurants and of course the few good hotels provide excellent restaurantswith the Playa Marina Hotel offering spa beauty treatments, sauna and hydro massage.

We are George and Barbara and have been married for over 40 years! We have 25 years+ previous experience of renting properties in Sussex and Belgium. We have had a villa in Tavira for 7 years and when we retired spent time between the 3 countries. Needless to say we could not resist looking for good quality properties for rental and decided to share the lovely city of Tavira with others. We have always had the opinion that if we would want to stay in a place so would other people and we have always used that criteria. We realise that holidays are very important to people as they spend a long time choosing and looking forward to them and saving for them For us it is also important that we treat people as we like to be treated.
