After meandering through leafy lanes into the sleepy village of Vilatan, you’ll discover the recently restored farmhouse of Campo Verde. In the charming interior of the house, open stone walls and solid wooden beams combine to create a traditional feel. With its tiled floors, stylish soft furnishings and homely finishing touches, this is a home that exudes comfort and quality to such an extent that guests are unlikely to want to leave. Outside terraced lawns add further to the appeal. Nestled in one corner of the garden is a steel framed gazebo which provides welcome shade - the perfect place to enjoy the rural views over afternoon tea. Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday during high season and flexible at other times of year. Guests are requested to leave the house by 10am on the morning of departure. On the day of arrival the house will be ready not later than 4pm.

Accessibility
The living accommodation is on the first floor. It is accessed via stairs which may prove difficult to negotiate for the elderly or infirm. Click on the Owners Website link at the foot of this page to take a virtual tour of the accommodation.
Outside
The grounds are fully enclosed and provide a safe and secure environment. Guest arrive at a large gated entrance from where a stone-paved driveway leads to the house. There's ample parking and space to turn the car. The driveway is lined on either side with well maintained lawns. Sunbeds are provided to allow guest to take advantage of these sun-drenched areas and an automatic watering systems ensures that all guest will enjoy a green and health lawn, even in the middle of Summer. At the end of the drive a steel-framed gazebo affords those with fairer skin a cool and shady area in which to enjoy a refreshing drink over the Summers bestseller. At the far end of the house, ancient stone steps lead to the enclosed upper patio. In this all-day-long, sun-filled area you'll find a dining table, four chairs and a large parasol. With just two steps to the accommodation level and the kitchen, this is an ideal place to enjoy lazy alfresco dinners baked over the BBQ. Why not take a virtual tour?
Coast/Beach
Although the coastal resort of Baiona is 153km away there is a sandy river beach less than 12km from the house. This river beach at A Cova has a cafe and restaurant as well as outdoor tables and chairs for picnics.
Golf
Less than 10 minutes drive is the recently opened Agaus Santas Golf Course. This 18 hole course is landscaped in a beautiful valley setting. Green fee range from 30 to 50 euros depending on season and clubs, buggy or trolley can be hired at reasonable rates. There is a less challenging, 9 hole course in the town of Monforte de Lemos.
Travel
Four airports service Galicia - Vigo, A Coruña, Porto (In Northern Portugal) and Santiago de Compostela. The airports at, Oviedo and Valladolid are within reasonable driving distance. In addition to the mainstream carriers, discount airline operators; Vueling Airlines, Ryanair and Easyjet all fly to the area. Car hire is essential. Distances
The house is nestled in the rural village of Vilatan. There are two restaurants within walking distance. In the large village of Escairon, only 4km away, you’ll find most facilities and resources. The historic towns of Chantada and Monforte de Lemos are a short drive away at 12km and 18.5km respectively.
Further details
Campo Verde is the ideal location for those seeking the best of both worlds – rural tranquillity and urban amenities. Excellent road communications make it easy to explore all the major tourist areas in Galicia and Northern Portugal. The Roman-walled city of Lugo is 66km away and the medieval city of Santiago de Compostela, centre of pilgrimage, is just 100km away. At 112km you’ll find the monastery town of Verin. Vigo, europes largest fishing port, is 135km west and the coastal resort of Baiona is 153km away. To the North is the historic city of A Coruna where Drake was repelled. The Portuguese towns of Melgaco, Chaves and Valenca are at 105km, 135km and 141km respectively. Campo Verde is an excellent base from which to discover the charm of the ' Ribeira Sacra. The area boasts one of the greatest concentrations of Romanesque Art in Spain. Take a leisurely cruise in one of the catamarans on the river Sil or Mino. On the other hand you could just lay back and enjoy the sun on a river beach, like that at A Cova. In addition to exploring the area by car we would also recommend that you take time out to do some walking and bird watching or enjoy a round of golf. If relaxation is your aim why not visit a thermal spa and let the hot sulphurous waters soothe away your aches and pains or simply relax in the warm Galician sunshine reading a book as time gently slips by. Whatever you choose to do Campo Verde is the perfect holiday retreat. Wine fiestas. Chantada - 2nd weekend in March. Sober - weekend of Palm Sunday. Portomarin - Easter. Quiroga - Easter. Monforte de Lemos - 15 and 16 May. Ferreira de Panton - 1st weekend in June.
