Captivated by the undisturbed location in 2005, we embarked on our goal to make this corner of the world our new home. We renovated additional properties on our land to create a secluded haven to share with guests in need of tranquility and private space. The guest accommodation has been carefully renovated to blend with nature whilst providing a discerning level of comfort. Small details have been included to delight and surprise you and a large private pool is a welcomed treat. Located close to the precariously perched white town of Iznajar, surrounded by its crystal blue lakes. Local markets offer fresh produce and rustic eateries tempt with traditional Andalucian dishes. There is of course one draw back – you are not going to want to leave. Both houses are fully heated, essential in this area during the Winter months. Notes on accommodation
The Cortijo has full oil fired central heating. An essential in this area during the winter months. The Casita has a wood burning stove and electric panel wall heaters.
Outside
Properties are set in 19,000sqm of olive groves and fruit trees with pleasant landscaped areas to enjoy. Both properties have their own BBQ's and terraces with steps leading to the private, walled pool area. The pool is 11m x 5m with large surrounding terracotta terrace with sun loungers, tables and chairs and a pergola offering welcome shade in the hot summer months.
Coast/Beach
The Coast & Beaches of the Costa del Sol are approx 50 mins by Car.
Golf
An 18-hole course is located at Antequera approx 30 minutes drive from Casa Cruz. Location is idyllic amongst mountains which offer great views of the area. It's long fairways and beautiful water hazards make it a great challenge for any golfer.
There are further clubs near Granada, 50 minutes drive, set to the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Full details on all local golf can be provided by the owner who is a keen golfer.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada Ski resort is approx a 90min drive away and although small by comparison to other better known European resorts, it has the runs to satisfy all standards of skiers and boarders.
Special interest holidays
There are horse-riding stables, a 10min drive from Casa Cruz to Salinas offering facilities for all ages and abilities.
The area is renowned for having the highest concentration of bird species in this part of Europe and there are locally organised bird-watching and walking tours, details of which can be obtained from the owner.
If you have a particular desire to explore different activities eg. painting, ceramics etc...the owner has a good network of local contacts which he will happily provide you with.
Travel
Casa Cruz is close to both Granada airport (40 minutes) and Malaga airport (55 minutes). Casa Cruz's rural setting means that a car is essential in order to enjoy your stay. Both airports have many reputable car hire firms.
Distances
Casa Cruz is within easy reach of the cultural centres of Granada 40 mins. Seville 120 mins Cordoba 60 mins and Ronda 60 mins. The popular beaches of the Costa del Sol 50mins and the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada 90 mins. A car is essential to fully enjoy your stay in this vibrant region of Spain.
Further details
Shopping: There are several small shops and a covered market plus several authentic, local bars in the nearby village of Villanueva de Tapia (2kms) plus a lively, open market every Thursday morning.
For any major food shopping, there is a Mercadona Supermarket in the historic town of Archidona just 15mins drive from Casa Cruz.
There are major banks in both of these locations.
Restaurants: The area offers a vast range of bars and restaurants, from the local spanish tapas bars to the in-house restaurants offered by the world-famous Hotel Bobadilla just a short drive from Casa Cruz.
The owner can provide you with information to all types of local eateries.
Booking notes
All the prices shown are in UK Pounds and are fully inclusive for self-catering accommodation. A 20% deposit is required on booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to the commencement of your holiday.
A security deposit of 200 euros is payable on arrival which is refundable at the end of your stay.
Prices also include heating in the winter months. All towels and linen are included in the price. Complimentary Food & Wine is included to start your holiday off on the right note.

My family and I were one of the first to stay at Philip's and Gemma's delightful Spanish hideaway and we had a fabulous holiday. The house is clean and beautifully appointed, with crisp white linen on all the beds, and plenty of towels, which is great when you've three kids in and out of the pool all day. There is much to do in the surrounding area, although we found the house and pool area so comfortable that we were happy to relax there for the majority of our holiday. Phil and Gemma were welcoming and very helpful, without being intrusive in any way. We would certainly recommend Casa Cruz for any family that wants a relaxing holiday with all the finishing touches you would expect from a house of this standard - a real home from home!
