In addition to the sleeping accommodation there is a dining room, sitting room, TV lounge and library available to guests. There is also a roof terrace which offers spectacular panoramic views of the area. The house is centrally-heated and we have two log burning stoves. As the village is 900 metres above sea level (about the same height as Snowdon) it can get a bit chilly on winter evenings.

Accessibility
Los Arcos is situated on the Church Square and is readily accessible by car. Whilst we do have a wheelchair-accessible room it should be borne in mind that Válor is a typically Alpujarran village in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. As such it is not generally ideally suited for wheelchair users.
Outside
The roof terrace is some 85 sq.m., and is kept looking beautiful all year round with dozens of pot plants. There are plenty of tables and chairs, sun loungers and sun shades. Just inside the roof terrace door is a small refrigerator which acts as a complimentary mini bar for our guests. It is stocked with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Coast/Beach
Several beaches can be reached in about one hour by car. The highest point on the road, Puerto de la Ragua can be reached in about 40 minutes. This is at 2,000 metres above sea level. From here, depending on the time of year, you can walk, cross-country ski or even get a Husky dog ride. The views to both the north and the south are absolutely stunning.
Special interest holidays
Walking Holidays: In April, May, June, September and October we also offer a walking package for parties of between 4 and 7 people for 480 euros per person per week. This includes
bed and breakfast on all 7 nights.
Three course evening meal including pre-dinner drinks, wine and coffee on 6 nights (on the other night we eat at a local restaurant at an extra cost).
Accompanied walks on four days including picnic or tapas lunch. Afternoon tea and home-made cake is served back at the house after each walk.
One day shopping or sightseeing (this could be a trip to Granada by arrangement).
All refreshments taken in the house.
Single room supplement 70 euros.
Non-walkers can still find plenty to do. The area is ideal for mountain biking, bird watching and painting.
Travel
The nearest airports are Almeria, which is a 1½ hour drive away, and Granada, which is a 2 hour drive. They are both served by several British airlines including EasyJet, Ryanair and Monarch. We are able to arrange collection of anyone flying into Almeria or Granada.
Further details
Válor is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains at the eastern end of the Alpujarras, which is an area of Andalusía known for its white villages. It is a lovely, very Spanish, village, with a few shops, bars and restaurants. The village is surrounded by terraced farming land, which is still worked using traditional methods. In the summer the municipal swimming pool is open, which is a two-minute walk from the house. It is a beautiful pool with a grassed area from which the views are spectacular. It has a bar which also sells hot and cold food.
