Situated in an idyllic hamlet within the magical pine forest of La Brena, the views lead through the verdant landscape to the sea and the historic lighthouse of Trafalgar. Casa Margareta offers a unique experience. The tranquillity of its natural surroundings makes it a great choice for that relaxing 'get away from it all' holiday, yet the summer buzz of the beach is just 5 min down the road. Living space is open plan and boasts a glass wall of four doors opening onto a shady patio, filling it with light and allowing the outside-in. The garden terrace made of rustic railway sleepers is great for sunbathing and the perfect place to sip those sun downers. Chill for sure, but we are also ideally located for an incredible variety of activities, culture and adventure. How about walking, horse riding, cycling in the forest; a day out to one of the many historical Andalusian villages/towns/cities nearby or a simple stroll down to Canos beach to take in the view to Morocco across the water.

Bedroom 2 with two single beds. Cot available.
Both bedrooms have generous wardrobe and storage space, bedside tables, sympathetic lighting and original artwork.
Bathrooms: The shower room with underfloor heating boasts the latest in contemporary design.
Kitchen: Contemporary open plan kitchen with view onto umbrella pines. Well equipped with lovely new silestone worktop, sliding drawer fittings, electric oven/hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, toaster, coffee percolator, steam iron and board.
Living Rooms: The large airy open plan living/dining room area is stylishly furnished with a mix of the modern, vintage and ethnic. Four glass doors open onto the terrace with views to garden and the rural landscape. Satellite TV and DVD, CD/radio. Wireless internet.
Other: A hair dryer and magnifying mirror is provided for body maintenance.

Notes on accommodation
Underfloor heating throughout, powered by solar panels with electrical back up, as is the hot water. In winter there is a surcharge of £50 pw for the underfloor heating if the electrical backup is needed.

Outside
The garden has been landscaped with particular flair and ingenuity using different size pebbles, wooden posts and Mediterranean and sub tropical, architectural planting. A large palm tree is the focus in one corner leading the eye down towards the sea in the distance. The exceptional natural surroundings of the pine forest provides greenery all year round, ensures a tranquil atmosphere at all times and is a haven for nature and bird lovers. There is a large covered patio with a wood table and 4 chairs for outside dining and a lovely L shaped outside sofa for relaxing. The outside terrace has two wood steamer sun beds for sunbathing. and a barbecue is on site for dining alfresco. 2 bicycles and 2 yoga mats are available for use by clients. Parking is secure.

Coast/Beach
The unspoilt & spacious beaches of Canos de Meca (voted 3rd best beach in Europe by the Guardian) are a delightful 20 minute walk (2 km) through the forest and only 3 mins by car. Wind, kite and regular surfing are available. In winter, rain water helps to form lagoons in the Trafalgar lighthouse area and in summer, chiringuitos (wooden built bars) occupy a temporary space to make your beach experience more fun. The coast here boasts miles of uninterrupted stunning white sand beaches to enjoy.

Golf
The Montenmedio Golf & Country Club is only 20 minutes away by car and being of international standard offers one of the finest golf courses in the area.It also boasts a permanent contemporary sculpture park, an equestrian centre and a nature reserve.

Travel
The nearest airport is Jerez (1 hour) into which Ryanair fly from Stansted. Also Ryanair into Seville (1.75 hours). Gibraltar (1.25 hours) is served by B.A. and Easyjet, (from Gatwick) and Monarch (Luton). Many other airlines fly into Malaga (2.5hours). Car hire is essential.

Distances
The local village of Los Canos de Meca with restaurants, bars and shops is 2km/3 mins by car. The nearest town is Barbate, a typical Spanish fishing pueblo of strong Andalucian character with a great daily market and choice of supermarkets -10 minutes by car. Vejer, a beautiful hilltop white Moorish village with excellent restaurants is 15 minutes by car. Trips to ancient Cadiz, or Jerez with its sherry bodegas are easily done in a day,as is Tangiers in Morocco (ferry from Tarifa is 35 minutes).

Further details
Two bikes are provided which can take you just down to the beach or further afield if you like.Two yoga mats are the disposal of the clients for their preferred exercise routine, whether it be yoga or pilates. Horse riding is available within 2 minutes walk. A wide range of other activities are available including kite surfing, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, rambling, bird watching, trekking, hiring more bikes, yoga on the beach, massage, learning flamenco, sevillana or salsa - all within easy reach.

Booking notes
The prices are per week in pounds sterling or euros and usually from weekend - weekend for up to 4 people, but we can be quite flexible out of high season. Payments can be made in sterling or euros by bank transfer. 25% deposit is required to reserve your booking, the balance is payable 1 month before arrival, also by bank transfer.. Deposit of € 100 returnable if no damages. . An extra charge of € 40 will be made for cleaning for short stays. .

We travel quite a lot and often rent holiday apartments. In our experience there are 2 kinds ; the first one, you never feel at home. The second one,you feel part of it, the minute you enter. Summer time and the living is .................fun

About the owner
As a photographer by profession and an artist by rote, building my own house in the most beautiful of surroundings, proved to be a venture, I was destined to realize.I bought Casa Margareta in a very bad state, intending to reform it. Not a great build, but the location was stunning and as we know,the winning formula is- location location location. I knew I wouldn’t come across such a chance again within my budget. As with most building projects,nothing went to plan and I ended up tearing it down and building a totally new house.No regrets, despite the year of stress I went through - just a typical story about a Brit building in Spain! I now come regularly from London to stay in my gorgeous upstairs apartment, and love offering up the similarly fabulous flat downstairs for holiday rentals.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
So yes- I’ve always dreamt about that house in the sun. In 2005 after a trip to Mexico I realised Spain could suit my purse, my newly discovered affinity for Spanish culture and was a practical distance from London where I live (flight wise). So deciding to take the plunge, I looked to the most undeveloped and southern coast of Spain and came for the first time to the Costa de la Luz and Canos. I was not disappointed. The countryside is stunning; vigin beaches stretching for miles - umbrella pine forests; protected natural parks. I love the historical context with Morocco across the water and local white Moorish hilltop towns. The economy is still led by fishing/farming with tourism having minimal impact on the environment and the local Andaluz character remaining intact.
