Modern yet traditional, our beautiful villa set in the Vinalopo valley, has stunning mountain and castle (Biar) views. Only 40 minutes from Alicante airport, this is real Spain. We are between Villena and Biar (5 mins each). Please note that this villa is divided into two. We the owners, occupy a totally segregated upstairs Apartment. Having its own entrance and fenced off garden. You have total and private use of the pool area, and we respect your privacy. This does mean that the property is both well maintained and clean. Pool cleaned daily before 8.30am. Perfect for relaxing, by the pool, or at a local bar, maybe enjoying a jug of sangria, or cheap local wine. If you like history, we are a short drive to over 10 castles, as the area is steeped in Moors and Christians history. Every town has its own spectacular fiesta (Villena 4 -9 September). We have a go kart track, where you can race, and then enjoy a meal.

Normally Saturday, but flexible. Arrival not before 4pm. Departure by 10am.

Bedroom 2 with 4ft 6in English divan.
Bedrooms 3 and 4 with 2 x 3ft English divans.
All rooms have en-suite.
Bathrooms: En-suites with full size shower, WC and sink.
Outside WC for pool use.
Kitchen: Large modern kitchen, cooker, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and toaster.
Living Rooms: Large living / diner (see photos). Large comfy sofas seat 9. TV, video and DVD. This house is a home, not just a holiday let and all furnishing echo this.
Other: A beautiful poolside gazebo has been added, to give daytime shade, and a perfect area to enjoy an evening barbecue, or relaxing drink.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All linen and towels, plus change are provided. Cleaned at changeover, or weekly (at your convenience), a linen service can be arranged (extra charge). Pool cleaned daily. Guests to provide pool towels.

 

Notes on accommodation
We have pedestal fans in all rooms. Central heating and a log fire, for low season evenings, when it gets a little cool. So perfect for low season, when sightseeing is more enjoyable. May and June when the wild flowers are out is beautiful. The pool is not fenced off, so may be unsuitable for very young children. Every town and village has a fiesta, so check the internet. Villena fiesta 4 - 9 September over 12,000 people in spectacular costumes. Perfect base for rock climbers. If you have an interest ie wine, castles, churches etc let us know and we will try and find info for you. We do provide an information folder in the villa, to help you make the most of your holiday. Example: We can arrange a visit to our local wine Bodega. Villena has a train to Alicante or Madrid, but a car is essential if you want to really get the most, from this beautiful area.

Accessibility
There are three steps to the front door and two to both the terrace and pool, A large paved pool area, the rest is gravel, so unsuitable for wheelchairs.

Outside
Large covered outside terrace. Pool is roman type with easy steps. 4x10m 0.85-1.85 deep (for guest use only) Large paved area with loungers, various seating, and barbecue, and poolside gazebo, giving shade for children. Spectacular mountain views. Very peaceful and private location, yet only 5 mins from town. Sit on the terrace in the evening, enjoying a glass of wine or beer and maybe seeing an eagle hovering over the mountain, and all the stress of modern life, just fades away.

Coast/Beach
Alicante beach is 40 mins away. We are not a coastal holiday. We offer real Spain, mountains, castles, bodegas villages, mountain walks and peace.

Golf
There is a nine hole golf course 10 mins away,very laid back, ideal for a family day out.

Travel
40 mins from Alicante airport, we are 4 klm from the A31 Alicante-Madrid motorway. A car is essential.
We do have a local hire car service, that is cheaper than the coast,and will deliver a car to the airport for only 10 euros extra, paquitorentacar.com

Distances
Villena is 3 km and Biar 5km. For Climbers we are 5km from Mount Peña Rubia, 10km from Marin near Sax. El Campello beach a typical Spanish resort with lovely sand and harbour, 40 mins away. 20mins from Elda and Petrer.

Further details
May is a perfect time of year for sight seeing, and enjoying a spectacular fiesta. May Moors and Christians fiestas, Biar 10th-13th, Petrer 14th-18th, Elda 27th May-!st June.
Villena is a large modern town. Restaurants (inc 3 x Chinese) and supermarkets. We are very spoilt here when it comes to shopping, we have most Banks and a very helpful tourist office. The views from the castle are spectacular. Biar a real Spanish village. Cobbled streets, tapas bars, local pottery, parks, museum and topped by Biar castle, that is beautifully lit up at night, as you can see from our villa. If you feel the need for a day of crowds, Benidorm is only 1 hour away by excellent roads. Nature and water parks. Our local fiestas are well worth seeing, the Spanish take them very seriously. The whole family is involved and bands come from all over Spain. Some local towns are Biar, Sax Caudette, Banyeres de Mariola, Ontinyent, Onil, Castalla look dates up on the internet. The area is perfect for mountain walking, and climbing, Visit a local Bodega, maybe book to have a meal there, a great day out.

Booking notes
Initial enquiry generates a booking form. A non refundable deposit of £100 together with £150 breakage deposit (refundable) and a completed booking form, secures your booking. We will confirm your booking in writing, or email. Full payment is due 8 weeks before arrival. A reminder will be sent at 10 weeks. On payment, we will send full directions.

Owner profile


About the owner
We both fell in love with this part of Spain on our first visit. We were impressed by the easy going locals, the cheap prices, compared with the coast, and of course the spectacular mountains and castles. We decided to buy a plot of land, and have a property built, so that we could retire early, and also get an income. Starting as a B and B ,we found people preferred to rent self catering, so we separate the property into two. We love meeting our guests, our friendly dog Bonnie loves everyone, and is a great hit with the children (she can be fenced off if required). We respect our guests privacy, but have been told that they get more from their holidays, by using our local knowledge of restaurants, bodagas and places to visit, and doing things the Spanish way.
