The casitas have been tastefully restored to a high standard, providing spacious rooms with fully equipped kitchens. The grounds include several sun and shady terraces together with a beautiful pool. It is an ideal place for anyone seeking a taste of traditional Spain and is perfectly situated to explore everything Andalucia has to offer in terms of culture, cuisine and entertainment. Malaga, Cordoba Granada and Seville are within easy driving distance.

Notes on accommodation
We can provide fans during the summer, if required, however being traditionally built the casitas are naturally cool. Both casitas are non-smoking, you are welcome to smoke on the outside terraces. We provide fresh linen every 7 days, bathroom towels and poolside towels. Other amenities provided include, cool boxes, hairdryers, clothes airers and a list of over 100 DVD titles.
Outside
The casa and casitas are set in 3 acres of land mainly consisting of Spanish oak trees. The 1 bedroom casita benefits from it's own private 6x10 walled sun terrace, sun loungers, outside table chairs and parasol, BBQ and shaded area for those extra hot days. The 2 bedroom casita benefits from being poolside, BBQ, sun-loungers, outside table chairs and parasol. There are also other terraces in the grounds providing private tranquil and shaded areas if you prefer. Our pool has large wide steps for our guests who prefer to sit and cool off rather than swim, poolside shower and shaded gazebo area.
Coast/Beach
The lakeside beach of Iznajar is only 10 minutes drive from Mariposa Blanca and benefits from a beach side bar. The beaches of the Costa del Sol are only 1 hours drive.
Golf
The nearest golf course is in Antequera about 20 minutes drive.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada skiing range is about 1 hour and 45 minutes drive.
Travel
Both Malaga and Granda airports are 50 minutes drive from Mariposa Blanca, car hire is essential and available from both airports.
Distances
Our local bar and restaurant is only a 5 minutes drive away. The bar offers traditional Spanish tapas and meals. Iznajar, the local village with it's beautiful churches, small shops, bars and banks is only 10 minutes drive. The larger towns of Rute and Archidona offer a large supermarket and a greater selection of shops, bars, restaurants and museums. Both locations are approximately a 20 minute drive from us.
Further details
Fishing is available on lake Iznajar. Horse riding is available in Salinas which is a 10 minute drive from Mariposa Blanca. There are numerous mapped walks through-out the very picturesque Subbetica National park to suit amblers through to hikers. Bird watching tours are available in Loja and surrounding area. Booking notes
A 25% deposit is required on booking and the remaining 75% balance is due 8 weeks prior to arrival date. We do ask for a fully refundable £100.00 deposit against breakages and damages.

We moved to Spain in 2007, because we wanted to give our daughter a "proper" childhood. Friendly and caring neighbours. No cares, no worries when playing outside with friends and in the summer sunshine!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We came to the area because it is in the middle of both Granada and Malaga airports. Not the most romantic reason in the world to choose where to live, but when we caught our first view of Lake Iznajar we knew this was the place for us. The house was in need of major renovation, but two and a half years later and plenty more grey hairs, it was transformed from casa Rubita (previous owners name) to Casa Mariposa Blanca. Mariposa Blanca translates as White Butterfly, which was our daughters idea. She compared the renovation to a caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly and in the summer there are always white butterflies around the grounds.
Unique benefits of the property
The thing we love most is the peace and quite. We think it is probably the best nights sleep anywhere in the world. Sometimes when standing out on the terrace it is so quiet it is hard to believe that the bars and restaurants of Iznajar are only 10 minutes away. It is also great to be able to walk out onto the patio and then into the olive groves, no traffic, just hares, birds and rabbits. Or to sit outside late of an evening, with a warm breeze, a cold glass of wine and to look up and be able to see so many stars.
