Located on the winding road leading up to the Castle but close to the square this Casa Mata or terraced house said to be over 200 years old has been restored to provided comfortable accommodation but still retains the charm of a traditional Casares home. The cave is a unique feature of this property and with the open barbecue area alongside provides a cool place for eating in the summer. Arranged on two floors with terrace above there is large entrance hall and lounge/dining area with wood burning stove. The generous terrace gives wonderful views of the surrounding village, countryside and to the coast. The crags are home to a colony of Griffon vultures and the Sierra Crestellina Nature Reserve is alongside the village favoured by bird lovers and walkers.

Coast/Beach
20-30 minutes drive to the coast and Puerto Duquesa depending on which road is taken. All the beaches around the Port are blue flag.

Casares and La Duquesa 20 minutes.

Travel
Gibraltar Airport 45 minutes. Malaga Airport 1 hour 30 minutes.
Car or use of car is essential. It is possible to take a small car to the entrance of the house to drop off luggage. Parking in the village or car park.

Distances
Inland drive to Ronda approx 40km passing through many white villages on route. Roman Baths at Manilva 15km.Selwo Wildlife Park 30km. Estepona 27km. Jerez approximately 2 hrs. Seville approximately 3 hrs. Granada approximately 3 hrs. Marbella, Puerta Banus. La Canada 35 minutes.

Further details
The local shops sometimes hidden behind a beaded curtain can provide all your needs. There is an excellent butcher and the undercover market provides fresh fish and vegatables too. There are two banks, a pharmacy and a taxi rank. There is a small market on Friday morning. Traditional restaurant near the Castle with spectacular views. Bar/restaurant in the square serving a good selection of tapas and dinner in the evenings. Other bars/restaurants in and around the village offer a good choice of local cuisine. All the ventas on the road to Casares provide an extensive menu and can get very busy on Sundays with families. The biggest supermarket is Mercadona on the main road just before the entrance to the Port coming from Sabinillas. There is also Super Sol on the road from Manilva down to the coast. Sunday morning Rastro market at Sabinillas is considered to be one of the best in the area. Well signposted when you approach Manilva.
