Changeover day
Preferred changeover day, particularly in July/August is Saturday. The rest of the year we are more flexible. Arrival, any time after 5pm and departure time 9am to facilitate cleaning ladies.

Bedroom 1, double bed with  spacious en-suite bath/shower, wc, exceptionally cool (room for cot or single bed) ground floor courtyard rose garden views. 2 twin beds (also optional sofa bed), cloakroom wc. Ground floor views to Portugal, fountain and garden.Large comfortable sitting room/dining area, sofas and Sat TV. Galleried, partly glazed, candlelit dining area with large refectory table and seating also ideal for siesta, quiet time (reclining sun chairs).Kitchen with original features, bread oven, churrasqueiro and range, plus new gas cooker, large fridge/freezer and granite work/serving area. Pilgrims Cottage is delightfully cool in summer and warm in winter. A rare opportunity to stay very comfortably in one of Galicia's unique and historic cassitta's. Children will be comfortable here, secure and in the shaded courtyard able to play happily. Inside the cottage there is plenty of space, cool granite walls and comfortable furnishings.

 

Notes on accommodation
Luxury self-catering and B&B options available in both properties. All linen (crisp cotton sheets), and towels are provided. For S/C guests there is a laundry and/or maid service if desired for a small charge. Both properties have full CH, and the villa and cottage both have an open fire and free logs making them an ideal winter/Christmas choice. Above the average self catering property both the villa and cottage are equipped to the highest standard. Os Bravos welcomes families, groups and couples alike. Secluded and secure, it is a haven of tranquility, but perfectly situated for access to all that Galicia has to offer. The cottage is particularly suitable for a couple looking for a secluded ,cosy away from it all break. The ensuite double bedroom has plenty of space for a cot if required and in the large sitting room twin beds and a sofabed can be arranged if required for a family group. Also a perfect choice of accomodation for surfers and others here to enjoy the great outdoors.

Accessibility
The properties have not been specially constructed for wheelchair use, however, in the villa there is a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, two steps up to the villa can be accessed by a ramp. The cottage is all on one level, the grounds also. Many restaurants/bars in this area are well adapted for wheelchair users. We have welcomed people here with mobility problems and they have had a most enjoyable holiday.

Outside
Beautiful 5,000 sq.m. of walled, well maintained, mature  grounds with separate pool area, (completely fenced) a haven for many bird species with shaded corners, cooling fountain, specially designed 'tranquility garden' with many exotic species of plants, ideal for reading, relaxing, meditating, but with plenty of space for recreation. Swimming pool and changing room set amongst flora and fauna with breathtaking mountain and vineyard views, (11 metres with jacuzzi) and separate paddling pool for little ones. Cherry, nectarine, Mirabelle's peach, citrus and a kiwi fruit plantation provide both properties with organic fruits most of the year. A granite table and seating area, herb garden, plenty of loungers and hammocks, and in the shade of the large plum tree in the cassita courtyard there is a second BBQ, seating, a relaxing fish pond and salad bed. Private, secure parking is available at the villa and cottage. A large terrace for secluded sunbathing is on the 1st floor of the villa.

Coast/Beach
River beaches 5 mins drive. La Guardia, a wealth of beaches with blue flag status, 15 mins drive. Biona, Samil, Patos, Panxon, Playa America, all offer a host of amenities, free parking, safe bathing, water sports and only 20 mins to Os Bravos. Take a ferry to islands off Biona, discover 1 of top 10 beaches in the world. Paradise. Galicia prides itself on it's clean, safe beaches, wide sandy bays, great for rock pooling, little coves and hidden places, unspoilt and nearby.

Golf
Ponte de Lima, Ria de Vigo and Mondariz golf courses are all approximately 30 mins drive. For children and the young at heart there is a crazy golf course just 5 mins drive from Os Bravos. Great fun!

Special interest holidays
Painting, wine appreciation and tasting technique, walking and other specialist courses are available, mostly held in the Spring/Autumn. These courses can be tailored to individual/group requirements, do please ask for more details. Exciting News! - Our newly opened Galician School of Cookery ( the first of its kind in the region) offers small groups an opportunity to come to Galicia and learn the techniques, style and execute memorable dishes in a fun and yet proffesional ambiance. Wines of the region will be studied and tasted and bodega visits arranged as part of the holiday, each wine will compliment the dishes which have been prepared (all using the very finest, fresh, local produce of the area)

Travel
Vigo 25 mins drive, Gatwick direct. Oporto 50 mins drive. Santiago De compostella 90 mins drive. Ferries arriving at Santander, Bilbao and Vigo.For info re Airlines/ferries servicing these routes do call. Clickair, Tap Air and Ryanair are the main providers, do check the internet and press for offers, early bookings are the most economic. We recommend car hire but local, reliable taxi's can be arranged to collect and deliver to airports. Bus service 10 mins walk.

Distances
Tomino 5 min drive 20 min walk, good facilities. Estas 10 min walk, friendly shop and bar. Goian 5 min drive, 20 min walk, market Friday, bank, bars and beach, supermarket, open Sunday. Tui medieval town with impressive cathedral, good shopping and market on Thursday. Vigo city/port good theatres, art galleries and restaurants. La Guardia - langoustine capital just 15 min drive, a must for seafood lovers. O Rosal famous for wine 15 min drive. So much to do and see. Call for our brochure.

Further details
Nearest village shop (well stocked) 10 min walk. Estas also friendly social club/bar with outside terrace, or walk through the cool forest (15 mins), past the 'fortaleza' to the extraordinary village of Figuero, relax in the village square (3 bars and a shop) with a glass of Albarino, or visit the magnificent church of San Campio de Lonxe, a famous place of worship and healing, also a refuge on the Santiago Way. 5 min drive (Goain and Tomino) with good local supermarkets  fresh meat, fish an deli. Superb weekly markets. Banks 5 min drive too, with cash points. Internet cafes too. Many bars, restaurants and taperia's offering excellent value for money. Fresh bread delivered daily and twice weekly fresh fish van also. Good restaurants close by, all offer a 'takeaway service'. Superb local produce, fresh, healthy and organic. A feast from the sea and flavours unrivalled. This really is a gastronomic delight. La Guardia is called the Langostin capital of Europe, with fantastic well priced restaurants. In Galicia, there is something tempting on offer to eat, see, or do 12 months of the year. From bodega visits and informal, comparative tastings at Os Bravos to lazy days aboard a private motor launch, exploring the River Minho. For the more active, kayaking/canoeing, surfing, windsurfing and hobbiecats. Culture/art is all around, from the medieval town of Tui to the celtic site at Santa Techla, Santiago de Compostella is also a must (just 1.5hrs drive). So, in the spring come and marvel at the wild flower meadows, the rushing streams and the wild pony roundups in the mountains, in summer enjoy the glorious beaches and long sunny days, in autumn pick wild mushrooms in the forest, help with the harvest of the vines, marvel at the colours, a perfect time for artists and walkers. In winter explore Vigo, enjoy the stylish shopping, numerous art galleries and classic architecture, theatres, museums and spa's, return home to Os Bravos for roaring log fires and Rioja!
