Both apartments are located in the upper part of village offering stunning views of the Contraviesa range. Castaras is described in the local archives as 'an orchard sleeping between stone and water' and we are surrounded by cultivated olive and almond trees, and the villagers' kitchen gardens. In addition there's an abundance of fruit trees, holm oaks, and the willows and poplars that mark the decent of the mountain streams. Castaras is at an altitude of 1020m, and above the village is the protected area of the Sierra Nevada National Park and Trevelez, the highest village on the Iberian Peninsular and famous for its air-cured Serrano ham. We are situated within an extensive walking network and close to the E-4 GR7. Local experts are available on a daily basis for activities including mountain biking, painting and drawing, bird watching, and horse riding. See our website for details. Staying in Castaras offers the experience of traditional mountain village life.

Three bread vans pass through daily and on Saturdays there's a vegetable lorry.
